Went this past weekend and was very impressed by the store. All books looked to be rated 4+ stars, and the cards with the book descriptions also included how many Amazon reviews there were, as well as a barcode you could scan to get more information. I had already downloaded the Amazon app onto my phone, which allows you to take a photo of the books to see pricing options (I was looking at Prime pricing v. Kindle pricing). They also have a fair number of scanners around the store that will show Prime v. normal pricing. I liked that its encouraged to price things out - I would take a photo of the books in front of employees and there was no negative connotation with checking the pricing. Im guessing this has to do with the fact that Amazon would get the money no matter if I buy a book from Amazon Books or for Kindle, but it was still nice to not have to take a photo on the sly and check things later. However, if youre looking for a bookstore with hundreds of titles, this probably isnt the place for you. Im a pretty avid reader and can say that there were quite a few books on the shelves that I had already read. However, the data mining that Amazon is able to do lends itself to categories other than the simple fiction and nonfiction. The store featured sections such as "Favorites in Chicago," "Quick Reads" (books that took under 3 days for Kindle readers to finish), and recommendations ("like book X? heres 4 other titles you may like") that I know they had data to back up. A significant part of the store is for electronics, and they have Kindles scattered throughout the shelves that is nice product placement without being over the top. The check-out routine is very interesting - you can scan a QR code at the register and simply pay using the credit card associated with your Amazon account. It will automatically factor in whether you have Amazon Prime or not. Overall, Id highly recommend Amazon Books if youre looking for a new-age bookstore, or if youre into reading the latest hot books. Definitely cant complain that it got some of my not-so-avid-reader friends to walk out with a few books that theyre loving!

First trip to this store: I tried to buy, on Friday, a biography of Eisenhower that was the primary review in the NY Times Sunday Book Review the previous Sunday. They had no idea of this book and didnt stock it...in fact, after scratching around in their computer, they told me it had not yet been published. When I left the store I checked my phone and saw I could order it from Amazon for next day delivery. Second trip to the store: Walking down Southport with my dog I noticed the display for Alexa and Dot in the window and since I have Alexa I thought I would just stop in and quickly pick up a Dot for my bedroom. Now I am not going to be wandering the aisles browsing, I just need to do a quick transaction. They refused to sell me the Dot until I would take my dog outside. Up and down Southport I have stopped into stores with my dog...no problems. Amazon is not a restaurant or grocery just a very unfriendly place staffed by low-end, retail drones.

This store does not have a lot of books to pick from, I think they have to be a 4.5 or higher on Amazon to even be considered for the store. With that said, I saw a lot of very interesting books that I normally wouldnt see at other book stores and I think this is a great place to browse for books that were already vetted by people that shipped on Amazon. The checkout experience was pretty neat as well, you can scan a QR code while in line and then when you get to the cash register they will scan your phone and you can pay with the payment method already setup with Amazon, this is also how you get Prime pricing. Probably a quarter to a third of the store is taken up by Amazon electronics which can be nice you want to play with the new Kindles or tablets, but may seem a little excessive to some. Overall go here and check it out. There are bookstores with a wider selection but I enjoyed the selection and could have read most of the books there.

This physical manifestation of Amazon is all about offering books that are highly rated - everything in the store has a rating of 4 or above. Theres a few other factors that go into choosing what books are sold here, which, when combined with the knowledgeable staff, give you very good odds of purchasing something youll enjoy. This store also features items that arent books - Amazon products like Echo, Fire, Kindle, and some Amazon Basics products. Theres also a coffee shop, magazines, and a decent sized childrens section in the back. You wont find prices marked either - everything is priced on Amazon itself - scan the barcodes or the book itself to see pricing using the Amazon app. Prime members really save a lot!

An interesting concept, where theyre stocking the books that most people in the area order to give people a chance to see what it is before they buy it. Theyll match Amazon prices and give you a hands on experience with the tech too if youre thinking of picking out a Kindle or KindleFire. The store itself is gorgeous and the staff is shockingly nice and helpful. I left the store thinking that it wouldve been the ideal place to work when I was in college. Super pet friendly too and child friendly. Great kids book selection. If youre looking for anything in terms of graphic novels, know that they do not carry any though. Not a strike against it, but just a fact if youre into that kind of thing.

At a time when many bookstores have closed or are struggling, Amazon reignites my passion for paroosing great works. I love this unique concept. The small selection of books are all front facing with review cards. Its easy to find many new reads. There is a great childrens section. It was packed with kids looking at books or playing with kindles. The small cafe offers delicious and reasonably priced Stumptown coffee, Rishi tea and friendly service. Id be happy to spend all day here.

Really cool space and experience. If youre just the casual reader in need of a good book thats trending right now, youll be able to find a highly curated collection of books backed by data. Its a beautiful space and they also have a coffee bar selling stumptown roasters and a neat selection of teas from rishi. You will also find some gadgets, stationaries, gifts and more along with their fire, echo and Kindle brands

The store is cool but for all that Amazon has to offer on the technical side it gets a huge fail when it comes to common sense. First of all... You cant pay with cash! When has cash become a bad thing? Second you cant pay with Samsung Pay, Apple Pay or Android Pay. Seriously Amazon? Im sorry but I find the cash thing unacceptable and the tech thing plan weak. Cant do the Amazon store.

I loved this place!! Especially the stump town coffee roasters inside the store.. The book store is good with some best sellers.. but they need to stock up with more science and technology books.. Staff in the store as well as the coffeeshop are really friendly. You can come here to study.. grad a cup of coffee or tea and spend some time. Peaceful place. 5* for coffeeshop though.
