My husband and I have been going to Yum Yum Tree for 10+ years and have always loved it. From the “Life is short, eat dessert first” to the sweet potato fries with caramel sauce to the awesome train rolling overhead — as children we loved going there with our parents and as we’ve aged the kids inside us loved it too! That was even his grandmother’s favorite venue before she was too ill to make it out of the house. Then they got new owners… we tried to like the changes. And we have gone back at least 6 times trying to like the changes, and each time the food and service just get worse. Last night was the last straw. We drove down from Lansing to come and get dessert, there was one girl working the floor with two booths, us making three. She didn’t take our drink orders and when we did give them to her, only two out of three of us received drinks. Her friends were at one of the booths and she would sit with them and laugh with them. When we ordered our ice cream dishes, our waitress didn’t know what ice creams they had (and they only had 8 options because one of their cases broke). Our 2 ice cream dishes took about 45mins to make (I ordered a fried dish -Cinnamon Chip -and my husband ordered a pre-made dish- Mount Brighton). She never came and asked if we needed anything or if she could refill our drinks in that time, I had to flag her down to refill my sister’s drink, but my drink remained empty and my husband apparently didn’t deserve a drink. When our ice creams came from the “chef” she slammed them down on our table and tossed the spoons (3 people, 2 spoons). My husband’s pre-made ice cream was already nearly melted and mine, which is supposed to be a chip-like dessert tossed in cinnamon sugar was lacking the cinnamon sugar and was ridiculously oily. We were never asked how our food was, but the “chef” did go and sit down with the group of friends along with the waitress - must be interesting people. The waitress was lightning fast with getting us our check and change… so perhaps the man in the other review who waited 20min for check/change could have had our waitress! It’s a shame to have seen such a wonderful establishment go down hill. Oh, and that awesome train - it now creeks and jitters as it goes around the curves.

Ive worked in restaurants so I expect friendly customer service. Waitress was very blunt, lacking any sort of personality or enthusiasm. We ordered a burger that was $9 and Ive had better tasting burgers from Burger King. Also thought the up charge for a "kids macaroni" is ridiculous. (which by the way is microwaved Kraft macaroni) and yes it does say this on the menu that its Kraft but waitress had to reiterate that, thats the only side order that is an up charge....when you could make this at home for half the price. Also wasnt pleased with the soup...just didnt enjoy the flavor, took two bites and told my waitress wasnt happy with it, she replied "ok" then when we got our bill she didnt take it off. And when we asked why she said "well there was nothing wrong with it" honestly overall experience was just not good. Wanted to come back here for old time sake. We used to come very often. The food was way better years ago. Will not be coming back ever.

Terrible service and poorly managed !! Waited over 40 minutes for an ice cream sunday that takes 2 minutes to make. The kids working there have no sense of customer satisfaction and were totally offended when our party corrected them. The store constantly waited on walk-in customers first and ignored those of us who waited in the booths. There is a constant line when you walk in which is a mix of people waiting for their bills or change and those who are just trying to get a quick ice-cream. It took us 10 minutes to get our change as we waited in this line of disscusted customers. The layout of the store is terrible with only one cash register behind the counter where no one can get to it. Do you think they would "comp" our dissatisfied customer bill for a $5.00 ice cream....no way !!! Come on management....get with it. I will never go there again and will tell everyone I can about this experience.

The lunch items here are good, but the real point in visiting this place is to sample the stellar dessert items. Everything is made right there, so you dont have to worry about getting factory-made junk. The Yum Yum Trees decor makes this place a unique treat that kids and adults will enjoy. Theres a model train that chugs around the room along on the track on the ceiling and there are new and nostalgic story books at the tables. Id especially recommend stopping by in December when the Christmas decorations are up!

Terrible-waited 15 minutes for a single scoop of vanilla ice cream and there were 4 girls working and no one in line for a ice cream cone and only 3 tables were taken and they were already waited on. So we walked out and will never go there again. Go to Jacks instead by the Mill Pond. Took them 2 minutes to get our order and they were very busy.

Food is alright. Just found out today they no longer will be serving fries or chicken fingers, and to make up for it they give you soup or salad (small)to make up for the fries. $9 for a burger. Save your time and go to Red Robin. Will never come back And the train is cruising around with no carts attached:(

Love the Yum yum Tree! Go there regularly since the prices are reasonable and the food is great. Usually end up getting something off the special board, its always delicious! Soups are also really tasty too and homemade. Favorite dessert is the Blondie brownie. I could eat that every day:)

We waited 20 minutes just to get our water. We waited for over 40 minutes for our food after we placed our order and our waitress was the assistant manager! The food was not worth the price or the wait. Wont be going back here. Lil Chef...were comin back!

Went here for breakfast with the family in a Sunday. It took nearly 20 minutes to get our drinks, and an hour to get our food. To add to the delay in service, the food was cold. Ho-hum food and terrible service. Will not be going back.

This is a fun, almost historical ice cream shop in Brighton. You can see the history written on the walls, there are childrens books at the tables, and they serve old school ice cream treats. This place is fabulous
