I have had a pretty terrible experience with Gold Casters so far. I put a pair of diamond stud earrings on layaway with them and at the time of purchase nothing was mentioned about their refund policy on layaway deposits. Evidently, it is only offered on layaway deposits if the refund is requested within 7 days. When my financial situation changed suddenly and I asked about getting my deposited money back on this pair of earrings (which would surely sell as soon as they put them out again as they are simple diamond studs), I was then told of their 7-day policy which they firmly stated was on the receipt. Sure, enough, it is there on the receipt in very fine print, but I feel like it is a bit shady that they dont mention this at all, especially for large purchases where quite a bit of money is deposited for layaway (25% of the total price). On top of this, I didnt receive a final accurate receipt from them until a week later because the salesperson at the time of my layaway purchase screwed up the receipt. Another issue Ive had with them is their disdain for man-made diamonds. After finding out I could not get my deposit back, I thought I might try to get more bang for my buck and get man-made diamonds (which I would have requested from the get-go had I known more about them at the time of my layaway deposit). When I asked about man-made diamonds, I was told that they were of lesser quality, had a greenish tint, and typically contain more flaws than mined diamonds. I work with chemists who have researched man-made diamonds in-depth and know that these claims are not true. I was also told that if I didnt want mined-diamonds, perhaps I should consider cubic zirconia, as if man-made diamonds are equivalent to cubic zirconia (which they are NOT). I did not appreciate being spoken to like a child, lied to about man-made diamonds, and having the salesperson continue to try to upsell me on mined diamonds, even after I firmly stated I wanted man-made. It has just been a terrible experience. I got the feeling that unless Im spending $1000+ at their store, they feel they can treat you like an idiot. Id really just like my money back at this point, but I guess Im stuck...

They say "diamonds are a girls best friend". Well, for any guy engagement ring shopping, diamonds can be a nightmare! Aside from the "four cs" there are multiple grades for each that have to be considered, not to mention that youre trying to encapsulate everything a person means to you inside of a small stone. As daunting of a task that this can be, Zach Langham and all the staff of Gold Casters made my experience indescribable. My experience has been nothing but top-notch. Its the type of service you expect from a family owned business, but rarely see these days. Zach listened to me and understood everything I was looking for. He not only gave me an education on diamonds but showed me the best options that fit my budget. Hes a fantastic sales man and knows how to give an incredible experience! In addition to outstanding service, Gold Casters pricing is also extremely competitive compared to other jewelers in town. Believe me, Im always shopping prices to make sure Im getting a great deal. I visited a total of 2 family owned jewelers, and 5 national chains. At the end of the day, Gold Casters prices were better for better quality. What set Gold Casters apart was their attention to detail, and their commitment to earning my business, not expecting it. I never felt pressured. Its because of everything above that I decided to purchase my fiancees engagement ring from them, and then came back to get the band for the ring. Thank you Gold Casters and Zach Langham for your incredible service and experience that Ill never forget.

I brought a valuable estate piece to be appraised here, and they completely took the lazy way in doing it. First off, they didnt test the metals (platinum and palladium) and simply trusted the single stamp on one of the rings of the set. Secondly, they misquoted the number of diamonds in the band, as there are 19--not 13 (I know because I designed it). I also feign to state that they did not grade the diamonds correctly, because the center diamond was independently set into a preexisting mounting (and not matched to the diamonds)...yet the appraisal states that all of the diamonds in the piece are the same grade and color. Unfortunately for me, this set is part of a legal proceeding, and the appraisal needs to be correct accordingly. I am severely disappointed and will not do business with GC again. Their loss, too, because I commonly buy and sell valuable estate pieces. The staff talked down to me, due to my young age, and erroneously assumed that I had no knowledge of expensive jewelry. "You do know that we charge for an appraisal, right?" Of course, I know that. I just sold a $6k Art Deco piece, but go ahead and dismiss me because Im 25. Oh, did I mention they took down my phone number wrong, and offered no apology when I called a week later to see what the hold-up was? Dont waste your time and dollars with this facade--stick with Williams, despite the lack of glitz.

The store is beautiful -- but the prices and sales people are ridiculous I went in a few weeks ago to shop for an engagement ring. I told the sales person my budget - $3500-$4000 for a 1 carat oval/pear diamond solitaire. I have been to many other places in Indy and around Bloomington, and this budget is perfect for what want. The sales person took me directly to a "Clarity Enhanced Diamond" and said that it was a great diamond, that it was touched up and cleaned up to be one of the worlds best diamonds (Yehuda). The stone was $4000 on the mark for a 1 carat rock. When I asked who certified the stone, he said that Yehuda certifies their own stones. Not GIA/GIS Sounded fishy I walked outside, got on my iPhone and researched this Yehuda diamond Basically, they take the most horrible stones they can find, fracture them with a laser, and inject glass into the stone to make it look better. Ridiculous. Why pay $4000 for a FAKE diamond when you could pay $3500 for a REAL 1 carat diamond somewhere else? Shop around, research, inform yourself prior to, and after leaving this place. They will tell you anything and everything just to make a sale. Not to mention they would not let me take home the financing brochure to read the fine print at home, I was told "This stays here"

Gold Casters definitely offers unique products and jewelry, although I find them to be a bit overpriced. My fiancé purchased my engagement ring from them, and I have been less than satisfied with the overall experience. They are not good about calling customers when their jewelry is finished being services. Both times, once for resizing and once for maintenance, I have had to call the store 30 minutes before closing to find out if my ring was ready, even though Id been told it would be done within hours and they would call me. I was VERY unhappy with the reason for my maintence visit: after wearing my ring for less than 6 weeks it lost a diamond in the halo setting-not acceptable for a ring that cost several thousand dollars. I had even had them check it the week before when we were in looking at wedding bands. Although they did fix it for free, I also felt that the sales staff was almost dismissive of me once they learned I wasnt going to drop serious money and was only getting an already purchased ring worked on. Overall, I would go to Settles or another home town jewel-Gold Casters may have the prestige but their customer service cant back it up.
