I was in the Dollar Tree today over in O.C., and saw an amazing example of this. Met a very unusual cashier named Jamaal while checking out. When I entered the store, I got an enthusiastic, Hello while he was checking out a line of people around 11:35 am. While I was shopping and checking out a handfull of generic triple antibiotic and Benedryl, he greeted every person coming and leaving, asked everyone pleasantly in line how they were, and made them feel that it was sincere. He never broke stride, never missed an opportunity to acknowledge, and never made it look artificial. How he managed to do all of this and still never missed a beat while checking out is a mystery, but one thing was certain and obvious. He was walkin with God, decided that his job was a blessing, and he chose to enjoy his day and pass that joy on to all of his customers. What an unusual experience it was , and in this day of rude impatience wherever you go, he really made an impact on my day. (I literally HATE shopping), and look forward to going there again-he left that much impact on me, and I hope I can grow to be more like him.What an awesome company rep! ( I have copied and pasted this from a post I made on my FB page. When doing so a former co-worker immediately knew who i was talking about, and posted also)...good for the store image I would think. Note I am 62 yrs. old, and run a small petsitting business, if I could afford to expand, I would try to steal him!
