I was just in Island Pharmacy on July 4th where the new pharmicist informed me that she would not sell me Humulin insulin because I did not have a perscription. She staunchly told me i needed a perscription for insulin. I do not know where she is from but in Massachusetts this could not be further from factual. She also told me that there is a difference between Humilin N insulin and NPH Humulin insulin - one of them you need a perscription for and one you dont. Again, DANGEROUSLY incorrect. They are one in the same and IT (singular) does not require a perscription. After I explained to her that I am a 20 year resident of Nantucket and that I have been buying insulin in this pharmacy without a perscription (because diabetics can die with out insulin that is the REASON it is NON-PERSCRIPTION) since its opening. She told me that she didnt care and that she would not sell this diabetic insulin. When I asked her to contact the owner (also pharmacist) she responded irratically and in an unappropriate and unprofessional manner as though her ego would not allow her to be wrong. It is of the utmost importantce that a pharmicist knows the laws of the state that they are practicing in or is at the very least willing to make a phone call to find the proper information to keep theyre customers healthy and safe and so that a diabetic can buy the neccesary insulin they need to live. The Pharmicists name is Cathy Tremble.

I have been going to Island Pharmacy for about 12 years now and every one that I talk to there are very helpful. They are very helpful over the counter and when I am not picking up a prescription they are just as helpful. They always call my doctor to make sure it is the right prescription.
