Walked Through the Door, Fell in Love With the Lack of barnesNnoble Corporate Sterility. Here, you can smell the scent of books not a faux-trendy café. I browsed contentedly for hours until the completely unobtrusive staff gently reminded customers that the store had been closed for 10 minutes. At that point, disaster struck! Which books should I keep, while must I truly return the coveted rest of the stack to the shelves??! In my greedy hands I had the final installment of a favorite SF authors first series, several of my favorite authors works collected in 4 different SF anthologies and a plethora of paperbacks by new authors in the hard SF field Id heard of but couldnt afford to purchase Oh the torture! Luckily a kind employee of the store saw my distress and was obviously familiar with customers facing "outlet bookstore panic syndrome"(which never manifests inside corporate book stores or in consumers homes, even on large so called outlet sites, whose name, in the interest of my I NOT being sued- and so shall help you out with a clue, is both a jungle AND a river, but I digress) the kind words of the store employee penetrated my abject misery as I looked more closely at the sign to which she had been gesturing: ALL HARDBACK BOOKS $2! And the NEXT sign: ALL PAPERBACKS $.50! I owe my increasingly expanding library of the ECLECTIC ALLto HALF PRICE BOOKS OUTLET. I apologize in advance that my ex- landlord hates us both for the inadvertent destruction of the initial built bookshelves in my former apartment. For anyone who treasures books AS THEY SHOULD BE READ, on real paper, dont miss out!

I have loved Half Price Books since I first found them and I have always had a pleasant experience with the staff in the Bloomington store. But I have to say that I am extremely disappointed in the stores (or chains--depending on where this idea came from) decision to consolidate paperback mysteries into a general fiction section. Westerns? Still in their own section. Science Fiction? still in its own section. I read everything--but when Im in the mood for a mystery, I dont want to have to wade through romance novels to browse. Part of the great thing about brick and mortar book stores is the browsing experience--just walking in with no particular book or author in mind, scanning the shelves, and finding something interesting. On my last visit (my first since the consolidation took place). I stopped browsing at about "H" in fiction. I was tired of making my way past romance and regular fiction in a search for a new mystery that might catch my eye. I guess after it happened to the hardbacks, I should have expected it in the paperback section--but it doesnt make it any less irritating.

This store is winning me over from a 100% library lifestyle and turning me into an avid book buyer again. The prices cant be beat. Most books are available for just $1, and even on the "pricier" end, most are $3 or less. Ask about sales and other events. They run a summer reading club both my boys are having fun with, you can get a card stamped with the date for every visit to earn toward a discounted visit, and there are often sales that bring the prices even lower throughout the store. If youre a book lover, youll definitely be back.

First of all Tyler sorry for being late with this. My name is Mark C. Adkisson, Im the Author of Live Life Till It Hurts. I did a book signing there Jan 17 of this year. The entire crew of this book store treated me like I am family, and that helped me alot. Because this was my first book signing, I will always remember the moments there. I do hope in the near future we can do this again. Thank You to all of the Employees at Half Price Books, In Bloomington IN. I truly enjoyed these moments. Mark C. Adkisson.

Hard to find anything not to like about HPB, and the outlet is no exception. Great prices, various sales and discounts, and friendly workers as well. Frankly the only book seller that competes and beats online shopping for books. You always find something new and good there, and as mentioned its always good pricing. Dont forget they have records, magazines, music, games, and more than just books too.

I absolutely love this location! The staff is always very friendly and their prices cant be beat. I love when they have their 50% off sales. I was there yesterday and spent $36, which got me half-a-dozen childrens books, 22 CDS, 3 DVDs, and somewhere around a dozen books. What a bargain!

They have a great variety of books for most genres and you cannot beat their prices ($1-3)! Most books are in great to perfect condition. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, and the layout of the store, as well as the books themselves, are well organized.

Just got a chance to go here a couple months ago, their prices arent quite as cheap as the book outlet store in Bowling Green, they dont have 50 cent books, but they do have a slightly better selection of stuff at this location and its a bigger store.

I just dont see how anybody could ever say anything bad about this place. Even if you dont like books, they have lots of of other stuff at ridiculously low prices. CDs, DVDs, even records.

I absolutely love half price books! They dont carry brand new items, but their collection of 1980s through 2000s CDs is great and most are only 50¢ each. Staff are very friendly too.

Lots of books, videos, records, CDs, and games all at really low prices. Its best to go in not looking for anything specific then you will find lots of goodies.

I love the idea of a used book outlet, such good deals on books. It can be hard to find things but I think thats the nature of the beast.
