The kind of weird hybrid youd expect at the edge of an upscale arts district. Mixture of students, young professionals, and upscale vacationeers and retirees. Coffee, wine, and beer all available. Some nice cabinetwork behind the espresso bar. Simulated (?) tin ceilingwork covering the wall and ducts, with another duct covered with old photos. One big wood table with lots of people working at it, another picnic table, and three cafe tables. Free wifi and enough outlets for the table space. Good alternative rock on the sound system, a bit too loud. No loose leaf tea, but a few good quality bagged teas. The chai is the Evil From Oregon. The lady in front of me in line bought $45 of bottles of fresh pressed fruit and vegetable juices because she cant get her kid to eat his veggies. Welcome to West Palm Beach.

We wanted to find a place with GREAT COFFEE AND A GREAT ENVIRONMENT TO STUDY-- Subculture killed it. We tested Subculture with a MOCHA CAPPUCCINO (almost spilling out of the mug yet the amount of milk and foam was not overwhelming) as well as a MOCHA MACCHIATO (nice, roasted flavor with bitter chocolate). During our Saturday afternoon visit, every seat in the perimeter was taken over by someone doing work- EACH SEAT THERE HAS ELECTRIC SOCKETS! I almost wish they could cram more seating inside to accommodate more patrons. The ordering counter was decorated to appear a bit old-timey and there’s a large roasting machine at the entrance. Together, the decor somehow managed give a GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION THAT THESE GUYS WERE ALL ABOUT DOING COFFEE WELL… and they did.

As someone who roasts their own coffee, its easy to appreciate when a business takes the time to do the same. Subculture Coffee not only features a huge roasting machine in the front of their store (you can watch them make the coffee right there!), but has the best coffee in West Palm Beach to show for it. Love their coffee so much, I have been buying their beans to make at home since I realized that they sell them right from the shop. Try one of their lattes for a real treat, but anything on the menu will be tasty. Their homemade pastries are also top notch - I highly recommend their coconut cookies and pretty much any muffin theyre serving up.

Very good coffee, good service, and nice atmosphere. For budget reasons, I dont usually go to coffee shops. I brew my own instead. However, every once in awhile I treat myself to something better. I was downtown, passing by, caffeine deprived, and went in on a whim. The atmosphere was nice, it was fairly busy inside, and people seemed to enjoy being there. The server was pleasant, and the brew I had (regular house coffee) was rich and smooth -- much, much better than the harsh, acidic swill served at Starbucks. They said they roast it themselves, and you could tell, because it tasted great. I would come here again.

I rarely go to places like this, but I figured, what the heck? Ill try it out! I asked the guy behind the counter make me whatever he thought was the best hot coffee he had, Ill pay whatever for it. I still have no idea what he made, but whatever it was, it was fantastic. It took him about two minutes to make it, and there was a ton of creme in it, but it was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend this place for anyone who has a few extra minutes, because it does take a bit to get your coffee, but its definitely worth the wait! A little pricey, but worth it.

Im NOT an avid coffee drinker at all ... In fact caffeine gives me headaches !! But Subculture has so much variety and tea and amazing pastries, my latte today gave me no headaches and just wanting more. Service is perfect. The boys over there are learned (in their trade; coffee), well mannered and fast. The environment is great. from the board games to the art, its A+ real chill all the way. Well done guys. We needed a good one here in downtown and this is it. My husky Is coming with me next time! Keep it up and NEVER EVER close !!

Espresso was ok. Service was eh. Beats Starbucks any day of the week. No story behind the coffee though. Did some research online about the company, and some controversy about trying to obtain the location next door to them came up. Seems like they were on the local news several times about that issue. I guess thats a great way of marketing these days. However, being on the local news several times about a ridiculous issue is not what small businesses do, in my opinion. Leave the drama for the bigger players.

Coffee was slightly good, in that it jacked me up enuff to study through day following night of little sleep. Giving 2 stars because there was one chick who helped me that was cool, and one that was a total beotch. I live in Hawaii now, where brown skin is thank Goddess the majority. Still shocks me when I come back to my home state of Florida and I get pissy attitudes for no reason. Is it racism or what? Subculture, work on that. As a small biz, you must know that Customer experience is #1.

A spacious, buzzing cafe serving coffee and espresso drinks, breakfast (eggs, oats, & pastries), lunch (bowls & sandwiches), and health-conscious smoothies. Theres outdoor seating as well, on the sidewalk in front and in the nice shaded alleyway to the side, where you will share space with a whimsical, colorful mural. The Nitro cold brew is top notch, though it would be nice to be given a glass if youre drinking it there (though, props, their takeaway containers are all compostable).

The only place I go to for coffee. Used to drink Starbucks all the time until I tried the coffee here, Ive never gone back to Starbucks since. Great and cozy atmosphere, The baristas seem to really enjoy working there and love conversation, they have an alley outside where there is also seating, complimented by an amazing mural. once a month they stage Tacos and Hip Hop which is a huge dance party in the alley way which is also a cool bonus. No other place like it!

I frequently travel to this area and just found this little piece of heaven. Im trying to support local establishments more and more and Subculture makes it easy. Everyone is friendly and the vibe is awesome. I was down here for 7 days and I think I went to Subculture at least twice a day for my "coffee fix." Im not sure which I miss more, the ocean or Subculture. Its that good!

Subculture is home for many local Palm Beach County residents. The atmosphere, service, and quality of food + coffee is superb! You couldnt ask for a better spot to enjoy some down time, get some work done, or just catch up with a friend! Sean and his crew are incredibly friendly and loved across the city. Stop on by and enjoy some time!

Ive been coming to the Palm Beach area annually for a decade, and up until now I have never had what Id consider great coffee. thank goodness for these folks, their keen interest in the craft and their attention to detail. Great espresso (GREAT), and lovely work on the milk based espresso drinks as well. Kudos!

I was traveling in the area for work, and I stopped in to Subculture Coffee to get an iced coffee. I was blown away by how good it was, and the paleo banana nut bread I had was THE BEST Ive ever had. Ill definitely be stopping by again before I leave to grab coffee for the road.
