I walked into Greenan & Sons in Silver Spring looking for an engagement ring. Greenan was recommended to me by a friend who had recently done business at their Beltsville location. Knowing nothing about jewelry, diamonds, or engagement rings, I was nervous to say the least. I quickly linked up with Damon Greenan and explained that I was in the market, but didnt really know for what. He sat with me for over an hour, explaining diamond grading, setting options, and showing my a few examples of each. I really appreciated the time and care he took to make the process easier on me and help me make an educated decision. After learning a bit more about my girlfriend, he began to suggest settings and diamond cuts based on the type of person she was. After a few more visits, we finally settled on a beautiful diamond for the setting we had selected earlier, and I ordered the ring. Sizing the ring was another concern for me; Damon made an educated guess based on my girlfriends size and assured me we could resize later on if necessary. He was right on the money with the sizing and the ring he produced was beautiful enough to bring tears to my fiances eyes. She still describes it as "perfect" and "exactly what she would have wanted". This is a great family business and Damon really takes interest in his clients. My fiance and I will definitely be back to do business with Greenan for our wedding bands. If you are in the market for an engagement ring in the DC metro area, dont buy until you visit Greenan.

Wonderful jewelry store!! I found John Greenan and Sons Jewelers by doing a search for jewelers in my zip code. I needed to have a diamond band sized down. I dropped the ring off at 9:30am and it was ready for pickup by 1pm (Cost for the size-down was $45). I also found a pretty 14K gold chain (Cost $50) which they shortened for me (for free) which was also ready by 1pm. I was assisted by Carmen. She was absolutely lovely- very knowledgable and enthusiastic. She promptly took care of the resizing of the ring, and was happy to show me other pieces from the showcase that I would be interested in purchasing in the future. The other employees were also very friendly and welcoming. This is the type of store that makes you want to do business with them. I am thrilled to have found a reputable jewelry store in my neighborhood, especially one with such a warm and courteous staff. Excellent customer service, very reasonable prices and FAST repairs! We used to LOVE this place, but in the last year they have really gone down hill. Eddie is loosing his memory, and cant keep his stories or information straight even in the 5 minute conversation your having. Also, itts a family business, which is usually a good thing. However, when you get bad service and ask for it to be corrected, family comes first - which means its the customers (i.e. YOUR) fault. Today, I left the store in tears because they were so rude to me! (After having failed to call me back one THREE occasions!) Although in the past Ive referred MANY young couples to get engagement rings, Ill be making calls today to encourage them not to go back. Im beyond feed up with a business that doesnt respect paying clients!

Very nice people! I walked in the other day for a problem I had with some jewelry, not from their place. They gave me honest advice. Showed me what was wrong and what was not. I offered to pay for their expertise because it wasnt even from their store. It wasnt needed, they just helped me out. I know where I am going next time. Thank you.
