This bookstore in Riverdale is the epitome of a well-run used bookstore, and it is the most recent business in the immediate area to fulfill this role in the past 50 years. I visited for the first time with my sister who had driven about 30 miles from Virginia to see the various changes in the neighborhood where we lived and grew up as children. This shop stood out as a welcome addition to the community. Robert Harper, the owner, was a knowledgeable man who told us he had moved to Riverdale from Pennsylvania. There were thousands of books on shelves waiting to be purchased and all reasonably were priced. To our amazement, we noticed a baby grand piano in the back area, with some comfortable chairs, and apparently it is used on occasions when book readings and signings are held. Coffee is available, and there is strong WiFi service. Robert Harper Books is in old Riverdale across from the train station. Dont miss this place. It is a welcome addition to Riverdale and I hope it lasts for years to come.

Im so excited to have found this place. The shop is obviously a labor of love. I finally found a home for my brothers unique and historic books (on consignment so I know Ill get what the market dictates) and I am looking forward to being a member of the community and coming by to hear music & sip wine! What a gem this little bookstore is....a wide selection of books on various topics, lots of antique books, rare and out of print books...in Downtown Riverdale by the railway station.
