Was upset with final outcome of a situation. I bought a bike from Dedham bike and they were very friendly. I am a large man and was looking for a mountain bike that would hold my frame. Their associate showed me a couple different options and I settled on the trek 4300 series. When I took it for a test ride the back tire would flatten out from my weight they told me a little extra air would take care of it and I would be all set. So i bought the bike for 600. I was pumped took it home and rode it for about three miles and the back tire still had the same issue of flatten out. I took it the next day and once again they were great, gave me a new stronger tire for free. Got home excited once more but same issue. I was extremely frustrated at both myself and the issue as they promised me it would hold my weight. When I called this afternoon I explained what happened again and they told me I had two options to spend 45 on a new stronger tire but they couldnt guarantee that it would fix the problem or ride like it was as it was not popping the tire. I was upset becasue i didnt want to ride with a handicap after spending that money and having the store tell me it would hold me. With my frustration I asked if I could return it and they said for a 20% stocking fee. I wasnt happy and expressed in my conversation that they had said the tire would be fine before I bought it. The sales associate then told me " Well not a lot of people your size ride bikes" which I am sure is true but thought was really rude. So it looks like I am going to be forced to eat 120 on this deal and no bike. So be careful when you buy the bike take it for a nice long test ride to make sure it fits you 100% and dont take their word for it that the problem is fixed or can be fixed.

Ive purchased two bmx bikes here- a haro and a mirra. Both times I was told that the quality of the bikes would be "better than buying at a boxstore." Both bikes were pieces of junk. The haro ran well initially but eventually broke down prematurely. Dedham bike was more than happy to repair the bike for a substantial charge. Upon informing Dedham Bike that we needed a simple but good quality replacement, the shop showed us the Mirra. This bike was worse than the Haro- it never ran well from the start; the pedal skipped and sometimes the chain failed to engage. It was our fault that we didnt bring the bike back and at this point I fear that a return trip will only result in a smug "sorry" and a steep repair bill. Dont fall for the "youre better off buying from a reputable bike shop routine". As far as a can tell one of those big "boxstores" will do just as well. Maybe Dedham Bike should stick to the high-end stuff and leave the rest to the big stores unless they are intentionally trying to double-dip on the sales tag and the repair costs.

This is the charming type of local bike shop that is hard to find anymore. Despite being on smaller side, spectrum of offered brands is impressive, and full range of gear is available. What stands out is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, first rate! Ive shopped around, at the larger stores, but I always end up waiting a long time to talk to someone, and then it is rushed -- Dedham Bike offers personal attention. I bought my Cannondale here, had some optional accessories installed, and come in for tune-ups -- very pleased with my experience!

I dropped my very high end bike off with these guys for a tune up and I am still glowing at the quality of the work -- my bike looks brand new again! In addition, they fixed some little derailleur problems I have been having that other mechanics had not remedied. I highly recommend them.
