I have to (reluctantly) agree mostly with what the previous two posters said about the over-pricing and the over-processing, etc. And yes - I and my wife still like Sams Club for some stuff. Sams USED to have a 56-once can I believe it was for about 10 bucks. Cant find anything like that now - nut prices way out of line and I like them.. reasonably healthy also - Anyone know how to BUY NUTS online for at least a 20-30% better price? GFS on Rand Road is mostly a joke on price.. cant understand that.. B-U-T gotta be FAIR - COSTCO takes back stuff that breaks and can give you a replacement OR your money back. Extremely important becasue even some of this so-called industrial-quality kitchen stuff that they DEMO will BREAK within a year or so! Totally can not understand that breakage as that represents a hi-profile failure with (hopefully) knowledgeable customers. Stupid companies to promote something as extra-good quality and then have it break.

I want readers to know that organizations hire people to post negative and nasty comments to discourage shoppers. Costco was originally established for union members and I have belonged for many years. Costco carries a large variety of USDA organic products that are of high quality. Their buyers also include many FairTrade products assuring that growers are paid a living wage. Costco treats their employees well and so employees treat their customers well. I do not find tasteless or over processed food. Quite the opposite. I do a great deal of my shopping at Costco and will continue to do so not only for the products but for the caring employees. By the way Im not kidding when I say that people are hired to go on websites and denigrate companies and organizations in order to sway consumers as well as voters.

When costco opened I loved it. Nice to buy in bulk, pretty good quality products. Although over time your impression changes. They carry brands that youll come to enjoy then for no reason they stop carrying them. They have a worthless suggestion box. We have to go to Sams Club, Aldi or CVS to get what the kids want as Costco no longer carries it! You constantly get bombarded to upgrade your membership to the $99 membership. Yeah, let me see if I understand this, you want me to pay for my own frequent buyers card. Most companies reward you for visiting them. Airlines give away miles, retailers give you discounts. Not costco you have to pay $50 more and spent $5000+ per year to break even on your membership. Its crazy! Stop bugging us & reward us instead! We need a Sams Club in Lake Zurich!

I recently became a cripple. I came to the front door of Costco and was greeted by Eva. She asked if I wanted an electric shopping cart. Replying yes she went an got the cart, walled me to the far corner of the store, loaded two boxes of fireplace logs (54lbs @) in my cart, walked me to the registers, got me through the regester, out the door and loaded the two boxes into my car. Today I called the store and talked to the manager about giving Eva a dozen roses. Reply, "thats not uncommon, thats what we are taught to do at Costco" Sorry but we can not accept gifts was the answer. Between me and the gate post Eva is going to one way or the other going to get those roses!!!! Thanks Eva They aint paying to enough. Phil

Costco does have a very good return policy. However, I dont want to return things. I want to buy them and use them. I have had quality issues three times with the freshness of the food. Onions - rotted in one week. Potatoes - found a rotted one in the bag as I was putting it in the car. Took it back into the store and got a different bag. Two days later there were more rotten potatoes in the bag. Threw out the rotten potatoes. Just recently I bought a large bag of carrots. Carrots usually last forever. These did not rot, but where so old I threw them out. Yes, I could have taken all of these items back and got my money back. Id rather just not shop there anymore.

My favorite place to shop! I go here weekly and cant say enough good things about the experiences I have. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Returns, while you may stand in line for a bit, are smooth and without issues. Their selection is great, except Mondays, weekends are always packed and they run low on goods until Tuesday. Their prepared food is great and reasonably priced. My only negative is you have to thoroughly check fruit before purchasing to make sure there is no mold! The produce is usually good quality but sometimes doesnt get switched out fast enough. I highly recommend shopping here, assuming you need bulk or are a knowledgeable shopper.

Expensive-do your math-its difficult to compare items to like items because of quantities being different. Some things are reasonable-but not too many things. Processed food galore-not a good thing. Holistic foods-no! Cool stuff no one else has-yes! Plants and bulbs-very expensive and insane. We live in zone 5 (cold) and they sell zone 6-7 stuff here are perennials - no nursery around here would do that. Any zone 6 plant would die over winter. People who are not gardeners dont know this and wonder why in Spring that $$$$$ expensive plant from Costco died. Because they product placed in the wrong zone.

Drove 25 minutes to get my ink cartridge refilled, not knowing that I needed a membership for that. Googled online where to get my ink cartridge refilled, the website for Costco came up and when I called to inquire how much it would cost all I was told was the price. Went back to my car with two toddlers in the rain and called to speak to a manager. All he could say was sorry, we offer memberships. He couldnt have just let me walk in and maybe pay a little bit more to have it refilled because his employees dont make you aware you need a membership? Rediculous, not good customer service at all.

The Kirkland brand water here is top notch. Not all Costcos source their water from the same providers, but whoever is doing the water for this one is par excellence. No reason whatsoever to pick up the pricier waters here. And chilled singles can be had at the lunch counter for something like a quarter! Anyway, its a great store if youre into buying in bulk and have plenty of room to keep it at home. Oh, and they have the best pizza in the area, to the everlasting shame of every other dedicated pizzeria that specializes in that terrible cracker crust nonsense.

Terrible customer service. The useless checkers at the entrance and exit are among the most surly in the industry, especially a guy named Lou. Imagine this guy telling your 4 year old child he wouldnt draw him a smiley face on the receipt, for some reason. Called management to report the issue, they didnt care. I guess the stress of checking receipts and punching that clicker can really build up over time. Ill think twice before renewing my membership at this business that puts its employees above its paying customers.
