we arrived at the drive thru at 9:45, when the store was scheduled to close at 10. after waiting in line, my boyfriend ordered a simple milkshake and was rudely informed that "the shake machine was down for the night" because they "technically were closed." i could see the clock inside the shop, and it read 10:02! he instead ordered a small cone, which made our total order 3 small soft serve cones, one with 30 cent sprinkles. our total came to 8 dollars and some change, even though there are 3 prices posted for soft serve, the first one being 1.68. he asked about the total and was told the 1.68 was for a kiddie size- apparently they dont have larges there?? after the rude obese teenage girl handed us our cones and flatly gave us the token "have a nice night...," the final insult was the VERY soft cone instantly melting and dropping sprinkles all over my lap- apparently that machine got shut down early, too. this very ordinary ice cream is not worth horrible service.

I love Rodeo Whip. Very good ice cream and nice people. In fact, they give you a lot for your money. Also, the best sundae Ive ever had came from here. However, expect to wait a long time to get your ice cream. The other night I went with a few friends. The place wasnt necessarily packed. We waited about 30 minutes before we were able to order. Same thing with today. I waited in the drive through for about 20 minutes only to move a few feet. There were 2 or 3 cars ahead of me. I drove away because I decided if it took 20 minutes to move a few feet, it would probably take another 40 just to get a scoop of ice cream. PLEASE FIX THIS. One of my favorite places,,,,, it should not take 30 minutes to order ice cream. Ive gone to so many ice cream places when it has been packed, and Ive never waited that long just to get a scoop of ice cream. Thanks!

Went there for the 1st time last Saturday with a friend and from the second we opened the door it smelled like a bathroom...not sugar! It was visually unclean as well old and worn out, not inviting! Unfortunately we will never go back unless we know there has been a health inspection and they get busy cleaning & disinfecting the entire place and make it a place where you feel comfortable having a seat and enjoying your treats. *for those of you who use only the drive thru, perhaps you should go inside and see for yourself. The staff were wonderful which is unfortunate. Had the vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate which was fantastic.

Would have given it 5 stars but I dont like waiting and every time I go there I have to wait for what seems to me to be too long. Otherwise, its a great place for ice cream. Parking lot isnt too good. The outdoor seating is in the parking lot so if you go after dark and sit outside, you get to have headlights in your face. Seats inside are on the smallish side - so if youre a larger person like myself ( 62" and 250 lbs), good luck getting comfortable. Prices are typical for ice cream shops in this area. The quality is above average. I love the Chocolate Doom!

Ive been going here since I was a kid! Before it was all enclosed and air conditioned. Friends still talk about getting a dip cone when we were little at Rodeo Whip. THE BEST ICE CREAM IN DELAND HANDS DOWN! I recommend (my current favorite) Chocolate covered waffle cone with hard black cherry Ice cream. What a treat!.. Great place.. hope it lasts for many generations to come. They really do have the best Hard Ice cream flavor, texture and consistency. Service is ok.. true... but Ill put up with a little smugness for the best any day.

I hesitate to review Rodeo Whip, its got great homemade ice cream, made every day from scratch, all the popular flavors and usually something special for the season, but a bunch of ornery, confused, impatient tourists can ruin anything. If youre from out of town, I guess its ok for you to visit our ice cream shop, but be polite, be patient, and try the rum raisin, or the maple walnut, or the chocolate peanut butter. If you want soft serve - and want to complain about it - go to a DQ.

Delicious house made ice cream! Have been going since I was a little tyke with my family and my parents go pretty much every weekend. Lots of flavor options as well as soft serve, with mix ins, shakes, sodas, sundaes, banana splits, etc. Excellent family place! Prices are moderate but its the best kept secret of Deland. 5 minutes from downtown DeLand. I love going here with my family or just with my husband and will probably bring our kids here some day.

Honestly this is the best Ice cream Ive had. Ive had theyre scoop and soft serve ice cream, as well as their milk shakes. I would give it 5 stars, but service speed needs vast improvement. Even on a slow day with one person waiting ahead of me in the lobby it took a little over 10 minutes before we got service, then another 5 minutes for just soft serve ice cream. I dont recommend the drive through, that is slower than molasses. Its faster to go inside.

There is a bit of a wait and it is very popular on the weekends with the drive thru backed out into the street but the ice cream is delightful and well worth it. I got the rocky road which can come in cup, sugar cone, or waffle cone. I got the waffle cone and the ice cream came with chunks of marshmallow instead of a swirl (which is the way it should be in my opinion) and a good almond to ice dream ratio. The cones was fresh and never stale.

A local treat Ive enjoyed for the last 19 years. Yes, they can get busy, but its worth the wait when needed. Delicious, homemade ice cream, around the corner convenience. Black cherry, rocky road, or any other flavor hits the spot. The large cones can be a bit...large, especially if driving and eating, so plan ahead and set aside time to stop and enjoy it instead.

Best icecream I have had in the US. I always buy a half gallon of chocolate peanut butter, but the other flavors are wonderful as well. They recently had a supply problem getting half gallon tubs and cant sell half gals anymore. A shame, really. I hope this can be fixed soon!

I have been eating this ice cream for over 15 years... none come close to the taste and quality. It is really home made with real cream... very rich... good for the palate but bad on the hips... if I have to die of something it should be something good, and this is it!

This ice cream isnt bad bad they need to hire more people on weekend nights. Waiting an hour in the drive thru or 45 minutes inside is unacceptable. I could of went into a sit down restaurant and got food quicker.
