Smaller store that has all the basics. Downside for some is that they dont carry the variety of major brands as larger stores. They do have some major bands as well as their own. Meat department has carried a reputation for quality meats, they will custom cut meats on site. Purchases from floral department have never thrived for me, look great but I would skip it and pay more elsewhere. Produce is what you would expect. No on site bakery, but goods are offered. Prices are competitive coupons accepted. Truth is, I am drawn to the friendly competition, for me, its worth it.

Stopped by the Waukee Fareway today at 1:15. Went to the milk aisle to purchase dip. There was an employee blocking my ability to get to the dip without squeezing behind cart. Then was having trouble reaching dip because I couldnt get to it easily. Employee did not offer to help by moving cart or help reach the items I needed. She just kept straightening the same orange juice carton over and over. Poor customer service.

I love Fareway. Its a little like stepping back into time shopping here, and I mean that in a good way. Its not like so many stores that feel that they have to entertain you. Just food, laid out in a manner that makes it easy to find. The store is clean. The staff is helpful. I really didnt know what to think upon first moving to Iowa but have really come to love Fareway.

The staff is always great, especially the guys at the meat counter. The young high school gals who check us out are always friendly. I would go to a fareway over hyvee any day.
