I have been contemplating this review since the completion of the remodel last fall. I live in the neighborhood, and shop at Meijer no less than four times per week. I also do a monthly big shopping trip to pick up more than just meal specific items. I loved Meijer, but now I will be shopping elsewhere. The remodel, while pretty and more spread out, Meijer carries LESS items than they did before. They completely eliminated many of the ethnic sections they used to have, including German and British. The massive cooler of mushrooms is now a four-foot section. Went for my big monthly trip today and the following items are out ... sale sausage in all flavors, sale bacon, and every package of chicken tenderloin and chicken breast. Since the meat staples were all gone, I just stopped shopping and decided to get everything at the other store I have to go to. Very disappointed in Meijer. Will still stop for bread and milk, but will be switching to Kroger/Payless. Took a great store and made it generic. The stock man said Meijer wanted to standardize the plannogram for every store, so they made them all the same based on the "new" sales plan. The sales plan for Lafayette evidently came from a store visited exclusively by alcoholic, obese pizza eaters, as the three noticeably larger sections now are wine, snack food, and pizza (doubled in size). Meijer is like an obese mini-mart now.

Its a grocery store. I mean, what can I tell you? Its huge, a little pricier than Walmart but better food. Sign up for mperks (its free) and you can clip digital coupons and get rewards, money off your next purchase, and every once in a while free stuff. You need to download the app on your phone to use mperks. Before you go to the store you go to the coupons on the app and click on as many as you want. When you check out, you enter in your cell number and whatever 4 digit pin you picked on the screen where you swipe your debit card and anything you bought that you clipped a mperk for will automatically be taken off the bill. Like .50 off mayo or buy one get one free bread, etc... It saved me over $300 last year. If you want to go all out, bring paper coupons too and also download the ibotta app. I try not to pay full price for anything. :)

Very poorly managed. Its quite evident that this store is run with the very bare minimum number of staff members. Shelves are often picked over and never faced. There are never more than three checkouts open, even during busy hours. The deli is HORRENDOUS. Sure they have decent meats and cheeses, but its always so understaffed that a 15 minute wait is not uncommon. Come on, one older woman running the deli at noon on a Sunday? I have never, not one single time, been asked by an employee if I needed help with anything. It seems Meijer will do just about anything to reduce their overhead to the bare minimum to increase short term revenue at the expense of their customers and employees. They remodeled the store and it looks great, but that means nothing if management is going to run it into the ground.

Meijer is my go to store! Their produce is the best in the area, and the prices are always reasonable. Sign up for the Meijer m-perks, and log into the app to make sure you are collecting rewards for your shopping. M-perks also contains digital coupons. This store just went through, is finishing up, a big renovation project. It will be hard getting used to where they moved everything. Right now, initially, I dont feel the layout is intuitive; but I am sure I will get used to it. Meijer beats Wal-Mart, Target, and any other big box store. My ¢2.

I would give this store "0" star, but it wont let you. This store is totally pathetic. There is no one to help you in the seafood department, deli, then when I get to the checkout there are only 2 cashiers and 4 customers with full carts in both lanes. I never write reviews, but I felt its necessary to. This happens every time I shop there. Why dont they try paying their employees more or giving them an incentive to work? If you cant figure it out then you are just turning a blind eye. Its ridiculous!

I was only in with a friend while she shopped, but the staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful. I witnessed an incident of a woman of questionable legal age being deferred for an alcohol purchase because she didnt have a valid ID on her. Those handling the situation were professional and matter of fact and polite. The woman was belligerent. But this has been a state law since before I was born, and I just turned 53 earlier this month. Kudos to the staff for handling exactly how they did!

Terrible customer service. While advertising a price and placing many of the same item on said rack at $39.00, I was charged $90.00 for the item advertised. Even after showing them the item, the placement and the price, I was told that it was my own fault for not realizing the item was different than the item named on the rack tag. Mind you, the item was "Cat Vest" While I was getting a "Cat Coat." The manager that I showed the rack to belittled me and blamed me for their own mistake.

My new favorite grocery store. Produce has been great and the prices are great. Do watch out: the water they set the asparagus in is always a little smelly. Also, Ive tried using the mPerks online coupons, but havent had much luck with them yet. I keep an eye on the sales (you can elect to receive weekly sales ads) and stock up when my favorite items are discounted - I think Meijer does a good job at rotating through different items.

Huge selection of all the goods a superstore should have. Great selection of alternative brands and decent prices. However the new layout is awkward. The old setup had a better flow. I havent wanted to go here as much as I used to. Also I miss the discounted produce cart. Payless and Aldi are back on top as my main grocery stores.

Wide variety of products, lots of fresh produce that other stores dont have. IF YOU OWN A TESLA THERE ARE CHANGING STATIONS IN THE PARKING LOT. Meijer is classier than Wal-mart but a little higher priced. If you sign up for their customer loyalty program (M-perks) you get digital coupons and deals like $5 off $75 purchase.

I purchase my produce here along with my clothing, shoes, pet products and they have the largest variety of Health Conscious items just as an unnamed Organic Health store in Lafayette. They are open 24 hours as well. They also have products accustomed to different dietary and cultural preferences.

Really, really bad grocery merchandising. Produce was empty and completely picked through, the rest of grocery was at best poorly merchandise. I think I might go to Wal-Mart first. That said the rest of the store looked good, so for home goods and the like this is probably an okay bet.

Could not get anyone to answer the phone that could give me the fax number. After the 3rd call, I finally got the number. It would be so much better if ALL websites had the fax number listed with the phone number! Such a simple fix, but most stores dont do that.
