I like the store very much and can spend hours there. In fact I usually buy much more than I have gone for. However I have had an awful experience getting knobs that I ordered after being told they would arrive in the store in two days. After a week of not hearing I called the store and was transferred to 3 people (which took approximately 5 minutes each) and was finally told that my order may have been misplaced and I should call the following day to speak to the manager about it who would perhaps to put in a new order. The following day, after waiting 10 minutes (and being transferred to 2 other staff members) to be put through to the manager, much to my surprise, the manager was one of the folks that had re-routed my call on the previous day. He was the fifth person that I spoke to (each time having to repeat my story) after keeping me on hold for another 10 minutes, found my order. Yeah! I thought my troubles were over... not so. Apparently orders are done manually and there is no way to check by computer if they have arrived so one has to go looking around the store to see where they might be. I was amazed at how many people I had to describe the knob to. I went to the store last Thursday to pick up my order and inspite of telling the cashier that they were being held in the managers office, when a stock person eventually got to the cashier, she told me she had a hard time finding them because they were not in the normal place... Listening skills? - apparently non-existent. As I had ordered 50 and didnt want to hold up the line counting them, I didnt open the order until I got home. My bad! Wouldnt you know the order was one short! This wouldnt be a problem if I lived close to the store, but it is a 50 mile round trip for me to go there. So I called store and asked another manager to please mail me the missing knob and he assured that he would but it wouldnt go out until Monday (3 days later). Apparently he needed to wait for a mail pick up! As I didnt receive today, Wednesday, I called store again and once more waited 5 minutes to be connected to said manager who advised, with no apology, that he would mail today. Lets hope that this happens because I was assured once before. I dont know if these are real managers or if the term is just being applied loosely, but I am really quite disheartened by the service I have had with this group. The cashiers appear quite friendly and helpful but this experience has been quite a nightmare (and it isnt over). I would be happy to discuss and provide names to any real managers/owners who are interested and sincerely hope that my continued bad luck was just an isolated incident. The store has a lot to offer but owners may want to invest more customer relations training in their "management" level staffing. Perhaps they need to know as a start, that businesses can fail, and they can be left jobless, if customers arent satisfied.

I love this store! I can literally spend hours in it. I will say that I think HL appeals much more to women. Theres a lot of pretty stuff, tons of chevron everything and floral prints. They have unique furniture and fashionable/trendy fabrics. I loooove their Fabrics. To me, its what makes them better than Michaels and JoAnnes. They dont have as much as JoAnnes but the prints they do have are more appealing to younger women who enjoy sewing. They have adorable decor for baby nurseries, great color-coordinated party supplies, and lots of items on sale each week. Plus, there is continuously a 40% off coupon for one regular priced item on their website so I just use my phone to bring that up every time Im there. Picture frames are all over the place and theyre typically on sale too. They have adorable wooden and metal signs for decorating your home and lots of fun knick knack kind of stuff. They also have lots of things teachers can use for the classroom too! If you subscribe to their emails, you can find out about their sales each week.

An employee of this store publically and purposefully humiliated two women who were shopping in the wedding aisle, referring to them as "filth." It appears that the employee was under the impression that the women were seeking décor to marry each other and felt the need to share her unsolicited personal opinion with these customers instead of just selling crafts. Now, being that these persons were not wearing "I am a lesbian and this is my lesbian lover" t-shirts, I take it that this assumption was made purely out of presumed bigotry. Even if these persons were a couple, and the employee holds opinions that may or may not align with these customers lives, such behavior by a store employee is unacceptable and inappropriate - just as much as any other racist or religious bigotry would not be welcome in a business establishment. Do NOT shop at this establishment, they may make their next assumption about you.

I dont know where Ivan has been shopping but I have never seen another place like HL. Especially their sales. Not beeing a train lover OR vehicle collector...have never noticed those sections in the store. That said, my husband and I drove from Reston, VA to Laurel, MD to shop at HL on Sunday. Tried to call the store but there is no answer at any store. Wanted to know if maybe the Columbia store was open. Drove there (another 20 minutes) only to find it closed as well. I used to shop at the Omaha store on Sundays all the time so was very surprised. Cant believe in this economy that it is very profitable to close on Sundays considering all the people I saw trying to get in. However, I think it is a practice that should happen more often in this country. Just wish I had know before driving over an hour to get there. An answering machine with store hours might be nice. Everyone doesnt use the internet.

I love this store and have been shopping here for years. Friendly people, good prices and cute things all over the store. Ive made fairly large purchases such as a table, large mirror, and some benches and small purchases such as candles, picture frames, seasonal decorations and gift wrap. Its a great store to try for if youre sick of seeing all the same things in Target. The employees are always courteous and helpful. Returns are easy. Never had a bad experience here. Way better than Joanns and Michaels too.

When I came in there was a big meeting with all the employees happening and everyone stared at me; I was worried I was coming in when it was actually closed because I was the only person but they told me to come in. As I walked by I overheard some of what the guy speaking (I assume the manager) was saying to the employees and it sounded kind of condescending. I felt like I was being watched the whole time I was there; it was creepy. I left pretty quickly.
