On our way to New Orleans, I was driving and starving, and I saw a sign for this place because my friends couldnt decide what they wanted to eat so I make the executive decision to give this place a try when I saw the sign. Its exactly 1.8 miles off I-10. Its just far enough off the interstate, that when you begin to think that you are lost, you are there. This place doubles as a seafood market/seafood kitchen. I was impressed by the very good prices on the fresh seafood, not to mention that they had frog legs and turtle for sale also......yummy! I ordered the Soft Shell Crab poboy. All I can say is wow! Now I understand why people talk about the food in Louisiana. Obviously, this was my first time in Louisiana and the first place that I stopped and the Soft Shell Crab is seriously good! One of my friends got the Shrimp poboy, which had to have at least 40 medium sized shrimp stuffed in it. I tasted one of his shrimp cause obviously there was no room for it in the poboy. I couldnt decide which was better the shrimp or the crab. Both were good enough to order both of them in one sitting and try to finish both of them. Seriously, just that good! This is one of those places that clearly a lot of locals patronize and visitors could possibly overlook because it is not in New Orleans proper. I wanted to stop on my way back to get some of that cheap seafood but we had too much stuff in my truck and we needed to get back to Atlanta. This place is a MUST if you find yourself driving into Louisiana and looking for some good seafood to eat before you actually reach New Orleans. This place has a kind of Southern dining appeal with the wooden tables and counter space on the wall to eat, but it is very comfortable. When I go back to Louisiana, I have to make it my business to stop by there at least twice next time.....feel like I cheated myself because we only got there once. If you make it to Kenney Seafood let me know what you think. I believed that you will be truly impressed by the food.

Im giving it a 5 star rating based upon a single visit and a single item consumed - the fried shrimp poorboy. I ordered the large one and I couldnt get over the amount of shrimp in it. But lets set that aside for the moment. The shrimp was very fresh and the taste was outstanding. On top of that, the breading was relatively light and did not overpower the shrimps flavor or quantity (meaning that each shrimp wasnt 30% breading like you run into elsewhere). The roll was fresh and tasty. Nothing to write home about, but a quality peace of bread. Now, back to the quantity of shrimp. A shrimp poorboy loaded down with a lot of decent shrimp doesnt make up for the quality factor, so I wouldnt give such a sandwich 5 stars. Since the shrimp was outstanding, and loaded with a ton of it, this is definitely an EPIC shrimp poorboy which Ive never seen anywhere else. If you love the shrimp poorboy in Lafayette at City Grocery (or whatever its called), which used to be my favorite, be prepared for this bad boy. It sets a new bar.

On Friday, January 17, 2015. I went to Kenneys to purchase some shrimp to fix for my wife and I. I ordered 2 lbs of the $5.99 per lb shrimp. Late Friday evening I removed the shrimp from my refrigerator and began peeling them. I found a lot of ice and water in the bag. When I finished peeling the shrimp I had 2 dozen shrimp. These shrimp are roughly 21 - 25 count. I did not get 2 lbs of shrimp. Saturday morning I called Kenneys and spoke with Eric, the manger and explained to him what had gone on and he was not polite and told me that these shrimp were 10 - 13 count shrimp which I told him were barely 21 - 25. He disagreed and told me to bring the shrimp back. I told him that the shrimp were already consumed and if he wasnt going to do anything to make this good I would take my business else ware and he didnt care one way or the other.

Ate here yesterday for lunch, opting for the boiled crawfish with a side of jambalaya. Both were terrific. The boiled crawfish had a flavor I havent tasted before, more than a hint of lemon and just enough spice to flavor without the usual lip burn. Great place for those who are just starting to eat crawfish. Jambalaya was also very good. Just the right amount of spice and portion was ample. The better half had fried catfish and was pleased. One star deducted for counter service requiring a thorough hand cleaning before slapping the wallet for another ice cold beverage. Allow a tab for adults and this is a solid five star fish joint.

Todays date is 3/7/17...i ordered 3lbs of crawfish and a small gumbo...i noticed my crawfisb bag was cold,so i reached inside the bag and asked could they warm them or cook some more willing to wait...long story short the answer was a "polite not at this time"...mind u they open at 9am...smh...no 1 knew how to do a refund...but 1 guy...smh...i will not b back due to lack of knowledge on the cash register and also poor customer service...i only gave 2 stars because the gumbo is good...but highly unsatisfied and yes im outside the building doing this review because i really had a taste for those crawfish

First of all when I opened my plate, the jambalaya and potato salad were mixed together, not just spilled over, literally mixed together. The staff did offer me another serving of the sides, however I have never had jambalaya with only rice - nothing but rice. I have lived in south Louisiana my entire life and never had rice only jambalaya. jam·ba·lay·a ˌjəmbəˈlīə noun a Cajun dish of rice with shrimp, chicken, sausage and vegetables. So Kenny Seafood - you forgot to add the shrimp, chicken, sausage and vegetables.

I am originally from Baton Rouge and now currently reside in South Carolina where its hard to get good crawfish. Kenneys had the best crawfish around hands down! Perfectly seasoned and spicy the way I like. They also had the best prices on seafood. We found this shop when we were looking for bait to go fishing at Lake Pontchartrain and we bought shrimp from them. We will definitely stop by there again when we are in town. Highly recommended!!

I have flown to Kennys in slidell from Rayville (N. Louisiana) many times to pick up fresh blue crab, Shrimp, crawfish, oysters and fish many times, I have never been disappointed and never gotten a bad deal. The sea food is always fresh and the deals are always good. I could fly anywhere to do my business, but Kennys has always had great help and great fresh seafood!! They have a huge selection of fresh Gulf fish on ice.

If I can give them a 6 star feedback I would! This is a must go to place and deff worth the drive. Its a local place with boiled shrimp by the pound (around 6$/lb) and they sell live lobster and are willing to boil it for you for free. I went three times in a week and would go back there again. Best place ever. I even bought two boiled lobsters 5.56lbs for $54. They were huge and very filling! Shrimp and oysters too.
