If this was the only Asian market here in Cedar Rapids, or if you lived close, someone might try to salvage a few non-perishable items and get out of there; however, Saigon Market is leaps and bounds better than this store, so why bother? JoJo is struggling to keep shelves stocked and stay in business at all. I wouldnt touch anything here that has a short shelf life. I went here to grab a bottle of fish sauce and the sauce was a cloudy brown consistency and looked to be rock solid inside. It was disgusting. Maybe some of the produce or frozen items have potential, but its the little things that count. The place is dirty and unkempt, they allow spoiled food products to stay on the shelves, and I have no trust that the other items are maintained well. They also have a poor selection compared to Saigon Market, so you arent likely to find everything youre looking for anyway.

Despite being a grocer of somewhat questionable repute in the beginning, this store has undergone big improvements in the last year or so. When I first started going there in 2010 or so, I often found moldy produce and other questionable food storage practices. I have been shopping here again more frequently and they seem to be under new management. Food stock seems to be going through more thorough rotation, produce selection is sometimes impressive and very fresh, the store is kept a lot more clean and the best part is that they now prepare carry-out or dine-in meals. The menu is pretty traditional chinese fare, but it is some of the best chinese food in town and the portions are huge and very cheap! I highly recommend stopping in for some out of the ordinary dinner ideas.

I have worked next to this restaurant for two years now. In the last 6 months this store has gone completely down hill. They have minors (yes kids that dont look a day over 9) working for them. We will come into our store to open in the morning to find it having odor of rotting food. We step out back to find bags and bags of rotten food leaking all over the place. Weve seen mice and bugs all over the place, the bugs we have seen inside the store as well. Yes we, as well as the other tenants in the mall have reported them multiple time to health department, and yet they are still open....

Maybe its under new management (I hope) but when myself and my husband went their we were treated rudely by the cashier (perhaps the manager?) Who followed us around like we are going to shop lift. Yup, two geeks in glasses are a total threat.. Anyways the store was a mess, things were not organized in anyway that made sense. Tea with the soy sauce, Turkish delight candy next to cans of beans... crazy. The prices are a bit more then Saigon. All in all, just got to Saigon. They are helpful and everything is organized nicely.

Went tonight. Arrived at 6:50pm. This site lists closing hours as 8:00pm. There were three men in the store, the lights were on and the door was locked. The hand written signs on the door said they close at 7:00pm. I went for three items and could have been in and out in 5 minutes or less.

The store is now under new management. They have a variety of Mediterranean, middle eastern and Asian food. I shop there every week. I love the whole tilapia, macrel and salmon fish.

Is it normal for them to not be open when they should be? I prefer this location because its closer but seems like they are never open.

This store is currently in a transition period, but definitely open. There is reduced inventory that should be expanded in the future.
