My Chihuahua is 5 years old, and has her nails cut every month. She had 2 visits there for nails. On March 10th My sister and I took her there to have her nails cut. What normally takes 3-5 minutes.,,,took 10-15 mins. She has always been a sweet chihuahua, loved everybody and enjoyed people talking to her and petting her.Not anymore. She choked her with whatever was put around her, almost 3 months later, she still chokes water.throat & lungs. Her right ankle is swollen ,she favors her right leg, often stumbles as she goes up the patio step, and a few times I sat her down, and she nearly fell as the right leg went out from under her. Plus, she was choked so badly she blows air out of her nose, food or water comes out her nose. She licks all 4 paws most of the time, and she has a nic some sort of a mark, almost looks like a cut up on her left ankle which she licks all of the time.(the mark was up the backs of all 4 legs. that girl should not work with animals. She was seriously traumatized at that petland. The girl who cut her nails came out really mad, saying very loud (SHE WAS A BAD DOG) The groomers arm was all scratched up, the whole arm. All groomers always said, what a good dog!! They all loved her. Never a problem. My Sweet chihuahua now fears everyone who goes near her. The manager said he would look at the film. a woman called me back, saying the film was only 5 mins.long. She said ,nothing was wrong. " The groomer said that she held her like a baby in her arms, and the dog was even playing on the floor." So, they lied to me. Lola would never play on any groomers floor, she would be so scared. My Chi would be scared of other dogs, the girl had told me puppies were back there barking. My Chi would be very nervous if dogs were around , especially barking. You cannot put her in that position in your arms(as holding a baby) I know my dog. Very well. I wanted an ex ray of her hip and leg, and the nic and ankle checked by a good vet. I held her and my sister looked, she has marks up the backs of all4 legs, cuts behind each paw, and a cut in the center of her right paw. It (2 months later is still bigger then the rest and she still favors that paw. The girl told me she had to cover her eye to try calm her...well that alone right there would traumatize her. She still ( 2 months later) fears and fights her harness being put on. I think they hurt her eyes by however her eyes were covered. She cant spot squirrels so easily anymore. One week later, she is still nervous , and walking very carefully. Oh yes, the girl told me her nails were so long they were cutting into her pads, she said they are curly for me to bring her back in 2 weeks to be done again. I informed her, her nails were cut every month and were not in her pads nor did they curl. Another thing, the manager didnt know my last name, nor did he know the dogs name, which causes me to wonder what film (if any) did they look at? Plus, on further checking her out..she would and still does ,wash her private all the time, I looked and she was cut there. Her part where she wees use to be a round looking bud like, now looks like a stick, straight up, and she is swollen all around back there. 2 months later still carefully washing that part....Plus, her ribs hurt her, she screams if a tug comes on her belly part and I have to be very careful on how I pick her up. The girl that supposedly cut her nails, did not do so.She talked to me like a con artist talks.Very soft and swift wording and all lies. after 5 years ,I know my dog. If a groomer is having a problem with a dog, what is so difficult with taking the dog back to the owner, just say, she is nervous,I cant cut her nails? I have to say..1 month later, the girl along w/ another girl and a child were walking 2 isles away in Walmart,Largo..Lola (in her stroller) spotted her and snapped, growled, barked (scared me and everybody around) as they quickly entered into another isle. I would never recommend that Pet Land for grooming. What is the harm in them telling me the truth? Be warned.

I adopted a cat from the SPCA the other day. My son went and bought all the things cats need, including food, toys, litter ETC. We picked things on sale. He came out from purchasing and told me his bill was very high. Unfortunately we didnt look at the receipt until I got home. That is when we noticed the dry food that was listed as $13 was almost $20. The wet food that was listed as 74 cents was $1.49 and the toy we thought was $1.50 was almost 6 dollars. I told him to take everything back but he didnt want the hassle. I have had my 10 year old rescue for 4 days now and noticed he wouldnt eat this $20 bag of cat food. And he isnt interested in the $6 dollar toy. So I went there to get store credit with my receipt for food he may like better. That was fine. But the level of help I received from employees and management was implorable. The lady at the desk was clueless on how to do the credit and had to call the manager 3 times. The manager was rude and kept walking away and not helping her employee. I went and picked out a smaller bag of dry food to try and cans that were on the shelves marked on sale. Every can I brought up was the brand but not the flavor. I asked for help from yet another employee who picked the ones on sale for me and again not the flavor on sale when we got to the desk. Their excuse was that people move items around on the shelves. UM no everything was stocked side to side no room to move things and signs were right under product The old bait and switch. If you are a person like my son who doesnt pay attention to the receipt the item you are paying for that you think is 74 cents is now wrong up at 1.50. The bag of food with a sign that says 13 dollar is now 20 dollars. Add that up and your bill will be twice what you are expecting. Then they told me in order to get some sale prices you have to be a perk member, But in order to be a Perk member you have to pay $9 to get the discounts. But why wouldnt they offer that information before you complete your purchase. Just if you are going to go to this store beware of the sales, look very closely at your receipt, and dont count on the employees being of much help

I am honestly confused as to how Petlands practices are not considered blatant animal abuse. I didnt realize places like this still existed. Puppies were stuck in cramped little cages with NO water and only harsh, artificial light. The floors of the cages were mesh, which is terrible for their feet. Theyre mesh so that they puppies can pee through it, but the poop doesnt go through. Three different cages had uncleaned poop that the poor puppies were forced to step in. Every single puppy I saw seemed to also have a swollen rear-area, which is an obvious indicator of digestive distress. I saw one puppy cry and attack the side of the cage to be let out. When no one came, he was forced to poop in his tiny cage. His cage mate then immediately ate it all. Great place. These puppies are literally being taught to pee and poop wherever they are. And they are being taught to bark and cry loudly and constantly. What kind of person wants a new puppy from this kind of a start? Not to mention the breeders. What kind of breeder would subject their puppy to this? Definitely ones only interested in money. No decent breeder would EVER let one of their puppies go to a place like this. That likely means that these dogs arent even well-bred. Without talking directly to the breeder, how could you ever know that these dogs come from parents free of hereditary defects? How could you know they will live long and happy lives? Lastly, Ill mention the pocket pets. All of the birds and rodents were in open-top cages that anyone can stick there hand down into. No wonder the birds and hamsters learn to bite! Id bite too if it was the only way to keep peoples hands off of me! The poor little hamsters had all smushed themselves into a crack which was he only place where people couldnt reach them. Plus, think of all the kids that try to pick up all of these little critters and drop them, or squeeze them too hard. Just terrible. I dont understand how pet stores like this still exist. I thought we had done away with this kind of a disgusting practice years ago.
