Im new to the Midwest and Iowa, since living here Ive heard a lot of buzz about Hyvve, so I thought Id check it out. The store was huge, it seemed to stretch for miles in all directions, I actually got lost for about 3 hours inside the store looking for away out. I kept asking the employees if they could help me find the exit but each one kept responding to me with the same phrase "If you do not know now, you will never know" I finally found the exit but have to find the checkout which took a additional hour to find because it is no where close to the exit. Once going through the line I had to use the restroom which i could also no find, at this point I decided not to even ask the employees for help because I felt like breaking down and crying, if one more person had done something in that store to me I would have. Anyways since I could not find the bathroom I had to go to the bathroom in the bread aisle, I used a bread bag to my business and put it back on the shelve because I had no idea where else to put it. Once I was able to get back to the exit and then out into the massive parking lot, I had trouble finding my car. I asked some of the employees pushing carts for help. A few of them came up to me as a group and referred to themselves as "The Cart Monkeys". This made me curious and I inquired why they called themselves that. These young boys that made up the group told me that they called themselves that because of their reputation for doing such a good job with carts. These boys eventually helped me find my car, but then all of the sudden they started flinging eggs at my car, I started to scream and beg them to not do that because the eggs would freeze and be quite tough to get off. When I started to scream for help they started to pelt me with eggs, then they rammed a bunch of carts into me from behind, I fell over and screamed in agony. They continued to throw eggs at me till they ran out which was about 2 minutes after I had fallen to the ground. Then they started to kick me repeatedly as a group. After about 5 minutes of them kicking me one of them(Whom I assume is the ring leader of this band of bandits) leaned down and whispered in my ear "This is why were called the Cart Monkeys you spineless shrimp" After that they ran back into the store while I was still on the ground. The eggs they had pelted me which made it hard to get up because they had froze while they kicked me and I was frozen to the ground! I struggled to get up and then slipped on the eggs and fracked my head open. I ended up driving to the hospital and now have a broken rib, a concussion and a broken ankle. Definitely never shopping at any Hyvee again!!!

Just wanted to let you know how the pharmacy at this location has changed over the 20 year my family has been doing business with them. The service that is provided has gone down not up. There have been several issues over the years that I have felt let us down but this one is the best. Last fall this pharmacy gave me somebody elses prescription and when I called to let them know they wanted me to drop what I was doing to bring it back right away. I told them I was on my way out but they said they wanted to send somebody to get it and for me to wait. I finally had to say NO, you made the mistake you will have to live with it until it works for me. The employee I spoke to was not Hy-Vee quality. I cant tell you why this pharmacy has these issues except that maybe they have too many trainees from different colleges and universities in there at one time. Today it is all about making it easy for the customer not trying to run them off. Hy-Vees email response: Thank you for writing Hy-Vee. I am very sorry that you have been disappointed with the level of service you’ve encountered in our pharmacy at the Urbandale store. I forwarded your comments to Josh Asche, store director of that location so he can review your remarks and contact you. I have also forwarded your message to Josh’s supervisory officers for their review. Thank you for letting us know about your experience so we can investigate. Again, I am truly sorry that you were disappointed with your experience at this store. Sincerely, Kelly Judisch Customer Service Representative Hy-Vee Inc I received a call from the manager of the store today, again another sorry, but no "I will talk to the staff and try to figure out what we need to do to get better" or the likes........ Other pharamacies offer so many more services for the same price......I now know!

My insurance was improperly entered by one of the pharmacy interns, so I was told that it was not active yet (although it was). It took a while due to the holiday season, but I finally connected with manager Dave Hester, who helped me straighten things out and refunded the insurance premium I had to pay on my old plan due to the impression I had been given that my new insurance was not active yet. I didnt want to be without, so I had held over my old plan to the tune of $165, and this amount was refunded in full! This was one of the best customer service experiences of my life. After the cluster that was my experience with Billion Kia in Iowa City? Ill gladly take another mix-up with this HyVee. Theyre fantastic!

I nervously ordered a Black Forrest Cake for my husbands birthday. When I arrived to pick it up the description said, "Black or white?" It looked beautiful, but until the first cut I was still nervous. After the first cut and then the first bite I can say what a masterpiece of a cake. Thank you for adding just the right amount of magic to my husbands Birthday. The staff endured my questions when I ordered the cake and when I picked it up and offered to replace it if it wasnt a Black Forrest Cake. No need and thank you again for adding another reason to my long list of why your store is my favorite store for, breads, specialty cheeses, health foods and a host of other items.

Hy-Vee is a racket. More than once I left feeling like someone had tricked me. Seriously. The fuel saver is awesome sure, but the signage can be deceiving and I just dont think that is neighborly to not CLEARLY state what qualifies and what doesnt. The parking lot is an accident in the making.. (I speak from experience) People, when your back up alarm is going off, dont keep backing up! Bottom line, prices are to high, feels like corp is more about manipulation than keeping a long time customer. If you havent already, I highly suggest you check out Fresh Thyme and Aldi.. Same thing, better prices.

Some will say they prefer the "old school" grocery stores in the area to the more modern-feeling Hy-Vee, but I tend to navigate to the better selection, even if the prices are a bit more. My family shops for a lot of organic items, which means 10% off Wednesdays in the Health Market section of the store are attractive. The organic produce section is uninspiring at times, but the overall produce department has good selection. Liquor store selection here is outstanding. Now if we could just get Hy-Vee to install self checkouts.......
