Im a beginner runner and was having so much pain while running. I was constantly getting shin splints and numbness in my legs and feet. I was advised by a friend to go to First Gear and I couldnt be happier with my experience there. The man who helped me was so knowledgeable and worked with me to determine the type of shoe I needed based on the way I walked and the way my body moved. I felt like I was talking to a trained professional who truly cared about making me comfortable in my running shoes instead of a salesman looking for the next sale. He fitted me into a shoe that was 1/2 size bigger than what I was currently wearing, and the shoe was a motion control show with heel support. I wore them the next day and ran 2 miles without any problems. I literally couldnt be happier with my experience there, and for the first time ever Im excited to run these shoes into the ground so that I can go and buy another pair from First Gear.

In this age of online shopping and people always trying to get the best price, Ill tell you why Ive been shopping at First Gear Running Company for almost 10 years. Customer service. Whether its making sure I have the right products, Raquel cheering me on during workout nights and loaning me her training books, or Javier placing cones out on the College Hill course and then stopping to give me some water when he saw I was struggling, today--thats why I shop First Gear and nowhere, else. Great service to the Wichita running community and bang for your buck. Support your local, hometown businesses! Thank you, First Gear.

Excellent customer service and fair prices. I went in needing a pair of running shoes, and I am completely clueless as to what Im looking for. The staff selected three pairs that were best for my foot and to correct the inner knee pain I experience when running. I was surprised to find their prices were competitive as well. Sure, I could have gotten a cheaper shoe elsewhere, but I would probably still have knee pain. I looked for my pair online after purchasing and couldnt find them cheaper anywhere. They also have a great selection of other running gear. I will definitely return.

Was in there yesterday and the staff is great. I emailed them Thursday night with a question as I dont live in Wichita and had an answer when I checked my email the next morning. Was a bit worried on pricing as I couldnt see pricing on their site as Ive never spent more than $25 on a pair of shoes. The other store I was looking at had somewhat high pricing. Was happy to find that when I got home and googled the shoe I got it was basically the same as other places, if I were to buy online anyway. Will definitely go back if/when I need new shoes.

I am pretty new to running and have been increasing my miles. I noticed some pain in the arches of my feet while running. The gentleman I spoke with at First Gear was very knowledgeable and explained why my feet were hurting. He never once talked down to me and was polite the whole time. I do wish I had visited the First Gear before spending money on shoes that hurt my feet. I will be recommending this store to all of my family and friends!

The staff are very nice and helpful however, it took 2 weeks to get my pair of shoes into the store and I was promised 5 days. When I went to pick up the shoes which I had asked them to place on hold, they were the wrong size. I just wanted to get out and start running, but the whole process delayed me 2 weeks! I would go back there, but purchase a shoe on the spot instead of trying to have them order it and pick it up in a timely manner.

I hate buying shoes and dealing with pushy people that dont know anything about motion control shoes. I had a great experience at First Gear, very friendly and knowledgeable staff that took the time to help me find the correct shoe without being pushy or making me feel like I was taking up their time. Did I mention wonderful customer service and a great selection of shoes! These guys know their products. :)

Absolutely excellent informed and professional service from the staff, wonderful top of the line running products and a fun, fast atmosphere to boot. I learned about local run groups and races while I was fitted for shoes, and received advice for my next race, free of charge, from professionals!
