This was the first and last time that I ever go to academy to purchase a firearm. The customer service was terrible, you sit at the counter for the better part of an hour, waiting for a sales representative, whom has walked past you about 15 times already. Tried to purchase a handgun, and got my normal hold. Showed back up 7 days later to pick it up and was told that they havent received anything about my background yet and it could take up to 30 days. After waiting for 14 days, I went to cabelas bought the same gun for the same price and was able to pick it up in 7 days. Academy seems as if they dont even want to sell guns. No initiative was taken by them to look into my 14 day hold. Do yourself a favor, and go to a reputable place that deals with firearms on a regular basis. Let academy deal with only the more traditional high school sports as opposed to grownup sports.

On 1-6-17 I made a visit to this Academy Sports store located 10808 Industriplex Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70809. Very poor customer service teller by the name of ( Samarita ) see name tag told me I was next in line so I waited 15 min for teller to help her current customer redeem there award points. After she was done she told me the line over there was over in the corner she wound meet me there As I started to walk in the direction she told me she would ring me up. I immediately notice she had 11 people waiting in line. I reminded her (teller) she told I was next in line the liar cracks a big smile then replies, I didnt tell you that I place the merchandise down I was planning to buy we out to my truck posted this comment.

I purchased 6 kids shirts and the cashier left 2 security devices on them. Probably because he was busy talking to another person. Returned to have devices removed and the manager was very rude because I didnt have a receipt but showed on my banking where I spent the money in the store. My wife purchased some more items while we were there and you guessed it they left a security device on one of the shirts. Now I have to waste my time and money going back to the store. Customer service is terrible. Will start going elsewhere.

No customer service at all!!! I called the store 3 times about 8:10am b/c they just had open. I never got transfer to the dept I ask for. The 3rd time I ask for the manager, waited and waited no one never came to the phone. I go to the store, not a customer there get what I needed, go to check out, the employee said oh that was you calling, Im sorry. Customer service or what????

The cashier I dealt with was horribly rude. When I tried to make small talk with her, she ignored me. I paid for my purchases with cash and she seemed put out that she had to count the money and change. Youre a cashier, thats your job. Horribly rude. I heard her talking about me as I exited the store.

Just like Wal-Mart, they need more registers open for check out. Its really difficult to shop for ice chests or lunch kits because they are located at the entrance to the restrooms making it a high traffic area. People are constantly trying to get by you in that space. Its very annoying.

Friendly workers, prices cheaper than any other sporting goods store in Baton Rouge. My only complaint is that they dont have barriers keeping me out of the camping section, so I cant wander over and find some new gizmo or gadget that I suddenly "need". Seriously, its a good Academy.

The salesman in the guns department is really rude and has a problem with lesbians...my wife and I could not be helped, we shop their often but one day went to purchase a firearm and all we got were dirty looks and mean mugged by him, and we asked a question to only be ignored!!

No such thing as customer service exists here. They will put you on hold, hang up on you, and lie to you just to get you off the phone. Go to Cabelas or Dicks instead. This place is now the Walmart of sporting goods.
