In a 3rd of what was the Giesche Shoe Store building in my youth in Downers Grove. It started as a wine//olive store with tastings and is now a nice. small wine shop and wine bar. They have decent light food, a cooler full of exotic beers to go, and excellent wine selection to sample or buy, and live music 2 nights a week. Half price wine night on Wednesdays is a draw. Easy parking and a nice back room for parties. Wine bar seating is at barrel tables. Though the wait-staff varies - they try to know "their regulars". The staff is knowledgeable and work hard to please. Of the several downtown Downers Grove restaurants - this is the smallest and coziest!

I went when there was a Groupon being offered. The food was very very good and the service was very prompt. The prices are a little high, $9-11 for a panini basically. However, it does seem more gourmet and has special cheeses and meats so the food is priced higher as one should expect. Add in the fact that the Groupon basically got it half off I was able to eat a $30 meal for $15. As a side note, I would recommend not sitting at the tables made with the barrel as its base. I did not pay attention to the style of the table and spent my dinner turned sideways since my legs had no where to go. However, a majority of the tables are regular tables.

After a terrible experience last night, I dont want to go back. (I had been their multiple times.) I suggest not buying their Groupons since this business shouldnt even offer it--they do not know how to redeem or handle them. The manager was rude. Their staff is always horrible, no matter what day of the week. Luckily this business has good food, thats their only redeeming factor. I wish they had a better grasp of customer service. Wont be back there again, even though my boyfriend lives down the block.

A straight up fun place. Excellent beer selection, especially for a wine bar. Ryan the manager is pretty great, and the wine of the month club is an excellent method to ensure you pop over at least once a month to enjoy some tasty beer on tap before heading home with two well curated bottles of wine.

Great wine selection but also if you are not in the mood for wine they have a great selection of rotating craft handles. Do yourself a favor and get a meat and cheese board or better yet the bacon wrapped dates. Trivia on Wednesday nights is always a good time!!

We really enjoyed the appetizers and wine for a nice night out away from the kids. The server was very soft spoken and no one greeted us when we walked in or told us to take a seat. We had to figure out for ourselves. That would have made it 5 stars.

Great place for a girls night out! They have a lot of tasty wines to drink in the restaurant. The food is great, they serve grass fed beef! Havent tried the cheeses or meat but I will next time. Try this out on a hot sure night with the girls.

I visit the Cellar Door almost weekly, and I have never been disappointed in the selection of food or beverages available, with hundreds of beer and wine available for purchase, and 12 draft beers and multiple bottles of wine by the glass.

Good food and interesting beer selection. Nice outdoor seating area. Service is pretty slow for as few seats as there are. Prices are fairly steep for everything. Theres a small carry out selection that rotates often, and seasonally.

Absolutely love the food and most of all the ambiance here. Not quite the wine selection I wanted but then again Im really picky. Staff is awesome and Id recommend them as a neighborhood hang out.
