Tyler get over your head, you are in denial, look at your owner responses, your trend is to reject the fact that either the customer had a bad experience or you dont know the customer. Its laughable and childish to say that i threw tantrum and that i was yelling, thats one thing exactly what did NOT happen, are you reading carefully, i am a business owner for 15 years, thats just not a behavior an owner conducts or condones. Take accountability of your actions, I am the one who walked away, leaving you empty handed at the table, you never deserved the sale. Take responsibility, and start acknowledging your behavior, You are a very inexperience in your customer service and order taking process. you and you crew are very condescending and nasty. Everyone Please Take these Facts into consideration before you give these people your business: I walked in with my 5 year old, wanting to place an order for a custom cake for her 5th birthday, the girl said theres no one today AVAILABLE TO TAKE A CAKE ORDER (later the owner Tyler insisted that theres always someone on who CAN take a custom cake orders). She made me write my name and number on a piece of paper. No One contacted me back for 3 days. I called back, a guy named Brian gets on the phone, and instead of being interested in taking the actual order, offering options, in his mellow tone in the voice he repeated that they are open 10-6 every day, about FOUR times. Then i went in, the same mellow guy comes out from the back office after 10 minutes of waiting, without offering to have a sit and conduct a professional custom cake order process, like i was buying a cup of coffee, he stands by their album area which i wasnt interested in, i had my own pics to show. Just like on the phone, one more time he was not interested in conversation and in sale. He was more like an order taker, he repeated numerous times that its $600 for a small helicopter and a small figurine cake, and again without offering any other range of options, he simply was not interested in the order. The fame really took over their heads. He was very arrogant and indifferent, with wide opened frozen eyes. He talks down to you as if you are stupid about their cakes. So meanwhile my little one was getting bored and i offered to go have a sit, he walked with me to the table, but did not want to have an actual sit, i had to talk to him up from sitting down, as if he was above me. He insisted hes sitting down 8 hours a day and that hes fine. And that was supposed to be a normal way to take a custom order cake for $600. I asked for an owner, Tyler, who comes out and yes he did have a sit, but no different from his employee, didnt care much. Monkey see, Monkey do situation. He very indifferently, in-genuinely, insincerely was simply saying Sorry. Of Course, i didnt give them my business, they didnt deserve it, he walked away empty handed without an order. Their fame is on Flame. Dear Tyler and Amanda (owners of the shop), its just not enough these days, that you found a very small niche business and you seem that you are temporarily successful, you are NOT building long lasting relationships with your customers, you may not care today, but rest assured that it WILL bite you Bigger than you think very soon. Take this as a wake up call and retrain yourselves and your employees in your customer communication skills and order taking process, since thats what employees do, they mimic their owners. Make it easy and pleasant and smooth, so the customers return and recommend, or else you know how the word of mouth works. You dont have to always sell $600 cakes, there are more people willing to pay $300-$400 per cake, if you are capable of making that sale, which better than NO SALE. You maybe a cake artist, but you are surely not BUSINESS people, it might take you years of loosing customers before it really strikes your famed heads what a real customer experience means. Take it from a restaurant business owner of 15 years. Good Luck, Mina

Being berated by the staff has left me shocked and speechless... Food has become another art form and the cakes they advertise on their website are incredible! But if you are going to advertise something then you need to deliver what you show in your pictures. This was not my first special order but unfortunately it will be my last. When I placed my order I referred to two pictures they had of cakes they had previously done. I am not sure if the consultant didnt write down what I actually wanted or where the miscommunication occurred. When we picked up the cake it was not what we requested and more importantly the quality of the artwork was not representative of what they advertise. After some time they agreed to fix it and deliver it which was great. However the gentleman who delivered the cake went on multiple rants degrading me in front of my guests while I was trying to help my 1yr old (whos party this was) walk. We are in a time where degrading and berating women is becoming common place, where the inappropriate actions of a president open the door for inappropriate actions from an entire gender. As a female owned and operated business I expected a reaction when I brought this to Ms. Oakleafs attention, surprisingly she ignored the situation and her employee behavior referencing only the artwork issues in her one and only response to me. I am left shocked that she would support or condone such an astonishing customer service experience and the public degrading and humiliation of a woman helping her child walk.

I had an excellent experience with Oakleaf Bakery – the entire staff was very responsive and creative and I can say hands down that if you want a custom cake you need look no further. I requested a cake that featured an 18th century Scottish philosopher and all I sent them was a jpeg of a bust image of the man. The artist who took on the project did her own research and detailed the figure with period clothing and had him seated atop the two-tiered cake with his legs dangling over the side accompanied by books with appropriate titles on the binders(!) strewn on either side of him. It was amazing! And the people at the banquet were blown away. Everyone jumped up to take pictures with their smart phones and their I-Pads and exclaimed that they had never seen such a fabulous cake. It was awesome. And the cake itself was not only beautiful it was also delicious. I had chosen the Aztec chocolate and they matched the spices inside with a pumpkin flavored icing that blended well, and the pale orange finish looked great with the red coat of the seated figure. I read that the idea for this bakery came from one woman’s desire to combine her passion for art with her love for sugar and that is exactly what this was. And apparently she has found a whole team who share this vision. If you want your cake to be a work of art as well as a sumptuous dessert, this is the place.

They have a great selection of desserts, from vegan cupcakes to Bananas Foster homemade pop tarts to chocolate mousse trifles. The regular cupcakes are okay, but not great. The chocolate is not as flavorful and the frostings are very satiny and buttery, which isnt everyones cup of tea. The vegan cupcakes are delicious! Much better than the regular kind and awesome flavors like Oreo. The trifles are also exceptional, with layers of chocolate cake, chocolate mouse and homemade whipped cream. The bakery has little tables and is pink and gold-guilded for a feminine vibe. Theres often space to find a table to chat with friends or work. The baristas are friendly and helpful. Their greatest talent though is definitely decorating. Their cupcakes and cakes are really beautiful and creative. If you want a show stopping cake or to learn how to make one yourself by taking a decorating class, this is definitely the place to do it!
