I have always gone back and forth between Home Depot and Lowes, and my experience with HD over a new water heater has definitely pushed me towards Lowes in he future. I was out of town when the hot water heater at my rental property went out. HD has a deal where if you call by noon you can get same day installation. I called from another HD, and ordered the same day service for new Electric Rheem Performance Platinum water heater. I stressed the Wifi was important to me, bc I would be able to monitor from abroad. This product also came with a 12 yr warranty, which is also great for a primary home or rental. Because we are a military family, we also get 10% off the price so it sounded like a good deal. I received a call back from the installer (very limited understanding of the English language), and received the estimate (over $1000 more than the cost of the water heater). I was out of town, and needed it installed, so the high price seemed a moot point. I verified I wanted the Rheem Performanace Platinum with the built in WiFi, and approved the order. Everything was set for that day. Later that day the installer called back, and said it was good to go. I asked if they included the military discount, and he said I needed to contact HD. I thought I was dealing with HD. I asked to be emailed a copy of the invoice, and received an eligible picture of the invoice. Because the installer was not that good at English, I figured the invoice would be left with the tenants. I went to the house the next day and discovered the WRONG water heater was installed. Also, there was NO invoice. Unfortunately, we were moving to our next duty station the next day, and I could not go into the store. I called the HD, described what happened, and was told I should deal directly with the contractor. As a customer of HD, I should NEVER be told to deal with the contractor. To me HD is responsible for the entire transaction. The name of the guy that manages the contract is Tony Strake. I sent him a message, and asked that he call back at his earliest availability. He never did. The fact the HD can chose to go into business with a contractor with no ethics should be their problem to resolve. It should not be mine. I called the HD customer service line and explained the issue. The lady on the phone acted like it was my fault the wrong one was installed. They did not offer any solution to the problem, accept to install the correct one. That would disadvantage the tenants more so I asked if they could at least send me the invoice. She said she would, but it would take 24 hrs. 24 HOURS! What kind of archaic system takes 24 hrs to send an email. It has been several days, and we are now at our new duty station. Guess what...STILL NO INVOICE! I will NEVER shop at HD again.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have EVER seen. I bought a lawnmower last Aug., used it for the rest of the summer then tucked it away in my shed for the winter. Yes I drained the gas like they tell you to. When I went to use it in May it would not start. I took it to HD and they said theyd fix it. A month and a half later, they call and say its ready for pick up. They charge me $80 because they said there was old gas in the carburetor. I paid the $80 because I just wanted my lawnmower back. When I get it home I find that it wont start AGAIN. I take it back. The Asst. Mgr. proceeds to tell me that I need to take it to one of their authorized repair shops. So, not only have I wasted my time and money bringing this defective machine to them twice and paying $80 for a repair that was never made, now they want me to take it to another place. When I asked for a refund of my $80, the Asst. Mgr. refused. At the verge of losing my temper and manners, I told him to keep the piece of crap and left. I am a contractor that has a good-sized business and we USED TO buy a lot from Home Depot. The worst thing is that they have all my contact information and have made no attempt to remedy the situation. Im sure that they are fine with losing a long time, loyal customer. I have since opened an account with Lowes and will be taking all my business there.

While it carries everything a Home Depot carries, the customer service is deplorable compared to other store locations. I was asking a service member a question about extracting a worn screw and she handed me a drill bit kit and said "Ill be right back". She never came back. I finally found another service member and asked him and he spent the entirety of the conversation with me snickering with a friend who was standing nearby. I dont know if he was truly knowing what he was telling me. Ill keep on going to the Forest Drive Home Depot, where the customer service is excellent and helpful.

The other reviews have got to be jokes (guy cant start a mower and blamed the store?) As a REAL contractor from out of state i will honestly say this is one of the better Home Depots i have set foot in. Obviously suited more to contractors and specialist and a hell of lot a better selection of materials and building suplies than the store on the other side of rt.50 which seemed more for weekend warriors. Only downside is there is no easy access to the highways but worth going out of the way if you know what you need isnt something simple.

I believe in good customer service. several occasions I have needed help. Every time the have been great. They cut my wood down to exactly what I needed without charging. They could have charged me for the extra cuts if they wanted. On another occasion, they spent like a 1/2 hour helping me figure out what I needed to get the job done when I could barely explain what I needed. I have never run into a rude or unhelpful person.

At one time Home Depot was a great store but because their short sidedness they got rid of all the people who were contractors and cut way back on floor staff so you cant find anyone to help you find what you are looking for. There customer service is terrible. I only go there when I have to. I prefer a small hardware store were the service is usually excellent.

I will abbreviate: Bought a 400 dollar drill and the warranty, broken and they say "send it to the manufacturer" I reply "I bought your warranty that you suggested and asked if it breaks do I bring it back to you" they replied "yes" well f-me! Whilst typing this I have been on hold for over 30 minutes, PATHETIC! THE ABOVE GOOD REVIEW MUST BE THE STORE MANAGER.
