I usually never write reviews but I HAD to for this place. Ive grown up in Ipswich, MA my whole life and I know a lot about seafood (my family owned a seafood restaurant a while back). I dont care too much for Woodmans, Clam Box, and all those other local places, I think they are way too greasy and expensive. Bob Lobster is in a league of its own (way above the others...at least I think so)!!! This is some of the BEST seafood I have ever had. The batter was just right, the clams were the perfect size, prices were extremely inexpensive, hardly any signs of grease, and the lobster roll was huge! When we walked into Bob, we were greeted with a employee handing out free sample of the seafood platter. Im not kidding...free samples of fried clams! I will return again and again and again. Added bonus...they have Richardsons Ice Cream for dessert! This will forever be my place for seafood!

Okay, so I didnt have the lobster. I get it. Its like having the pasta at a French restaurant. My bad. But still, you would think fish tacos at a roadside seafood shack near the beach would be at least decent. These were not decent, in fact they made me feel a little sick. Everythings fried in the same oil, everythings the same color, from the terrible limp fries to the nuggets of fish or shrimp. The tortilla was substandard, worse than what your basic grocery store tortilla. The entire taco was this: tortilla, fish nuggets, some cabbage, and a tiny drizzle of strange pink cream. I was hungry, so I ate them both, but regretted it almost immediately. I get that this is a local favorite. Just stay away from anything thats not lobster. And dont use the port-a-john toilets (the only option), theyre worse than the ones at the beach.

After the new owners took over the recipes changed. And it was for the worse. They had the best Haddock on the planet. Now Id rather go to Red Robin for their fish and chips. The Fries were also great, now they are some frozen flavored gross French Fries. Please just bring back the old recipes. Im begging you. As it stands right now, 8 of us are never going back there. Very Dissapointing. The service and the kindness of staff was wonderful, but the taste of the food is what keeps customers. We have been faithful customers of at least 10 years. But as it seems most good things come to an end. So sad to not be coming back anymore.

It was good food all around. The crabmeat roll wasnt the best but the crab was fresh and well made, although lacking a little taste. The roll itself was comparable to a hotdog buns but not buttered or anything. The vanilla cherry ice cream was great, however. The biggest drawback was in the end was the price. For how close it is to the water and how popular the place gets (line out the door) everything was 1.5 to 2 times as expensive as I have seen in other restaurants.

Living in the area we went during the week. It was awful! I ordered the labster dinner which came with fries and coleslaw. I could not eat the fries because they were a greasy frozen mess. The labster wasnt any better it tasted like it came out of the swamp. A very disappointing EXPENSIVE experience. I used to love Bobs Labster! Now driving by every day I see this place to be another turist trap.

Bob Lobster is one of our go-to for BYO, eat outside (or in!) seafood shacks. Always good food. Have to pay attention for some of the key holidays/weekends as the wait can be long - but I wouldnt take away from my 5 star review since I know just to not go for Sunday dinner before Labor Day. Also the fresh seafood case has good values as well if you want to cook your meal at home.

Food was great...service friendly and excellent. We had the lobster rolls... only concern was for the layered live lobsters in the tank...barely able to move...normally one or two layers is max to allow air to circulate...maybe we were there when there was a fuller tank than usual...but hope this was an exception...advocate for fresh seafood and kindness to all animals..

Had the lobster ma c and cheese. Not bad, but the mac and cheese bit felt a bit too processed (though I’m sure it’s not). The tuna tacos were the standout dish. Fantastic fresh and interesting dish. Never had anything like that. The Lobster roll was good. Not as good as Burger and Lobster’s brioche roll though if compared.

This place is great. I ate there 3 days in a row while visiting. the Best claim chowder...not too creamy and great flavor. Fried oysters were delicious. Had a caesar salad with grilled tuna...tuna could have been cooked more but again, really good. I also bought some freshly cooked lobster and it was sweet and tender.

When Bobs first opened you got a large plate of food for a very reasonable price. each year it seems the portions get smaller and the price gets higher. This seems to be commonplace in this area. Most people I speak with feel the same way. Bob, you will have one more chance, no improvement and I am done.

The lobster here were quite tasty, good view outside and friendly staff. The service was very slow. 40 min for a lobster is a bit long especially when its not that busy. Looks like a number of orders came out in the wrong order too. 1.5 lbs is more like 1 lbs compared to other places.

Amazing food! Fair prices. We got the lobster salad rolls and the fries and a side of cole slaw, and it was all well beyond good! Super delicious!!! And very nice staff. Extremely busy but got our food extremely fast!! Would definitely recommend and were definitely going back soon!!

Seafood, most of it fried, including Lobster and Scallops (delicious by the way) as well as the usual suspects (clams and strips, shrimp, fish, and if for reasons foreign to me you dont want fried seafood ... they ahve chicken fingers which the kiddos loved.

A decent road side seafood place. They have a variety of fried selections and a decent amount of fresh seafood to go also. We got the lobster rolls, good for the price and nice and fresh. It is a good place to stop on the way to beach or when headed home.

Great seafood and awesome view. Good fried clams, fish and chips. Really fresh. Batter was light and perfect, not salty. We liked the fries. My kids liked their Mac & Cheese and chicken fingers. The highlight was the home made ice cream sandwich!

Staff there were really nice but food was not. We had steamed lobster, steamers, fried oyster, etc. Twin lobsters ... too much water...maybe they didnt steam properly. Too much sand in steamers. I dont think they purged them.

Excellent food and I was happily surprised by the affordability of the meals. Coleslaw was excellent, lobster roll was incredibly tasty and fresh. I was sad to only get a chance to eat here once on my East Coast Trip.
