Let me start out by saying this is a FEED store, not a department store. Anyone who can grace the door of a RK or TSC will be right at home. I come here because they have the best prices on straw, game bird feed, and dog food within a reasonable driving distance, period. Buckles focuses on LOCAL suppliers and producers, who wouldnt prefer to buy local? I was introduced to them about 3 years ago, when I was trying to find a solid dog food for my husky. I was given free samples of EVO, which is grain-free. I was a little skeptical when I was told that I would be able to cut my portions in half with EVO. I guess I was feeding him the equivalent of junk food before, because I definitely noticed the difference. MUCH healthier and the feed lasts 2 or three times as long. Also, they have a fantastic gamebird feed for my quail, far better than other places that Ive shopped. They also had Wazine, a dewormer for livestock, in stock when nobody else did. Ive spoken with the owner (works mornings) who has been more than helpful and polite. Most of the staff has been knowledgeable and are offer to assist me load bales of straw and such. Thats great customer service in my book.

My mom and I went here to see if they had decently priced ferret food (they do not, its easier and way cheaper to order online) and we noticed they had ferrets in the back. They had 5 in a 2x6-ish tank in the back of the store (way too small for that many) and all of the ferrets were thin, nails long, and fur just gross looking. Their enclosure looked as though it hadnt been cleaned in ages, and it smelled god-awful there. The entire store smelled terrible, like something was dying. My ferrets need a bigger cage and a 4-tier cage was on display, so I was interested. However, it was bent all to hell and nasty looking. We couldnt get the cage open to look at it either. We asked a guy that was there if they had some new ones in the back instead of the grimy store model and he went to a back aisle, looked around, said no, and then said that the "floor model" was actually for sale ($200) and then had the nerve to ask if we wanted to purchase it, even though it was all bent up. Long story short: smelly store, emaciated ferrets, and nasty cages.

This is a store that really cares about your pets. They may not look like much on the outside but they carrie the quality foods that the big man pet stores dont carrie. I have also seen them try to re-home other peoples pets such as ferrets, sugar gliders, rabbits, and reptiles. They also provide a place to pay for a dog park pass, a place to bath your pup, and customer service is excellent. They even found me a quality cat food that my cat will eat. She would only eat 9 lives and turn her nose up at anything else. If I mixed it with 9 lives she would pick out the 9 lives kibble. I have even offered her tuna and she said no. They recommenced blue buffalos, gave me a sample baggy to make sure she liked it, and she eat like I had never fed her before in her life. I will always buy here first.

I went there to attempt to purchase a pass to the dog park. My first impression was that the store was extremely dirty. I couldnt tell who worked there. There was not any order to the place. Even though my dog has a rabies vaccination tag around his neck, I was told no. They wanted the original paperwork. Thanks Buckles. You just made it a huge pain in the butt to use the dog park. Hey Buckles! Its called CUSTOMER SERVICE. How about saying, "Hello" or "Welcome" or even make the slightest effort to assist me with my issue. I was about to look around and make some purchases for my growing 4 mo. old lab mix who goes through toys and food like water. Nope. Not after that experience.

I have been here twice now and am going to be coming back regularly! I have had excellent service both times. On my first visit the gentleman working there took a chunk of time to help me choose a better senior diet for my dog, answering all my questions, and the second time an associate helped me carry my items to the car. They dont have everything a bigger chain store does, but the food and treats they do stock are all quality brands and reasonably priced. I highly recommend them.

Dog food is fairly priced. Staff always offers to help carry bags out for you. Always clean, with the faint smell of cute little critters. Update: Buckles sells dog bones that have been slow cooked for 6 hours. My st Bernard loves them. Ive never seen him chew on a single bone until its completely gone until I got one from this store. I am changing this place from 4 stars to 5. The definitely know what your pets need.

This is customer-friendly store. The staff takes time to assist in selecting pet related items. When purchasing bird seed, the staff is johnny-on-the-spot, ready to carry out the bags. Our pip of a dog decided to relieve himself in the store. It was embarrasing for us, however, staff didnt bat an eye, and cleaned up the puddle. Great people, great store

Great with people most places now a days dont know much on what they doing the background on foods and shots and dietary plans they all knew what they was talking about and not looking to sell you the most exspensive things its all about you and your pet they treated me and my pittbull Nala great ! Our new place for my dogs

I cant find Eagle brand dog food anywhere else in town, because the chain stores dont sell it. Its the best food and its made in Indiana (South Bend). I also get all my bird seed and cat food here, too, and the staff have been very helpful in addressing my questions. I just wish they were open later on weekdays!

We love this store. I wish there were open later (close at 6pm). They have a good variety of toys and food for our rabbit. The guys seem to understand our pet and I appreciate the feedback and expertise. I only gave 4 stars because of their location and hours.

friendly staff, super helpful. They have dry storage for the straw which is the main reason I come here. Much better than buying wet stuff at the hardware store and having mold on you.
