We had tried to order shoes at their online store and was told the item was sold out. So we drove to this store with high hopes that it would be in stock. We had called and talked to a footwear staff member on the phone who was informative, helpful and said there are electric carts for the disabled. So when we got there the handicap parking is across the street and a good distance to walk. The entrance is not at the wheel chair ramp and still requires going across a bridge area that has a big car at the entrance. Other entrances look like they are for boat sales. Once inside we asked for the motorized wheel chair and was told only a wheel chair is available and it was for someone under 250 pounds. More like for a child or small adult. No one was friendly and even though the foot wear person was helpful she was the only one there for the entire department having to wait on several people at one time. She could not find a size in the sale items for us but did find one in the most expensive pair In despite need of the shoes for therapy we bought the ones she brought out to us. The check out line is efficient and the wait time was less then 5 minutes. The cashier would not honor any online offer even thought the online site was sold out and the price at the store was higher plus tax plus driving time and gas. Would we ever go back...no. It is too far to drive and online shopping is easier. One thing that really is disturbing is there are a lot of tourists shopping there that come from safe neighborhoods. The women had their hand bags, cameras, and other purchases in their buggies and would leave to try on shoes leaving the buggy unattended. It would be a costly mistake to have all of this stolen plus a passport. The store seemed safe enough but guarding your valuables is essential when traveling. Letting your guard down even for a few seconds could ruin your vacation. My spouse wanted to see something in another department but could not walk the distance. This place is huge and really needs to work on improving handicap accessories. I cant blame the staff for looking so unhappy because they are probably overwhelmed and short handed.

Its the customer service manager that has the issue but had multiple with this location. Went to buy a canoe and found for $129 less at Dicks. I had a ton of Bass pro points so called to see if they Price matched and was told no buy the person that answered the phone. A few days later went back to Dicks and they had sold out of the canoe but expected more in. Then, while at bass pro making a return, I asked why they didnt price match and the person that waited on me told me that they did. I then told them that I wanted to buy a canoe from them and told them my saga. The problem was that they were now also sold out and could not help me but could give me a rain check but not at the price that I could get it from Dicks for but at their $129 higher price. I could order it online and have it delivered to the store but again at the higher price. I asked to speak to the customer service manager and he was short toned, rude and without expression. No empathy, no help. I could not reserve or even prepay for the one that they had coming in on the 29th. At this point it was not about the canoe, it quickly changed to the attitude of this person responsible for CUSTOMER SERVICE? Out of the 5 things I bought there for Christmas, I returned 3 because I was able to find them at major retailers for drastically less, but again it was not about the pricing. I typically shop for the experience but this place just blew it. Great visible atmosphere but poor pricing and most importantly poor customer service. I am responsible for purchases for my company and have been buying a 1400 dollar item from them on a regular basis. I also have purchase over 15k in items from them personally in the past year. NO LONGER. I am cancelling my Bass Pro Credit card and turning to other retailers that understand that as consumers we have a choice in where we shop. I know that I may sound petty but this wasnt about me not getting the canoe from them. I run a sales organization of over 100 sellers that understand that we earn customers business every day. We earn it! In my book bass Pro did not earn mine.

I am heading off to Haiti on a missionary medical trip to help earthquake victims in Port Au Prince. I called Outdoor World (Bass Pro Shops) in Orlando on I-drive. Talked to Mark the manager. I asked if they could give a discount on supplies, to help the mission trip efforts. I was told by Mark (manager), that they would give me their employee discount of: 40% off any camping supplies and 50% off any clothing supplies in the store. I drove 1 hour to the store. I got two tents, two sleeping bags, several Columbia shirts & pants that are heat resistant and cool. It is 100F daily in Haiti - so i want to stay as cool as possible, since we will be working outside 12 hours a day. The manager on duty (Carol) absolutely refused to honor the employee discount! She was rude! She was snobbish and judgmental by saying "you are gonna wear Columbia PFG shirts to Haiti?!?!" (like i am not supposed to wear a $40 shirt to Haiti or something!). I explained that i was looking for clothes that were heat resistant and had the omni-shade SFP UV protection which the Columbia shirts had. She absolutely refused to discount the items!!! I was treated rudely. I lost my cool, and cussed at her... vowing to take this up with the other manager Mark (who was not there that day). When i called Mark the following day to check what the heck was going on... he started to change his story too, and make a bunch of excuses! At this point (while on the phone with this manager) - i am thinking: "why lie to me?!" Why even bother telling me that you would give me the employee discount that you claim you do for all kinds of other missionaries going to Haiti.... when you have NO intention of following through with it!! So i went to Sports Authority - and gladly gave them my hard-earned money for all kinds of Columbia shirts & pants. Sports Authority gave me a $25 off coupon for my purchase. Stay away from Bass Pro Shops. Bunch of money-hungry liars!!!

Watch your personal belongings in the store!!! My 8 year old son had all of his money taken today by some teen scumbags at the shooting arcade. They were hiding in the tall camo coverall racks and waited until he was distracted. It was money he had been saving for vacation for awhile-tooth fairy, good report card, allowance, birthday, etc. We alerted an employee as soon as we realized what happened and the best they could do was look around the store for the guys. They have security cameras but couldnt involve security because "theyre only for loss prevention of merchandise". Pathetic!!! They couldnt help a kid out! My son learned a lesson today about keeping up with belongings...but he also learned that he doesnt care to visit another Bass Pro Shop because they didnt seem to care much. I agree with him. That particular store needs to move all of the tall camo coverall racks from the arcade area so theres nowhere for people to hide and they should have an employee at the arcade at all times to monitor things. Thanks Bass Pro shops for helping my child become more distrustful of everyone....and helping him realize no one really cares about customers, just their bottomline. If stealing from a child isnt worth "loss prevention" status, I dont know what is. Im not sure they would have taken it more seriously if my purse had been stolen...which is horribly disconcerting. Then, they had 2 employees try to sign me up for a stupid sweepstakes/drawing while Im standing there trying to console my crying, angry, and sad son. Count me and my family out from any of your "family" events if thats how you treat kids. That probably lures even more jerks into your stores. Heres to karma. Avoid this store!!!!
