I ordered a 2-tier cake for my daughters 3rd birthday at "3 women and an oven" and truly regret it. This is the first time I write a review on anything, but I really felt compelled to. The cake was lemon with strawberry filling and decorated with Toy Story theme. Bear in mind I spent $200 on the cake. When I went to pick it up, the decoration was horrible... the characters were made with fondant and jammed together on "the front" of the cake, and nothing on the other sides or back. It looked SO cheap and poorly made. The top had Buzz which didnt allow me to put a candle. When I complaint, the "decorator" said that I should had told them that I wanted to add a candle and that it was my obligation to tell exactly how they should decorate the cake if I wanted something that I liked. The decoration is part of the service, not something extra. I explained that I could never have a birthday party for a 3-year child without a candle and that the candle was purchased along with the cake, at the store. They asked me to return later so they could fix it. They moved the characters around and looked ok, not outstanding. Then, to my surprise, they didnt placed a wooden (or plastic) dowels through both cakes, as they SHOULD. They placed 5 dowels in the lower layer and placed the top layer over the cake. When I got the party, the top cake has slid off the center of cake, since it WASNs attached AT ALL to the lower cake and damaged everything. The cake looked absolutely horrible and the only reason I didnt cry at the party was because I decided that it wasnt worth to be upset about a poorly made cake. Everyone who looked at the cake at the party asked "who did this cake???" with a disappointed look. I told them "3 women and an oven" and all I heard was "ohhh". To my surprise, the cake was dry and plain; didnt taste lemony and most of the pieces ended up in the trash. I ended up with more than half of the bottom cake left and the top one too as people decided not to eat after the first bite. If I could Ive less than 1 star, I would. There.... my first review EVER in a website. And I wont return for another cake, EVER!!!!

I LOVE 3 Women and an Oven and am a regular and loyal customer. It is my understanding that the 3 Women who started this bakery are Christian women and they do everything they do with fairness, style and grace. This is Johnson County, Kansas and this is a boutique bakery, not a cut-rate mass-produced, discount store. Dont expect to get items for a cheap price. Alternatively, the price is fair and worth every penny of what you pay. Everyone I love and those I work with are blessed with a girlfriend cake on their birthdays and unless you are a glutton or having a cake only dinner!!??, the cake easily serves 6 people (they are very rich and sweet cakes and I cant even fathom someone eating 1/2 of the cake!!). Their cookies, cupcakes (mini- and regular) as well as their specialty items are absolutely delicious. I have served them in large quantities at parties for >100 people, as well as for surprise birthday parties (sheet cakes) and for small groups. I have NEVER been disappointed and people continuously talk about them for a long time afterwards.... "that cake, oh that cake." I dont know who some of the people are that have written reviews on this site, but they must have been having a bad day or just be in general disgruntled sorts of folks. (I have on a rare occasion been waited on by someone new working behind the counter.. and they may not be as knowledgeable, or a bit slow.... do give them a break, didnt you ever have a first job and a first day on the job??) And, for those of you who want a cake for a 2 or 3 year olds party, Id suggest you go to Cosco or Hen House and save 3 Women and an Oven products for fine dining, adults and those who will appreciate them, or just get the cupcakes. IF youre going to have specific expectations, do give them the benefit of knowing exactly what your expectations are!)

LITTLE THINGS MEAN A LOT. OK..The website drew me in. For Breast Cancer Awareness month, I chose to purchase cupcakes for my co workers. Upon entry into the store, the girl was pretty friendly. My cupcake of choice was the pink champagne. I needed 5 & they only had a few in the front showcase. When she bought others from the back, the frosting was a different color. A darker pink. (STRIKE ONE) The icing color shouldve been uniform. I paid for them via credit card. I HANDED the girl my card. After she swiped it, she LAID IT ON THE COUNTER. (STRIKE TWO) Thats not how I gave it to her. I asked for an itemized receipt, not the copy of the credit card receipt & she didnt know how to print it. (STRIKE THREE) How do you NOT know how to print a receipt? Though she thanked me for my order & wished me a good day, she pushed the box on the counter toward me. (STRIKE FOUR) wow.. I guess it was too heavy to pick up & hand me directly. I also think she shouldve asked me if I wanted a bag instead of me asking her for one. And by the way...The cupcakes sold were not the cupcakes presented on the website, The frosted champagne cupcake presented on the website has a prettier star decorative icing. (One that takes time to decorate) The ones I received had a "mountain" of the standard swirl icing with sparkle. I can get standard swirled cupcakes from Costco a lot cheaper. (STRIKE FIVE) I will update later on how the cupcake actually tasted. CUPCAKE UPDATE.... 2 co-workers liked them & 2 didnt. I gave mine to a visiting kid & he LOVED the icing, but not the cupcake. For the price paid, I will stick with Costco. Sorry, this place is OVERRATED.

On June 22, 2013 my daughter got married and they ordered a beautiful wedding cake from 3 Women and An Oven. What a fabulous experience we had with the entire staff - Jayne, Leigh, Joan, etc...The design layout, taste, colors, and the overall value this cake brought to my daughters wedding experience was over the top. This is a very professional, skilled and talented business. I would highly recommend 3 Women and An Oven to anyone who is celebrating, honoring and/or planning a wedding. Lets not leave out the fact that the baby cakes, wedding cake, cookies, etc...were the total experience for my family & friends. The ingredients were highly favored. So as you can tell, 3 Women and An Oven just brings tears to my eyes because of the great service, professionalism and creativity my daughter and son-in-law witnessed. They were able to deliver the cake to one location and the baby cakes/cookies to another location without the cake melting (due to the hot weather we were experiencing). They did just what they said they would do as they were truly committed to fulfilling their obligation and our contract agreement. I never doubted their capabilities due to the meeting experience we had onsite. In addition to the overall experience, their pricing were within our budget and they are just great people to do business with if you are looking for excellent results. If I could share the pictures with you I would. Just know this, our hearts were filled with joy. Thank you to the entire team at 3 Women and An Oven. Five star business +++++++++++++++++++++++
