Ive been going to quartermaine for a couple years now and have with few exceptions been pleased with the quality of their coffee. However, I am regularly put off by their staff. The wife recently ordered a drink that the employee was unfamiliar with but which she had ordered there before and met with inexplicable hostility. When she tried to politely describe it he only became more frustrated. Also, their WiFi settings seem to be set to allow only a very low limit of people to join - I have tried on no less than 4 devices including iOS and android. I normally would prefer to patronize local establishments but if they specialize in specialty drinks but only get exasperated when a customer orders one then I think Id rather cross the street to dunkin donuts where coffee is ok, the staff is cheerful, the WiFi always works.

Ick. I tried one of the frozen coffee drinks 2 weeks ago and the coffee tasted burnt. I like Starbucks so roasted coffee doesnt bother me but this coffee just tasted like burnt beans were scraped straight into frozen ice. It was way over sweetened. It was the worst drink Ive ever had. I wasted my money because I threw it out. I didnt have time to go back and complain . Today I tried the iced tea with fresh squeezed lemon and again I was disappointed. I could go on but Ive said enough. I wont be back.

Quartermaine seems to be one of maybe just 3 coffee shops in Bethesda, and it shows. The atmosphere is very charming, and they are not afraid to make their coffee stronger than Starbucks or Peets would. They also have some nice drinks like London Fog, which I dont recall seeing at many other cafes. However, I have had difficulty with their points system, which seems to be inconsistent at best. Even then, I think the prices are very reasonable nonetheless.

Overall, the coffee is great and most of the team members there are really sweet and welcoming...But recently theres been one older gentleman there (I think his name is Andy?) that has been giving me the creeps. The way he stares at me is off-putting and Im 99% sure that hes flirting with me and its just...uncomfortable. I generally dont give bad reviews but it gets so uncomfortable sometimes that theres days I refuse to come in.

I have to agree with the one commenter, the coffee is good, the pastries are ok, but the staff seems off. They are nice and fulfill the order and the wifi works well, but sometimes I could do with not having to listen to their conversations. The store isnt laid out really well either. There is always confusion by customers about which counter to go to for drinks vs. beans.

I find it a great stopping-off point on my bike ride in to work. Ive never found the staff to be anything but welcoming and its wonderful in the summer to be part of the community of coffee drinkers, local characters, dogs and others spilling out onto the sidewalk benches to read or chat with one another.

Amazing, locally-roasted coffee! Its great to have this option in town as an alternative to Starbucks or Peets. Theyve tried branching out into breakfast with some smoothies, but I havent tried those yet. Ask for the half/half lemonade and tea. Very good.

Cozy, meaning comfortably small, but with the amazingly ungodly amount of wall outlets, I bet this place gets packed quick. I would love setting up shop here and people watching all day, but then Id be that guy who just wont leave.

Wifi was reasonable. 2 hours on webbeams with purchase. Make sure to ask for a code. However as other reviewers have noticed, the staff is off-putting. Coffee was average.

Not a lot of seating but excellent coffee and a great location. I do wish they had more medium roast options, as it feels like everything is a dark roast there.

The coffee tastes great. The espresso drinks tastes great. Also, you can do a french press of any coffee beans they have in the store! Delicious!

I would come here when I take my car to the nearby dealer in the mornings and always made this my place I go to when I need a good cup of joe.

Customer service was really lacking. Really want to like local businesses but was just disappointed in the service.

Good coffee. They have fresh green smoothies too. Parking is tough. Only street parking available.

Best whole bean espresso in the DMV. Rates right up there with Peets -- way above the rest.
