Went out of my way to purchase here, to support the continued existence of brick-and-mortar bookstores, but I wont be purchasing here anymore. Its like buying from a seedy spam-filled website, but far less convenient. When trying to check out, I was harassed aggressively by the register staff to buy into some "discount program", then, when I refused, was pushed to participate in some "RISK-FREE" magazine offer, which I just hastily signed off on to get the guy off my back so I could take my books and leave. When I returned home, I found that not only was I charged double the correct price for a clearance item I purchased, but ALSO that this supposed "risk free" offer would CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD which was used at BAM if I didnt jump through hoops to cancel it in time. I found this ABSURD and attempted to return my items and resolve the magazine offer, and was told that they would only give me a gift card, and could not place the $20 purchase price back on my husbands credit card, NOR could they cancel the magazine offer for me. Absurd, considering they can CHARGE that card for magazines without having it present, but cant REFUND my purchase, even though this is simple and hassle-free at most retailers. Scummy business tactics like this are going to expedite the fall of the brick-and-mortar bookstore. It will be sad to see it go, but with practices like this, they DESERVE to go under.

A DISGUSTING business. Absolutely repulsive customer service. Upon purchasing a $12.99 book, I was informed that I was the winner of a FREE YEAR SUBSCRIPTION to People/Entertainment Weekly magazines. Although I do not read these typically, I was assured it was free for a year, so I agreed. I filled out a form with my ADDRESS on it. Three months later, I now have a $58.50 charge from People Magazine on my bank account. Not only is this scandalous and wrong that I am being charged, it means that Books A Million GAVE AWAY my bank account information. After calling People Magazine they informed me that Books A Million is having a problem with the way they are promoting this "free subscription" and that they gave them my account information, included the card number that I purchased the $12.99 book with. Do NOT shop at this store. They are never there to assist you when looking for something, they charge outrageous prices...support local bookstores. Actually, support any bookstore other than this one.

Its great to have at least one remaining brick and mortar big box book store in Polk County. They definitely stock whats trending foremost. They are lacking in the "classics" department in my opinion. I like the bargain shelves, though I rarely find an amazing print from them. They have a cafe with seating so you can have a comfortable space to read and decide what to purchase. You can request any book from an employee and they will order it for you. This has become less "amazing" with the ease of online shopping these days, but it is still great to have such a fine selection of magazines, graphic novels, fiction, non-fiction, language and so much more to browse with your eyes and not a mouse. I still shop here often.

I have been here over a hundred times. I dont want staff bothering me every five minutes. I come to Books-A-Million to grab a coffee and a sandwich and peruse the latest titles. If I find something Im interested in I buy it. The staff here keeps the inventory well organized and they have a system for finding books. The first time they will tell you where the book is, if you search and are unable to locate it, when you ask again they will walk over and figure out why it isnt where its supposed to be. Sometimes when the store is too busy (or its near closing) they dont have time to help, but these Book Slaves are making minimum wage and probably only get to sit down for 10 minutes in an 8 hour shift, so I understand.

WORST BOOKS A MILLION IN FLORIDA! I am disgusted with their rude service. And, to top it off, they have a creepy male employee, whom I later found out was a manager, who kept hitting on me even though I clearly showed how uncomfortable I felt. Also, when you buy a mere $2 item, they try to pressure you so bad to buy their discount card... its obnoxious. If you can buy your books online, or at another bookstore, I recommend doing so. Books A million in Lakekeland is NOT costumer friendly!

I had never been to one of these before, but I would say I liked it better than Barnes and Noble. It had a greater selection of niche merchandise, such as Pusheen, which is what I usually go to book stores for. The prices, from what I looked at, seemed pretty comparable, but some things were cheaper. There was also a frozen yogurt place inside of it. I cant attest to the staff or froyo, as I hadnt interacted with any or bought anything, but everything overall seemed great.

This Books-A-Million has no coffee shop and charges for Wi-Fi... What? I realize that a lot of folks only come to book stores to buy a book and leave, but some of us like to sit down, sip on a coffee, and read... Or sit down, sip of a coffee, and woke on a paper. Its difficult to do that here when theres no coffee shop to get a coffee from. Also, charging for WiFi? Its 2014. Go next door to Crispers (or pretty much any other business in this plaza) and its free.

Books a Million is my favorite book store. Weather your a Potterhead (Harry Potter), A Half-blood (PJO), A Tribute (Hunger Games), or any other fandom, this is your place. Along with all the most wonderful books ever, the have other merchandise, such as funny t-shirts, signs, POP collectibles, and stuffed toys. Its a really fun place to hang out. Make sure to try the Summer Reading Challenge and win a prize!

I hardly write reviews. In fact, I NEVER write reviews. This is my first! However, meeting just one friendly staff member changed my experience there. They are sweet and attentive. If you need help, ask for Ted! Hes the best and extremely informative!! Also, the location is GREAT. Theres lots to do if you get bored from there.

I friend and I purchased some things a few months ago and the lady at the register signed us up for some magazine subscriptions that she ensured were free. My friend was just charged at least sixty dollars for them. Ive tried calling them twice (tis a Friday afternoon) and they arent answering.

Great book selection, fun place to go! The buying experience, however, is not so fun. They try to up-sell you at least three different promotions and it really makes the line slow. I basically stopped going here just because Im really tired of hearing the sales pitches every single time.

Uh...is there another bookstore in Lakeland? Doesnt look like it, unless you want to buy a religious book or text book. Seriously, why do people even live here? Ive been to Books-a-zillion stores before. Its not horrible. Its a bookstore, buy a book and leave.
