I have been a customer for a long time. I typically visit the store multiple times a week as it is so close to my home. Over the time that I started coming to the store I have notices more and more things that are very unsettling. For one, the management at this store is useless.. I constantly see them playing on their cell phones while the other employees rush around the store frantically try to get their duties completed. I started questioning some of the employees and was told by two of them that they only allow females management positions, also they will leave an entire Departments worth of work loads to ONE person. Not to mention I have found bugs in food that comes out almost all of of their gravity bins. I asked an employee about this and was told that managers tell them to ignore it and put the food out anyways. I was also told that males have a hard time moving up in the company and are treated terribly compared to the women. I was told a female can get away with pretty much anything and if a male so much as asks a question the manager will cut their hours. I also witnessed an employee cutting open peaches one day to check if they were still good and watching him one. By one cut open countless rotten peaches. I asked him how long theyve been out and he said a lonnnnnng time, weeks!! Yuck! This place seriously needs to reevaluate who they have running this store. **addition to the review** the last and final time i was in the store i again saw an employee cutting open rotten fruits. as i started to scan the fruit i noticed that almost all of them were rotten and bug infested..

This is the first Fresh Thyme store Ive been to, and I am impressed with the product and produce selection of the store. I have always hoped for a Whole foods or Marianos store around Cary, Crystal Lake area, Fresh Thyme is better than Whole foods and Marianos by a huge margin. Before reading the rest of the review, you got to try the fresh squeezed orange juice. 64oz for less than five bucks is a good deal and it will be the most delicious orange juice you ever had. I know this for a fact, because the only other grocer have on site fresh squeezed OJ is Marianos in Chicago, and I have been buying 3 bottle from them taking back to Cary once a week. Fresh Thymes OJ is even more tasty (sweeter, fresher tasting, presumably from ripe oranges). Fresh Thyme carries farmers market produce, and at farmers market low prices, something Whole foods cant compete with. The prices of produce is lower than Jewel Osco, and looks better quality. I noticed unique feature to Fresh Thyme is that they sells bulk liquids such as Honey, olive oil Apple Cider Vinegar by weight, so you can buy any amount you see fit. Theme of the store reminds me of whole foods, and a lot of the health products (shampoo, soap etc) are exactly the same as well, may be not the exact same brand but they do look pretty much the same, price is similar (but a bit lower in my opinion). For example, bulk soap I got was 2.5/bar instead of 3.99/bar at whole foods. I am very excited for the OJ, cant wait to try out other items.

My wife and I lived in Lafayette (Indiana) for many years. There is Fresh Thyme Farmers Market on Creasy Ln, and the quality of customer service is simply amazing. They greet you when you enter the door, they associates behind the Deli counter fight over themselves to serve you... it is just great atmosphere. When we move to this part of Illinois we were bummed to know the closest Fresh Thyme was in Mt. Prospect. (1 hr away) but as soon as we hear they were opening a Fresh Thyme in Crystal Lake we got excited. The quality of the product is 10/10 The customer service is.... well, we were not impressed. We wanted to bring pizza home but we waited a few minutes until someone finally took our order.... when we were the only customers in line. Anyway, my wife and I will be still making our purchases here, hopefully it gets better with time.

This place was a gem to find. I just moved to Crystal Lake. I had planned on stopping at my usual Jewel or Walmart. I really wanted to try local and healthy this time. I was not disappointed. Customers talked to each other and had smiles on their faces. The bakery was organized and had samples. Try the chocolate cookies! Yum! Kris went above and beyond her job at the deli. From amazing customer service to helpful savings and product information- she was truly one of a kind. The rest of my shopping was smooth. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Sushi had a great variety. Produce and meats are fresh and organized. Im enjoying a prepared sandwich ( pesto grilled chicken) right now. Im blown away by the amount of chicken! Sooo good. Check this place out. Dont stop at Jewel. Come here!

For being a small farmers market themed store youd expect the prices to be higher, but in reality they are reasonable and sometimes cheaper than walmart or jewel. Theyre produce is very good, high qaulity, fresh, and they have a large selection of organic produce. Theyre salad bar is really good, especially theyre rotisserie chicken sald. They carry a large selection of gluten free and vegan friendly products. Overall this is a great store. Since theyve opened Ive gone to walmart once in the last year, and jewel about a dozen times. The staff at Fresh Thyme are incredibly friendly and helpful. I recommend Fresh Thyme to everyone.

Have only been there once, but the staff was really nice and overall I think its a great place. A good amount of gluten-free choices and lots of things like cans of soup etc have GF tags which is great to know. All the produce I saw looked good, but not a great organic fruit selection. Fair prices, not the lowest but have seen higher for produce etc, shelf stuff is pricier but comparable to TJs/WF. This is great to see in McHenry county and I will definitely be back!

A great alternative to other grocery stores and the high price specialty grocers. Produce is always fresh and prices are reasonable. Deli has a great selection of premium meats at great prices. They carry a wide selection of vegan, gluten free and Other healthy foods. Beer and wine selection is good. They carry a wide variety of supplements and probiotics.

Absolutely love this place. My brother loves this place as well but lives in New Baltimore, Michigan and the closest store is 50 miles away. Hopefully, one will soon built nearby. Love that you carry such a large awesome variety of foods, etc. for people who follow the Paleo diet. Thanks for the Crystal Lake location in my home town

Good choice of organic produce, grass fed beef and nuts, rice, oats and flour in bulk. Can spend a lot of money here, but everything is good quality. They fresh squeeze juices. The personal product aisle carries several sulfate free shampoos and conditioners, as well as probiotics and herbal remedies.

Great concept here in the midwest. Reminds me of Sprouts Farmers Market out west. Mostly natural and organic foods (but not all), and a great selection. Excellent vitamin selection too. A full grocery store with many deli and bakery items. Great organic produce selection.
