One of my favorite Cheap Eats in Chicago is the Middle East Bakerys Spinach and Feta Pie. Its only $1.99, satisfying enough for a lunch, and so delicious that I remembered it from years ago, only to reunite with it yesterday. It did not disappoint. You can bring it home and heat it up, but its even delicious just cold right out of the bakery. I also had a lamb and potato pie that was equally delicious. I could eat here for lunch every day- and I would if it wasnt so many carbs...

This is my shopping list: - Vegetarian Mini Pizzas - Pies/Empanadas (I usually get the lamb, and feta with olives and parsley) - Meat Kibbeh (a torpedo shaped croquette) - Israeli Cous Cous The bill usually comes to about $10. The best part - I have lunch/dinner for the entire week! For $10. Holy crap. And I must say, the best service. Everyone is amicable and will help you answer any questions and even sample a few items (the best part of becoming a regular).

Forget all the other Middle Eastern restaurants in Anderson ville and come try the newly opened restaurant here. Attached to the store they have the best home made soups and salads any vegetarian or meat lover could want. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service is fast and great. I would recommend this food to any guest visiting the neighborhood. After you eat you can stock up on fresh pita bread, spices, pies or other specialty item. 5 star, thumbs up.

This low rating comes strictly because of the baklava. The rest of this place is pretty cool! Love the spice selection. Baklava on the other hand is horrible. I picked up the variety box to try a few different kinds. - its not fresh.... They get weekly shipments because its not made in store, so its not fresh. - dry (see above) - bland - simply lacked flavor If you want good baklava... this is not your place We like it for other things though

When I lived in Chicago, I was in this store almost every week. The fresh pita bread, incredible selection of spices; its like heaven for foodies. You really have to stop in here if you are even close to the neighborhood. Check out the deli cooler for some salads and cheeses, grab some pita, and head to the lake for a picnic. It doesnt get any better.

I truly love this place. An amazing selection of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean spices and foods, all at ridiculously great prices. The pies are a must, as are the bags of fresh pita and hummus. I wish I lived closer so I could stop in more often! Definitely check out the sweets.

AMAZING !!!! My order was Original Hummus, Spicy Hummus, Roasted Red Pepper Dip, White Pita and Assorted Baklavas. Everything was fresh and tasted great. certainly the best Hummus I have had in the last 2-3 years. I am definitely coming back for their Falafal.

We love this cafe and bakery. Every time we go I buy too many of their baked goods, dips, and harder to find middle Eastern ingredients. The cafe has great fresh food. Just had the falafel and chicken schwarma sandwich which is amazing.

Delicious meat pies for less than $3. I go here occasionally to satisfy my cravings and to also stock up on my dried fruits. Friendly people working there and many hard to find items in stock.
