My college-aged step daughter stopped to get a tire replaced that had been damaged, which should have been a simple replacement on her front wheel drive car. They convinced her to rotate the tires so that the new tires went on the back, and the older ones on the front, stupid mistake first off. She drove the car home, and it sat for a couple weeks since she didnt need it while working/school. She then tried to drive the car out to Illinois to visit us and she got about 45 miles away from Cedar Rapids (east of Iowa City), and the car started shaking, so she got off the first exit she could and before she could get to the top of the exit the front passenger tire came off, the car skidded along the ground damaging part of the body, the spindle, bearings, etc. Luckily at that exit was a car dealer that helped her quickly get her car repaired (the same day) and did just enough so she could get back home. We contacted Sears, and at first no reply, many months of trying to contact, we finally get a call from their lawyers. Not once did anyone apologize, or say sorry, the only thing they were concerned about was that they didnt cause this accident and were in no way liable. If she hadnt made it to the exit when she did, the outcome could have been worse if that tire had come off at interstate speeds next to semi trucks. We werent looking for some outrageous compensation, only to cover what we had already paid to get her car back on the road (which they said we shouldnt have done and had her car towed from the middle of nowhere back to Cedar Rapids), and to finish getting the front-end repaired on her car. I can honestly say we will never shop at any Sears or K-mart again because of this and urge everyone we talk with to do the same.

Me an my wife went here to get our oil changed on our truck. well they did change the oil. but, less then 3 days later, we had smoke flying out of the hood, an into the cabin of our truck. we pulled over an i popped the hood, turns out the radiator hose clap was completely loose and the hose was disconnected. now the hood was never open since we left sears, so why did this happen? Let me tell you why, i had a friend come out here to visit all the way from Omaha, NE, he also went to the sames sears to get his oil changed, and what do you know, few days later his radiator hose ended up the same way. looks like its time for me to start getting my hands dirty changing my own oil. when you go to a mechanic to get your vehicle maintained, and the mess with something so you have to come back later and pay them more money, its sad and pathetic. this is not the ghetto.

I had them change my tires and they did my alignment and some other work they said that needed to be done. Well they messed my car up completely!! They forgot to put something back on my car and my axle almost broke and I was stuck in the middle of a street cause my car wouldnt move. When I called and told them they wouldnt even send s tow truck. They said it was all fixed after i had it towed to their store and it didnt cost me anything. But now my car alignment is way off. I will never go there again.

I went in to have a full set of tires put on. They had asked if I wanted to white walls in or out I stated in. When I got my car back they were out. I had to reschedule to have them fix their mistake and then when I went back for my scheduled appointment they had my down for some under carriage work. I would not go back to them. I unfortunately have my tire warranty through them. I wish that I would have never gone there.

EDIT: I received a phone call today from the Regional VP for Sears Auto. We had a wonderful conversation and he has assured me that steps were being taken to improve the quality of service. At this time I will continue to be a customer at Sears Auto and I consider my issue resolved.

Hi I got my license plates changed by them without a fee. That was nice. For my friend in Camp Hill, PA, the Sears Auto Center there did not even change the plates. It hardly takes a screwdriver to change it.

They are always very helpful and willing to explain what services are needed before performing them. Also very fair prices.
