I went to Lowed to buy a left drain tub. Simple enough request. Purchased it indoors, went out to the lumberyard where the tubs were and waited. Waited. And waited. After about 20 minutes some guy decided to show up with his forklift. He found the tub, loaded it up and I headed out to the security gate. Security checked my load, and I went home. Got home to unload the tub in the garage and I noticed it was a right drain tub, not a left drain. So I headed back to Menards (20 minutes one way) and headed to the service desk. The guy seemed confused on how to return a product to the lumberyard so he had to call for help. 10 minutes later help arrives and Im instructed to go to the security gate at the lumber yard. I get there and explain, and the security guy makes me fill out paperwork to return my product. I was flabbergasted that Menards already wasted so much of my time and now they were going to make me fill out paperwork to fix their mistake? Ridiculous. I filled it out and headed back over to the tub area. It took 3 workers over 45 minutes to find the correct tub and then they had to load it up. I wasted half a day just trying to get a left drain tub. I contacted the store manager and corporate HQ about the issue. Neither offered me even an apology. I now avoid Menards like the plague and encourage others to do so. Lowes and Home Depot both offer 10% military discount, so that encourages me even more to shop there.

Spent 2hrs at this particular store today, 15-20min waiting for an employee to come along and retrieve an item from a high shelf, which during the process of putting it on the cart broke the glass globe on the lighting fixture I was also purchasing. I then had the privilege of waiting in a checkout line for 10min with out movement, apparently the cashier wasnt familiar with how to accept a check from the customer they were helping. I was able to move to a newly opened line without a wait, cashier was pleasant and was trying to do a good job, the computer didnt, after ringing up items and them being placed in bags etc the computer errored and would have required rescanning all of the items. At this point I wasnt willing to deal with it and spoke to a manager whose only solution was to tell me to call corporate. Long story short this type of poor customer service is common at this location avoid it.

I never used to have a problem with shopping at Menards. Lately, Ive had issues with employees not knowing where to locate items and unwilling/unavailable to assist. I left the store without locating the item that the website said was in stock in the store. The store is not arranged very well as I was looking for a roofing material and roofing materials seemed to be all over the place. I left and went to Home Depot where all of the roofing materials were in the same aisle, I didnt need to ask anyone for assistance. This store needs to improve upon its service. The cashier didnt ask if I found everything and no idea what the item was that I was purchasing. The item didnt have a tag on it and took 10 minutes just to figure out how to ring me up. I purchased a bundle of hardwood flooring. It wasnt something that a regular person wouldnt recognize.

Menards generally has a better selection of brands for various items though many of the complaints about organization and staff are true. Today this store had its garden center doors locked and said go to the main door. The long walk from the front to the garden center was enough of an annoyance that I just left. No cashiers out there either so youd have to walk all the way back inside pushing or lugging heavy items. This on a warm weekend day in the peak of startup season. I saw multiple people leave like I did before I drove out. I guess they didnt need as much sales. Ill still shop here but that was really stupid, the long lines out there are bad enough.

Menards is a terrible company. Ive had a ton of problems with the employees and mangers. One incident I was looking through thr 2x4s to find some straight material. Employee starts yelling at me and gets in my face like he wants to punch me. Most recently after spending over $2500.00 on retaining wall materials the general manager Dan refuses to give me a refund on extra supplies that is about $150.00 because I am 10 days over the 90 day policy. This store is full of bad people and bad policies. They love to take your money but refuse to give it back. They are very rude and extremely unhelpful. Never shopping here again.

2015 Update: I have returned to Menards a few times since my initial review two years ago and noticed an improvement in service quality. The employees I encountered are trying much harder to be courteous and helpful. Good job! 2013 Lumber products there seem to be of lower quality than Ive found elsewhere, and employees are WAY less than helpful. Most seemed to have a bit of an "attitude" and made me feel as though I was wasting their time. The only redeeming factor that would ever prompt me to shop there again is that they have low prices (if you can find a quality product to buy).

No frills, limited help, find it yourself, save a bit more at than Home Depot or Lowes - thats how I would describe Menards. If you know what youre looking for and where to find it, youll be fine. Been quite a few days of long lines as they under staff, and I dont understand how its even allowable to have Satellite TV sales reps roam around in the store pestering people about signing up. If youre good with that - know that they have a fairly large selection at reasonable prices... just dont go if youre in a hurry or need assistance.

They rob from you and do not care. Dan, the manager did not care. He chose to impose a 25% punishment "restocking" fee on a couple items we ordered online and picked up at the store. These terms are literally buried in link after link online. No indication of this when ordering. They stole from me. They will not steal again. BEWARE - THEY SIMPLY ARE OUT FOR THEIR OWN POCKETS! No friendly customer service here! Who cares if you are renovating? Horrible store. Horrible service!

The gentleman in electrical was very helpful in helping us locate supplies for my childrens science project (jerry i believe) unfortunately the cashier Naomi acted as though we were a hinderence and tossed the items i was purchasing down the checkout belt, breaking bulbs and not communicating wether to use chip or swipe card. Although bulbs were affordable. I now have to make a trip to replace them. As any business minded person knows one bad experience outshines any good.

Worse experience ever with a retailer. Took an MTD product back for exchange or refund and was told they dont stand behind any product with a motor?? How can a retailer sale you something that they dont stand behind? Purchased less than 30 days ago. Used for the first time today after snow stopped and ended up shoveling my drive by hand. Everyone needs to stop buying any motorized products from Menards as they will not stand behind the products they sell.
