Urban Grape is a great wine store in the South End. The owners opened this store after they had great success with the Chestnut Hill store. The store has a great selection of wines, beer, and other specialty liquors. The best thing about the store is that they offer Geek Outs and specialty tastings. They frequently bring in vendors to sample their products, which is a great way to try new wines. The Geek Outs are 1-2 hour free classes where they have an expert talk about a specific alcohol. Sometimes they also do food pairings in the class as well. Sign up for the newsletter so you can see when all of the e vents are.

Hadley and TJ (the owners) are so friendly and give this liquor store a great neighborhood feel. They make wine very understandable and accessible through their "number system" to figure out what type of wine you truly like. The beer selection is great, and the monthly events that they have are super fun. I went to the Holiday Hosannah event on a Sunday night for some holiday cocktails paired with yummy apps, and the week before some beer with delicious Chinese food catered by the Mei Mei food truck.

Urban Grape is a wonderful specialty liquor store. Though they are a bit pricey they make up for it in their selection of hard to find items. Personally I go here for their beer selection, they carry many hard to find beers that are difficult to get in other stores. In addition their staff is typically very helpful and are able to suggest items based on your taste. I recommend Urban Grape if you are looking for a special hard to find beer, wine, or liquor.

The staff is extremely kind, knowledgeable and full of great advice to help you pick out wines both in your comfort zone and to help you branch out. I am continually impressed with the customer service, selection of both wine and craft beer and the creative and fun weekly tastings.
