UPDATE: My wedding was in October and I have to say that White Orchid is the best and I am so happy with our decision to use them. Joanne was so patient with us, even when we made last minute changes and called her store all the time. Each time I spoke with her, she always listened to me and was completely understanding. She also keeps excellent notes. Trying to think back to May when we first hashed out details was hard for me since I had so many wedding vendors and details to remember myself. We ended up changing things a few times due to budget issues and she was just the best about everything. She made sure she knew exactly what I wanted and when I came into the venue on my wedding day, the flowers were gorgeous! We did more of a wildflower look with deep purples and green. I had so many compliments on my bouquet and the centerpieces. I couldnt have been happier. We will definitely be using White Orchid for all our floral needs. From May 2013: Joanne has already impressed me. My family is from Illinois and my mother ended up coming to Bloomington to help with some final arrangements for our big day. Joanne was so kind and fit us in at the last minute, so she could speak with my mother (who is paying for our florist). I have to say that I know nothing about flowers and decorating has been the last thing on my mind. Its not something that I am good at and so I didnt want to deal with it. After looking at all of Joannes beautiful work, I decided on a bouquet of flowers. It was gorgeous and I thought it would be fine. Then my mother happened upon a wedding that had taken place earlier this year and they had used wild flowers. The arrangements were amazing and I knew instantly it was what I wanted. The wild flowers were completely different from what I had originally picked out and Joanne flat out asked me why I changed. I told her that I didnt really know what I was doing and that I was just picking things that looked pretty. Joanne got real honest with me real quick. She told me that this was my day and that I had to be certain that I picked out things that I truly wanted. I was impressed with Joannes honesty and her commitment to her work. I looked at my partner and we immediately agreed she was the lady for us. We put down our deposit right then and there. After that, my brother went across the street, picked up a bottle of wine, and we all split it as we hashed out the details (how many bridesmaid bouquets, centerpieces, etc). I appreciate wedding vendors who are brutally honest with you and I know that Joanne will tell me what is doable and what isnt while staying within our budget. Im so excited to see my flowers on my wedding day. I know shes going to do a great job.

A very unfortunate turn of events while working with Joanne. I live in Bloomington but was having a small wedding in another town a couple of hours away. Had tried working with florists in that town, but all were unfriendly with me or never returned my calls/texts. (Florists do not want to work with you if you dont have an extravagant budget!!!) I read a review about White Orchid and how Joanne was very helpful and educational with someone last minute. So based on that I decided to work with her. Met two weeks before the wedding and she assured me all would work out. Had a slight change a couple of days after meeting, but still wanted to purchase my bouquet and boutonnière so I confirmed that with Joanne. Two days before the wedding, I get a very patronizing voicemail, "just wanted to get on the same page since weve had so many changes to this order..." Pick up my bouquet and it looks an absolute mess. Looks like its just been thrown together. Flowers sticking up and out of the bouquet. Nothing cohesive about it. Charged me more than she thought she would. End of story, I left the shop very unhappy and simply disappointed. Think twice, you all.

Joanne was referred to me by my MOH (who was referred to her by her sister) and going with her services was one of the best decisions I made during my entire wedding planning process! My only regret is that I didnt contact her sooner! Joanne not only has the knowledge of flowers necessary for her job, BUT what I found that set her apart from everyone else, is that she has a background in fine arts and an eye for design (which I definitely am lacking)! She helped me figure out what flowers, colors, centerpieces, dresses, and decorations would help tie everything together and communicate the big picture that I had in mind for my wedding. If what you want is a wedding that is piecemeal-ed together through pinterest pictures, Joanne might not be the best fit for you. However, if you have an idea of the "big picture" that you want your wedding to convey, Joanne has the knowledge, skill, and eye for design to help you fill in the details. Joanne was great to work with, extremely reasonably priced, communicable, and her work was beautiful! I cant recommend her highly enough!

I used White Orchid for my very large summer wedding and have nothing but high praise for what they did. The one thing I knew I wanted was all fresh flowers and Joanne and her team worked very hard to make all my dreams come true. We used all family heirloom crystal pieces for the reception and they made each one look absolutely beautiful. They spilled with flowers that stayed vibrant and gorgeous all night long. The one hiccup we had and it didnt slow the White Orchid staff down at all, was that on the day of our beautiful outdoor wedding we woke up to 105 degree weather. Very unexpected for the first weekend in June. The staff spent all night and morning individually providing little water sources to the bouquets and outdoor flowers so they would not wilt. It was absolutely amazing that through our ceremony and all the pictures my bouquet was still perfect. They went above and beyond what any florist would have done and I cannot thank them enough.

All plans for a wedding should go this easy! Joanne and her staff do beautiful work! I walked in with barely a plan and within an hour of meeting this extremely knowledgeable woman she knew instinctively what I was in search for. I wanted simple and yet elegant. I didnt worry about flowers. The day of the wedding I went in to pick up the bouquet and was just blown away! Here was the most gorgeous bouquet of barely pink and cream roses. Then she showed me the bouquet’s for the tables and I almost started to cry, there in front of me were the prettiest flowers I have ever seen! My guests commented on those flowers the whole evening and fought over who was taking them home! I can never thank Joanne and her staff enough for making my quiet yet elegant wedding dreams come true.

I came to Bloomington to help my mom with some of my little sisters wedding plans. Who knew how many details go into wedding plans?! Linens have to compliment flowers? I was really out of my element when I tagged along to The White Orchid but Joanne was incredible friendly and helpful. She and my sister AND my mom totally vibed. Its like they were all soul sisters. Joanne really knows her flowers and had several photos of previous floral arrangements that can all be modified for your event. Not that you have to choose a pre-made floral arrangement. Joanne can customize arrangements for your event and I can almost guarantee they will be gorgeous. The wedding is in October and I will be sure to update with photos!
