I have been to literally HUNDREDS of Harley Dealerships over 25 years. I have owned countless, and I literally mean COUNTLESS motorcycles over the years. Big Barn Harley is the ABSOLUTE WORST experience I have ever had looking at a used bike!!! the salesman talked me into driving an hour and a half to the dealership to look at a bike. I specifically told him I would buy it and drive it home. he did tell me it was "as is" which is expected, Ive done it countless times. when I arrived with my wife and two children, the bike was NOT EVEN ROAD WORTHY!! I started it up and new right away the base and head gaskets were out as oil started streaming down the engine and LITTERALLY BUBBLING out of the bottom of the cylinders. I took it for a test drive and it backfired and died 8 times in two miles in heavy Des Moines traffic!!! NO DEALERSHIP should EVER let ANY customer drive a bike this bad on a public road during heavy traffic!!! Ive ridden for over 25 years and it was the most worried Ive ever been on a bike and Ive owned ALOT of junk bikes over the years!! when we got back to the dealership the mechanics said "yea, we know the motor is shot and it needs completely rebuilt. the bike shouldnt be on the road like it is, we havent even INSPECTED IT!!!) I wasted 3 hours, and 30 bucks worth of gas to drive half way across the state for a bike that wouldnt even run 1/4 mile without stopping dead in the road!!! Litterally the absolute worst Harley experience Ive ever had in my life!!! I thought Harley Dealerships had standards they had to meet.... I was wrong to assume that.

I came in to Big Barn HD looking to purchase a bike and ended up walking around for 20 min. looking for help. The sales staff acted like they were ignoring me on purpose. When I tried to contact one of the sales associate (because they would not contact me) the gentlman very politely said "hello" and continued to walk on past me as if it did not matter if I had any questions. So needless to say I did not end up purchasing from Big Barn. The sad thing is that it was raining on this day and there was only 3 customers total in the store, including me. I have worked in sales for 15 years and have never seen a dealership environment that used this sales plan and I have no idea how Big Barn has become so large if they refuse to help their customers. I must say that I am very disappointed in Big Barn and the Harley Davidson brand for having a dealer like this. I went to another local dealership and received wonderful customer service and will be purchasing from them instead. I am not listing the name of the other dealer because I dont want people to think that I am advertising for them and that this is why I am rating Big Barn so low. I really hope that Big Barns management will see this and do something to improve their current policies.

Went in to get price on 1000 Mile service, $348. Asked the guy at the service counter if it voids the warranty, response was yes (it doesnt). I left it at that. As long as the work is done properly, and the quality of the workmanship is not the cause of the failure your damn right my warranty still applies. So $348 dollars, $110 in parts + $238 in labor. Keep in mind I paid mark up on parts typically 30-70 percent. I know whats involved in the service, I know how important it actually is. I kinda expected this response based on friends and co-workers past experiences with their service department. More upset with the fact that the guy at the service counter didnt seem to care anymore once I asked that question, I mean seriously you think the mechanics in that shop care more about my bike than me? Get real. On the plus side their parts guys are awesome, got me what I needed in and out fast. "The Magnusson-Moss act protects the consumer to the extent that a warranty repair can only be denied to you if the company can prove beyond a doubt that whatever you did (or failed to do, be it mods or maintenance), directly resulted in the failure to your bike."

I currently live in Chicago, but Des Moines is my hometown. I stopped in to Big Barn during a recent visit home and I was slightly disappointed. I work motorclothes at a dealership in Chicagos north suburbs and we work really hard to make sure that everyone who walks through our doors is warmly greeted and attended to when needed. We make our customers feel at home and like family, even if all theyre buying is a pokerchip. I walked in and no one said hello. I paced the t-shirt wall for about ten minutes and not a single person approached me and asked if I needed any help. I was standing by the counter looking for shot glasses, and instead of a friendly, "Can I help you find anything...", I was approached with "Oh. Are you ready?" And when I was actually ready to check out, I was greeted with, "Oh. Now youre ready..." They were having some kind of trouble with their computers, and I was nearly completely ignored by the girl checking me out while she was irritatedly talking to her co-worker about the issue. I was very disappointed. The customer service was pretty subpar.

I have to stay put here in Daytona Beach, FL for awhile. My old raggedy jean jacket; that I still have since I became a novice biker in the early 90s, reads "Road Queen" and I became an adventurer like my family and friends. They are doing my dream rides now where I wasnt able to continue. I have been on the mend for awhile. They are now experiencing a wonderful dream I was doing on my motorcycle called 2000"Road King" with over 200,000+ original miles thru today but we both need much needed repairs. across our wonderful country. My friends are marking places they have visited. You were one of their rides recently. I did not have a chance to visit your Harley Davidson personally & they help me heal with sharing their adventures with me. TY HD I have never been too and I feel I am with them in "SPIRIT for now. This is helping me heal with their road stories:) Angel U aka J. Utterback

Lost my business. I was negotiating the trade of my Sportster for a new one from the Barn. While doing so, I bought a helmet to surprise my wife, as she needed a new one. I bought a small, but found out that she needed an extra small. I tried to exchange it (never worn) when I returned to finish negotiating on the new bike. They told me "no returns on helmets". I explained it was just a size issue and I had just bought it the day before. They refused to exchange the helmet for an XS. Needless to say, they lost the sale of a new Harley over a helmet. Bad business. (I purchased a new Sportster in Iowa City and they exchanged the helmet for me)

I ordered a part on 6/5/17 the parts guy told me 2 to 3 days, I called on the third day and was told it wasnt in yet, I called the next day was told it wasnt in , I called on Monday which was 7 days later still not in, on Tuesday 8 days from the day I ordered the part I stopped in and was told it was still not in, I asked for my money back and got it, all i want to know is why no one called the place where they ordered the part from to see what was taking so long, every time I called they seemed disinterested in helping me, will never set foot in there again.
