My fiance and I live in Charlotte, NC and were in Shepherdstown, WV visiting an elder family member of his and did a little google searching for local comic book stores, after reading a little bit it, and finding out we were only about an hour away from the place, we put the address into my TomTom and set off. It was a lovely drive upstate, and once we arrived to the store we were amazed at the size of the place! Our local comic book store we go to in Concord, NC is maybe a quarter of the size of this place! Everything was well organized and the guy working there was very awesme and helped us find what we were looking for and talked to us about other great sounding stories. I personally, being the girly manga fanatic that I am was saddened by the amount (rather the lack of) of the manga they had, but they also had a ton of illustrated novels there ontop of the comics (even somewhere between 4-6 rows of $1 comic books!) and I happened to find an amazing manga called "Octopus Girl" ( rated mature for the gorey content and language). My fiance bought about $60 worth of comics and mine was only $13. We were very happy to find this store and buy their books, and next time we are up north again, we plan on visiting there again! We also highly reccomend this store to anyone else who is viewing this. Thank you, Beyond Comics, for such an awesome shopping experience!

Beyond comics was always a fun place to go whenever I was visiting Frederick. I liked looking at their clearance section and $1 comics. Been going there for the better part of 15 years now. I have always thought the owner to be rude and cocky. But that didnt ever deter me from making my visits to the store. Unfortunately I made the mistake of going one day while he was there. He proceeding to talk false information and spoke poorly of a competitor that was a half an hour away and pose no threat to his stores. I dont feel like that is a very professional way to act or talk while clientele is in the store. This happened over a year ago and I have only made my way there once since then. He needs to learn some manners and people skills. I think my biggest gripe about this place is that they sell back issues around the higher end of eBay prices and dont provide backs for you!! Out of control!! All those back issues are getting and destroyed, I really think if you own 3 stores (I think) and this huge storefront, that you could provide the measly cost of pennies per backboard to your customer base. You might get some of my money in the future, you might not. Im sure you dont care and I dont care either

I am 35 years old and needed a healthy escape from the "real world" (is there really a difference?). I grew up with comics, but I got away from it- no particular reason. On a whim I stopped in to Beyond Comics and the "Comic Book Cupid" shot me with an arrow (or dart...no, his laser), and I have been rediscovering the joy of comics. The shop is really big, much bigger then it looks from the outside with really high ceilings, wide and deep. If you like classics, independents, or the newest comics they have them. And the toys, statues, and collectibles- I felt like a kid again looking at all the toys. So if you are a comic fan, or it has been a long time coming to buy a comic- check this place out- you may find yourself getting that old Spiderman costume out of the closet again...geez, now I look like Spiderman with a gut- sorry ladies!

This is my favorite comic shop. I live about forty-five minutes away, buy my father lives in Frederick, so I usually wait until Im visiting him to go to this comic store instead of one closer to my house. I have two small sons, and their collection of kids comics is by far the best Ive seen in any store. And they have the huge hulk right in front to greet customers, which the kids always get a kick out of. Im only a casual comics fan, and I often have a lot of questions. The staff are always nice and friendly and helpful. Often in comic stores male staff treat their female customers like theyre idiots. But this has never been the case at Beyond Comics - at either the Frederick or Gaithersburg locations.

Iv been to dozens of shops in my travels. This is one of the biggest with the best selections this side of Midtown in NYC. I have had a subscription service with Beyond Comics for longer than the location has been here. Ive always gotten along well with the staff, They are helpful in locating books, figures, etc. There is even gaming tournaments-even though I dont play. They do a decent job of pulling my books every week and will track down what may have been missed. As long as I collect, make mine Beyond. The Gaithersburg store is a big plus too. If the Frederick store is sold out, they go to the Gaithersburg shop. They also seem to be pretty well networked with regional shops also for looking up stuff.

This shop....what can I say? Its like the Three Wolf Moon shirt of comic book shops. From the encyclopedic knowledge of comics by all the staff to their comic knowledge of encyclopedias...there is no question that cant be answered. All the current issues of the best are available, back issues are plentiful, the gaming section is outstanding and the toy and statue selection is without equal. Also be sure to get a picture of the literally, life-size Hulk.

Beyond Comics is a terrific comic store. They have a very wide selection of comics, games and action figures. They also have a very knowledgeable staff that is also very friendly. They offer subscription services for your favorite comics and if you miss out on a comic or need a special order, they take care of it ASAP. This place really is the one stop shop for graphic novels, comics (old and new), action figures, games and much more.

Perhaps I would have given this store 5 stars, too, but even though I was there on Friday, October 21, at 12:00, it was closed! Who knows when I will be that way again? Im sorry I missed you, but others should know that the times the store is open cannot be trusted. Perhaps they have only one employee who got sick?

We went to Beyond Comics for free comic book day the whole family went and the staff was patient and wonderful and the store was set up perfectly so that it didnt get backed up. Its a really nice comic book store and quite large with a great selection of action figures and books.

Amazing selection of current titles, with plentiful long boxes for filling in your collection blanks. For collectors of maquettes, figures, and premium toys, this is the place. Heck, just go to see the full-size scale statue of the Incredible Hulk, and youll stay for a while!
