The sales staff can be lacking at times. Technicians take a breath of patience before entering. First off I will state that I do not find a "Restocking Fee" to be unreasonable at all. Especially when it is clearly defined and posted. I try to frequent and recommend my own customers to Tech Advance for any parts that I either do not have on hand or do not carry. Small Business should support each other. I visited the store today to purchase a Serial Port to USB Adapter Cable. Unfortunately it was not functional with the Touch Screen I needed to install for my clients point of sale system. So I returned to the store to return the USB Cable and to exchange for a PCI Serial Port Card. The younger and newer employee stated there would be a restocking fee and stared at me as if he felt this would dissuade me or as if I were taking his lunch money. I said this is fine, how much is the restocking fee? "Im not sure Ill have to ask." and the employee walks over to the office of the manager on duty, then came back to say "Its $3" Again I asked, Yes, but how much is the fee? What percentage is it? To which the employee replied "Well it depends on the condition of the packaging, and this..." I stopped him, told him not to bother with the speech, I needed to get my part and get back. The young man proceeded to return the cable, deduct the $3 Random Fee and charge me for the PCI Card I needed. As I was putting in my PIN and and getting ready to leave, the employee again tries to give me his rhetoric about the Restocking fee to Condition of packaging ratio. I again tell him to stop, tell him Im not mad at him, that Im not even mad at all. I just find not having a set value restocks to not be a smart way to run a business. The fellow didnt even verify if all contents were intact or inquire if the cable seemed to be faulty at all or even a "Was it a different interface than this?" For the sake of thoroughness, the packaging was a blister pack and cut neatly and straight around is edges with scissors. Still complete in one piece. Which is more than can be said for most "Restock" items you will see haphazardly taped together and hanging next to their still new counter parts for usually about 10% less. This is not to mention that when I returned to my client, completed my work and started to create their invoice. I found that the big fella had given me the receipt for the $19.99 returned Cable and NOT the receipt for the $34.99 Card or even both! This was just todays episode, Ive had sales persons previous in here "Correct me" about a centronics versus a parallel cable interface. Another time argue with me that "Thermal Paste is the Same as Thermal Adhesive." and finally upon my last visit about two months ago, return a faulty Gigabit NIC, another employee made the comment that "Ya know in online stores they charge a restocking fee." Most techie kids would love to work at a place like this even if they have to deal with retail customers all day. But this heavy set fella always carries himself like hes in retail hell and on commission only.

I went to Tech Advanced Computers about 18 months ago and was treated very poorly. I was placing my Mac in for service & asked to see the Mac technician. I was told that he WAS NOT IN THE STORE. As I was starting to leave the store, I observed the service advisor conversing with "THE NOT IN THE STORE Mac Tech." I confronted the service advisor and he and another female employee LAUGHED IN MY FACE. I then withdrew my Mac computer from repair and left the store. I then wrote a letter to the president of Tech Advance complaining about this event and I WAS IGNORED by him also. I have since gone to other Apple Authorized stores for service & I will NEVER SET FOOT in Tech Advanced again. Some places of business think that they are TOO BIG TO FAIL, but if a business gives bad service to enough people they will. Tech Advance knows their tech stuff & IF YOU WANT TO BE ABUSED as a free bonus, then by all means do business with them. THIS UPDATE for Tech Advanced - It is now 2017 and I have not been ABUSED in TWO YEARS by Tech Advanced Computers - THE REASON " I have not set foot into the place since they laughed in my face two years ago" I continue to spend my $$$ at other Apple approved repair places and I am as happy as a clam.

I dropped my Sony lap top off on a Wednesday. It was having problems randomly shutting off if you lifted it the wrong way or put too much pressure on certain areas. So, when I dropped it off the told me that they were pretty slow and it shouldnt take too long before they were able to call me and give me a diagnosis. Well, Friday I called, and they told me that it was the "next" one and someone would call me tomorrow. I didnt hear from them until Tuesday afternoon. The tech told me she wasnt even able to turn the computer on! She tried with multiple power cords with no success. She did say that she dismantled the computer and found damage to the motherboard that was irreplaceable. I was disappoint that it wasnt fixable and went to pick it up Wednesday. I was charged $25 for a diagnosis fee or whatever, which ok. I took the computer home, plugged it up and hit the power button. Amazingly it booted right up. And now no matter what I do, or where I touch it, it will not shut off. BUT now the mouse pad doesnt work, or keys L, O, semi-colon, or the comma buttons. Its so frustrating to know I took my computer to a repair shop and they couldnt even turn it on in a week! Amatuers? YOU DECIDE!

Its funny how most all the 5-star ratings are done by thier employees! I went to tech advanced, only to find that thier staff has no idea what they were talking about...spoke to a tech about a problem i was having with a piece of hardware, and while speaking to him...he didnt even know what device manager was in windows! also found out that thier apple certification is a joke. the store may be a mac reseller but not a single technician there was able to say or prove they had a Mac Repair certification. This place does get one star rating because some of thier hardware prices are competitive and decent, however $200 for an Antec 300 case is a bit insane when you can buy it elsewhere for like $69 - $89. If i could give it a negative rating i would. Be aware of this place, the warm bodies that work there are just that... warm bodies and not too educated in the industry.

I went to tech advanced because Ive had friends go there with virus problems and software issues and they did a good job. Ive fixed 100s of computers in the past, but I cant fix hardware issues. Went there to see why my desktop computer wouldnt start anymore, suspected it was the motherboard since it would start up and then shut off. However, they told me it was the power supply and would cost over $150 to fix. I bought a power supply myself for $75 and installed it... still broken. Took it to a friend to look at - sure enough - motherboard fried. Bought a new board one and now it works great (plus I was able to return the power supply)! Luckily Tech Advanced only charged me $25, but thats $25 for absolutely nothing. I wonder if they even looked at it or just guessed a solution from the symptoms.
