I recently purchased a bike from this shop, and on the day I was there trying out different bikes, the service was fine. And thats where it stopped. The first thing that happened was I put a deposit down on a bike, but the amount that was actually swiped on my card was double the amount I thought I was putting down. When I called the next day to point this out, the guy said he could not figure out why it did not add up but gave up trying. He offered to correct it, but I said I was going to buy the bike so leave it , and I would just pay the difference when the bike came in. An honest mistake. But then I called a week later to find out of the bike was in, and he said he had not ordered it yet, but was waiting for my ok( even though I stated a week earlier that I WAS buying it). He said the order would go out that Monday and be the bike would be in by the following Friday. I got message that Thursday saying the bike was on back order (not their fault) and it would be in week later. After this week passed ( 2 weeks since I put down the deposit) I called on that Saturday and spoke with guy who sold me the bike and he said it was not in, the company was looking to bring one in from another store and he would let me know by the end of the day whether they found one and it was assembled. He never called me. He did call my friend who I originally shopped with and told her that her bike was in and so was mine. The shop never called me to tell me the bike was in, and I waited until that Monday. When I called this time I spoke to another person who said- yes its here, assembled and waiting to be picked up. When I pointed out that I have never been called to come get it, she said - "well there is a note here saying you were called, so I dont know." So 25 days after putting down 70% on a bike, I finally got it. There was no acknowledgment of the string of errors, no offer to rectify and only after I paid the bill, did he ask if I needed accessories. My friend was buying a bike rack, and instead of telling me that I needed the arm to put onto my bike, they tried to sell it to her, even though her bike frame did not require it, so even up until the last minute they could not get it right. A simple "sorry for this" would have gone a long way. I was not even given the owners manual, my friend had to walk back in and ask for both mine and hers ( as another guy was fitting the bike rack to her car).

Went for a quick tune-up having just moved to Fort Lauderdale and my main road bike was destroyed in the move in a POD. These guys know there stuff, but tend to talk down to you to a bit. I ride roughly 4,000 miles a year and have for the past 20 years. Im also spoiled by the great service I had from Brands Bicycles on Long Island and Toga Bikes in downtown Manhattan. I rushed to put together a back up road bike and took it to them to finish it off. I had a few things set up wrong and they were great and let me know how dangerous it was, but they wouldnt listen when I disagreed with them on a couple of things. I had a $500+ set of M5 road brakes that they said werent designed for my bike. In fact they are and though the company isnt well known they are available on many elite internet bike stores. I told them the brake shoes didnt line up because they werent made by the company that makes the brakes, I told him I couldnt afford the $100 they wanted for the matching brake shoes. Instead he offered a deal on a set of carbon brakes. They also told me I was missing compression plug on an Easton SLX carbon fork. Easton told me directly twice that I didnt need one, the gentleman and the store didnt believe me and looked at me like a dad talking to a child that was clueless. Despite this I would still return to their store, they know there stuff if not how to speak and listen to people respectfully. By the way there wasnt a single other customer in the store, so it wasnt like I was taking up there time. I would add another bike shop, Big Wheel Bicycles, just west of this one is horrible. Worst service Ive ever had. They act like their main goal is to get you out the door.

I hit five different shops looking for a beach cruiser. He (sorry I did not get a name) was obviously a serious rider; I am equally obviously not. However, he spent as much time with me as I needed; I rode several different models. He told me there was a new cruiser coming in on Friday that he hoped to get built for the weekend and I was welcome to come back. I returned and took the bike for a ride and liked it. I brought my Fiance back, I took the bike out again and my Fiance rode as well; I was sold. I was out the door in no time as promised, I am glad I stopped by for that first "lookie lou". I am still pleasant surprised and I LOVE my new Giant!

I havent done any maintenance on my bike in an embarrassingly long time. I called Downtown Bicycles after they opened and could hear they were busy but yet he let me know they could absolutely replace and install my tires today (while I was told it would be three days at another store). Once there I was greeted by friendly staff who were helpful and didnt try to upsell me, considering the age of my bike. After 20 minutes I picked it up again and scheduled a tune-up for next weekend because I was so impressed by the service I received. I found it refreshing to be in a specialty store where I wasnt looked down on because Im not a "real" cyclist.

Hello all. I bike out of necessity. In general , bikers irk me, usually because they take up the road and are in general snobs (from my experience at least.) The guys at Downtown Bikes are the antithesis of what I generally expect from cyclists. They are very kind, very helpful, and so far have treated me very well, even though im not part of the regular crowd. I ride a beat up old bike I got for $40 and they keep the thing running like new. Usually if you buy something, and dont have the tools to install it yourself, they will do it for you for either free or a small fee. Dont be afraid to check this place out.

Derrick, Milton and the staff at downtown bicycles are amazing. After suffering a running injury I wanted to get into biking (less impact on joints). The team took the time to custom fit me for a bike that fit and was comfortable. After doing some research I found that the deal they gave me on my bike was better than any other shop in the area, and most places didnt even have the larger frame. Great quality and I couldnt be happier with my new Felt V110f!!! Thanks Downtown Bicycles.
