I found the selection of bras and swimwear to be meager and very poorly organized. The staff at first ignored me, preferring to fawn over elderly customers who apparently fit their preferred profile, then once I got their attention the first lady rudely showed me a couple of swimsuits. She preferred to focus on better prospects, however, so she dumped me off on a younger staff member. She was also very pushy and insisted I am a size or two smaller than I know I am and three sizes smaller than the first "expert" tried to force on me. I told her what I was looking for but she interrupted and tried to make me try the opposite. Even when things were clearly ill fitting she insisted thats what I needed until I was about to cry. Finally I told them I was done and thanked them for their time. The older lady brusquely told me it was my fault for coming "so late" (early July) - for swimsuits, apparently the rich folks know you must buy in December only. That really made me feel like a welcome, valued customer....Whatever. If youre from NY and are used to rudeness and dont mind grabbiness, youll probably love the place. I wont bother again.

I went in with high hopes, but was treated rudely (and barged in upon in the dressing room) by an older saleswoman who should have known better. I brushed it off, because a proper fitting would be worth it. Unfortunately, I didnt get that, either. She fitted me and told me I was clearly a 36E-- when I had recently tried on bras at Nordstrom and found 34F/32FF to be a better fit in every brand. She insisted and brought me several 36Es. When she came back, I (politely) showed her how loose they were in the band, and she grunted acknowledgment and brought me some 34Fs (she refused to bring me anything in a 32, as she said they would be far too tight). None of the bras was impressive enough for me to buy. (I was really disappointed in the small selection of "unusual" sizes like mine-- and really, a 34F is not a 30K or anything.) As I was leaving the store, and the saleswoman was walking past me, I said, "Unfortunately, nothing really wor--" She cut me off with a dismissive wave of her hand. I wont be back to Sylene under any circumstances.

I went to Sylenes recently to be measured and to purchase bras. The woman who measured me would not tell me what size I was and came back with ONE bra for me to try. She seemed nice and wanted to help me into it -- I really didnt like the feel of it so I one purchased one. By the time I was two miles away I was unhooking it. I discovered she had added an extender to the bra - This is not what I came for - I called the store from my cell and asked to speak with her - she informed me that was the closest size they had to what I measured. I told her that I was going to return it and she said that, because I wore it out, I could not. My purchase was over $100 and the bra does not fit. Oh, she charged me for the extender too. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. I went to Nordstroms at Montgomery Mall and was measured, had a selection of twelve bras to choose from, and left happy. GO TO NORDSTROMS they were much nicer and more reasonable.

Recently, I had the pleasure of having Mrs. Kestler, the co-owner/VP of Sylene of Washington speak at an event I hosted. She was absolutely wonderful! If her warm demeanor and extensive knowledge is any indication of the culture reflected at her store, I am in for a treat when I come for a visit. Keep up the good work ladies! Support this woman-owned store and Washington landmark.

At 31, I decided it was time to get a proper bra. And I needed help. The saleswoman at Sylene listened to my needs, determined my true size, and gave me a range of options to try. I walked away with two bras that I hope will revolutionize my underwear drawer. Time will tell, but for the moment, I am a happy customer.

I had a great experience at Sylene. Great customer service. I was uncomfortable with the idea of getting fitted, but was put completely at ease. Felt no pressure to purchase anything; wound up with a great bra and have been back for several more. Prices arent cheap, but worth it!
