This is definitely not the best Walmart Ive been to. To be honest, its probably the worst. The first time I came here, my mother requested a bag of potatoes. As I picked up a bag of potatoes from the bin, I couldnt help but notice that it was leaking... upon further investigation, I found that every single bag was leaking and produced a foul odor. I returned months later with my mother and all went well until we started using the self-checkout register. I insisted that I pay for everything with my card but she wanted to (she had cash). She inserted bills into the register only to have it not recognize a $20 bill and she couldnt get it back. I requested help from the associate, who then contacted a manager. Customer service was seriously lacking. Initially they acted as though they couldnt do anything about it but I insisted that we would wait while they pulled the money from the register to count it, so that my mother could get her money back. They ultimately agreed and much to this managers chagrin, my mothers money was returned to her. However, they continued to treat us as though we were an inconvenience. I sent money via Walmarts Moneygram to a family member in New Roads from my location (MS). Ive done this at least several dozen times. I know exactly how it works and so does the recipient. I sent the money through the Moneygram website and on the following day, the recipient went to the New Roads Walmart just like every single time before that. (Note: I ritualistically refresh my account activity page on the website immediately following the transfer to get the much needed reference number for the recipient, to add to the receive funds form- doing so allows me to verify that the funds are ready to be retrieved.) The recipient contacted me because the associate in the Money Center was very rude and told her that the transfer didnt exist. I immediately logged into my Moneygram account to see if it was still ready for pickup and it was. I then contacted the Money Center and asked to speak with a manager, who verified that the money was indeed ready for pickup. The manager was helpful until I explained what had happened. She went from being helpful to defensive of the associates terrible customer service. Im not even sure what to make of that. TL;DR: Just make the longer trip to Port Allen Walmart. This place will cause more headache than its worth.

You can count on there only being 2-3 registers open during their busy hours, so if you have stuff to do wait for later in the evening. Ive been in line for 10 minutes, it hasnt moved and its 6 customers deep. People wearing Walmart smocks walking back and forth in pairs, looking at cell phones and laughing instead of seeing the backlog and jumping on the register. Honestly I hate coming here every single day but there is nothing else in this town. They say expected time spent in Walmart 15-45 minutes, but they never say that most of the time itll be just 45 minutes to CHECK OUT!

Store disorganized, cant find the product you looking for, 10 minutes to find price scanner, ask the deli associate are you cooking any more fried chicken (that was 1:40)she said will be ready at 2:20 , I shopped around then came at 2:40 was nothing there, I ask another associate is the chicken ready? She replied is going to be ready at 3:20. All this time not one box of 8 pcs fried chicken in the case on Friday afternoon. I feel sorry for New Roads people they have no options there.

This is my local walmart, so Im probably biased. I find most of what I need here. The community and associates at this walmart are generally friendly. The pharmacy and garden center are comparable to many in the country. It was a convenience for residents of New Roads and the vicinity to locate this store here.

Bought 2 day old deli chicken that was supposed to be freshly fried that same day. Sales associates are never in their areas, it is difficult to find items & lets not mention their checkout method...oh how I so miss the city!!

This is the most pathetic excuse of a store. They have no stock, no properly working self-checkout registers, and 2 manned registers open at a given time. Just as everything in New Roads this Walmart is garbage.

All of the associates sat outside and would tell everyone they were closed just so they wouldnt have to work. There wasnt any cleaning going on or any signs or reasons for them to be closed.

Because the men who works auto and refuse help about tire change with tire flat at 3 pm and I drove all way home to Lafayette la I use spare tire not safe they rude I arrived home 7 pm
