I come into this store for pico de gallo. I go to where I think it would be. It isnt. I asked an assistant manager. He says the store does not carry it. The accompanying manager believed the store did and decide to check the other possible location. I waited in the deli area. I waited. I waited...and waited. As, I began to walk away from the deli, this young clerk approached me, to actually assist me in searching the deli area that I just looked. I was feeling annoyed because the manager that had me waiting did not return and that this young man went on to suggest that I use salsa in the place of pico. I told him it was for a specific recipe. He went on to suggest that if it was he, he would drain the salsa and use it in that manner. It annoyed me even more! When I saw the manager, he didnt speak with me until I told him I was taking exception to him sending some kid to give me suggestions using a substitute instead of him having the courtesy to come back to complete our interaction of service in his store. Maybe I am asking much, I hesitate every time I think to go in here. Such a high end store (according to the prices) I think Customer Service would show better.

Like most of my job, I was in need of something unique. After brainstorming with my team, it was decided large candy bars were needed with a customized label. Being a graphic designer, it was to be done in house. All the bars I had found werent striking enough - I needed the silver foil to set them off. After going to several other stores, I went to Hy-Vee with hopes of finding exactly what I envisioned. I was in luck; they had 5lb novelty Hershey bars! The only downside: I was in need of 20, and they only had 4 on hand. That is when Wendy L. went above and beyond to help me obtain the remaining bars from around Des Moines. She did all the footwork: Working with the Hershey vendor, calling store-to-store, and either picking up or having the items delivered to her store for my convenience. I should also mention Hy-Vees price, even compared to online vendors, was lower by several dollars. Overall, this was the best experience I have ever had with a single employee from any given store. I would recommend Hy-Vee on Valley West Drive in West Des Moines and Wendy L. Thank you!

I have always thought of Hy-Vee as a fairly upscale grocery store. But here in Des Moines, I can not get over how poor in quality their produce often is. Often times I go to store specifically to get items like grapefruit or asparagus and have to leave empty handed because there is no way I would pay money for the garbage they actually put on the shelf. However, this is the last straw: I bought a One lb. (large) container of Earthbound Farm Organic Blend last night. It looked fine. However, it is already starting to go very rotten and smell TODAY. Less than one day later! I will end up throwing away at least 70% of the large container, which should have lasted a week. It boggles my mind to say this, because I do not support their practices or believe in the general quality of WalMart products, but I have seen much better produce purchased by my friends at WalMart. Unbelievable.

Asked for Compost stickers and service desk was OUT Wednesday of the first week of WDM pickup! This nothing but poor planning and management of the customer service desk. PIck Up start has been announced in ample time for having hundreds of stickers on hand period. We have shopped at this store since it opened. Jordan Creek store had none either. Rediculous! For your information Dahls at 50th EP True and 13th and Grand both had a drawer full.

I grew up in a town without Hy-Vee and when I moved to Des Moines I went to this one. I was hooked after the first trip. The selection is wonderful with just the regular products but the addition of the health food section make sit that much better. The product is averagely priced but the sales and fuel savers make up for it in most cases. My only complaint is that the staff is not particularly personable.

This is the closest hyvee to me and I come to this location often. Honestly I have the worst experience with this hyvee than I do anywhere else. Their produce is never ripe, and they are constantly out of fresh herbs. At first I thought this would be a one time occurance but it happens every single time I am there. Apparently I will have to go to whole foods for avacados that are actually edible.

This Hyvee has the most accommodating dietitians. Above and beyond friendly, and helpful. I recently had surgery so they put together 10 meals of a specific meal plan and I was able to pick up my meal plans through the drive up! All I had to do was make one phone call and the dietitian Jen made everything happen!

I love Hy-Vee in general, but really dont like going to this location. It is older and doesnt have the fun atmosphere that most modern Hy-Vees have. Its also a real pain to navigate in traffic and access parking to this place. Id avoid this one unless youve got no other options.

This is a Great Hy-Vee. Very helpful and friendly folks work here. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because its a smaller store and cannot stock as much of a variety as the bigger stores. With that said, they are very accommodating by ordering stuff you might want.

Only went in because my wife happened to shop here on her way home from work. Needed to return an item that expired the same day she purchased it. Stupid policy of returns only at the exact store the purchase was made from.

Their prices, service, and abundant selection are all great! The deli counter and bakery are particularly well done and they have an entire section for health conscious shoppers with organic, gluten free, and bulk options.

Put in an bakery order for a bday and they told me they didnt get it because the manager was on vacation. They made it right there but the cookie was frozen and I was late because of the wait. Didnt even get an apology.

I trade usually at the store on 1700 Valley. Everyone is very friendly, recognises me. Everyone in the pharmacy calls me by name and goes above and beyond to help me. Great store and employees.

Overall this store has a decent selection for its smaller footprint (compared to the Mills Civic or 86th & Douglas locations). The seafood counter and freezer are sad.

This is an extremely nice Hy-vee, the selection is fantastic. My only complaint would be to watch out for people in the parking lot. Its not the greatest set up.
