Not as nice as other Barnes and Nobles bookstores but slightly more intellectual (probably because of the presence of IU) offerings. Coffee quality (and size) varies with new employees and they have the usual food items. I think they were a much better bookstore when Borders was across the street. The staff is courteous and they do know their books. The tables in the cafe are VERY small (as in most BandNs) and the chairs are uncomfortable. Few plug ins that are usually taken up by the students who choose to do their work here. However, I think the students give the place a more interesting and appealing environment. Something is lost however. I dont buy as many books as I used to here and I dont know why that is. Part of it might be that the environment just isnt as interesting to me as it used to be. It definitely is a corporate bookstore with little attempt to make it part of the community. Not like the heydays of B&N and Borders in the last 90s and 2000s when every one came to these places to meet up, buy books, and see community music/readings.

I stopped going here because one of the baristas was very rude. My coffee just didnt taste right, I politely mentioned this and without apology she took my drink and dumped it. She seemed very upset and after making the coffee again didnt bother uttering a word even after I said thank you. I think she may have been in a bad mood. She was shorter slightly on the heavy side with black hair and works Fridays after 6pm so beware. On top of that she starts charging more than 50 cents for refills that I wanted steamed. For the past 3 years Ive been coming here and now I avoid it all all cost because star bucks charges just 50 cents for refills no matter if you have steamed milk or not. In any case management needs to look into improving customer service with the specific woman.

One shelf of Philosophy books (approx. 60 books, maybe only 10 different authors, though. Traditional watery garbage); BUT! Three entire shelving units (each with about 4-5 shelves containing 60-80 books each shelf) of Bibles.... talk about variety. This chain store is a complete failure. Granted, its in Indiana. I get the whole Bible thing, but I was astonished because this store is in a University town. Bloomington has an entirely different demographic than the rest of Indiana, and quite frankly it is not represented on the shelves at this store. If youre in Bloomington and looking for something a bit more stimulating for your thought trains, continue past B&N, head to Boxcar Books.

Not the nicest of Barnes & Noble stores, this place needs some updating. Very poor selection of books, unless its new or popular odds are they wont have it, even the classics are seldom found here. The staff are often times apathetic to your needs and requests, theres only like one super helpful and friendly member. With the decline of printed media I dont think its in the companies not the stores best interest to have employees that are so blatantly apathetic, pissy and rude to the customers when they make suggestions, requests or have just a general inquiry. That level of customer service will get you no where...

I only go for the magazine racks... Overall the layout is awkward, and it would be nice if they utilized the empty spaces a bit more for being able to work. Although, given how wide open the floor structure is it gets loud quite easily. This is the last large chain bookstore in Bloomington after Borders closed, so I suppose they really dont have to put much effort towards being more than what it has been like for years now.

I like Barnes and Noble and go there several times a month. The cafe (which is called Starbucks, but is not a real Starbucks!) is nice, and enjoyable to relax in, and the drinks and food are good. The CDs and DVDs are not that reasonably priced. Book selection and prices are ok.

Some employees in the Music/Movies section are pushy, particularly an older gentleman who is aghast at the idea of browsing. Their promotion of the Nook is a little obnoxious, but what can you do about that? Gotta peddle junk nowadays to turn a buck in the book bidness.

I used to love sitting in there in comfy chairs & yes, I almost always purchased books or magazines or drinks. But now almost no comfy chairs so I dont really like going there so much. Might as well be comfortable at home & check out books on Amazon

Love this store. The staff are all great helps and willing to suggest a good book if asked. Do not listen to the bad reviews about them, those are probably just bitter bastards who were mad that the store didnt have an obscure indie published book.

On more than one biz trip through this amazing town, I stop and enjoy looking and usually partaking way too much, in their book sales, then enjoy a pleasant cup of Starbucks while I marvel (no pun intended) over my purchases!

Overall, I enjoy visiting this Barnes & Noble location. Knowledgeable staff. Generally they are pretty crowded with college students, so seating is pretty limited at times. They have a Starbucks location inside.

Sometimes its nice to be able to look at and feel some paperback books. This location also has a music area and some collectibles and board games. Also a nice and quiet place to do some studying.

Staff helped me find what I was looking for and made my experience quick and enjoyable! Plus, I got a coupon for $1 off a drink at their in-store Starbucks with receipt.

I love the atmosphere of Barnes and Noble. Its clean and theres a lot of cool pop culture merchandise there, as well as many, many great books.

Nice atmosphere, but there are very rarely any helpful people around. The cashiers arent really very pleasant most of the time, either.

Some fun books here... Pretty over priced though.... And you know, worse for the environment and less portable than digital books

Good costumer service. They have a help desk to help you find material and accept calls in questions. The selection is alright.

Nice place. Unfortunately, I only go to their cafe and read magazines there. Pastry items in the cafe are Very Good!

Helpful staff, not the selection of higher education materials you would expect in the town of a major University

Great place, but I wish the Starbucks used their own payment system instead of Barnes and Nobles.

Quiet and clean bookstore. Dont stay too late or people working there get snippy at ya.
