I finally came here last week after hearing so much about this place -- both good and bad. Id heard, for starters, that its always busy; that the "line," (or "herd") is chaotic at best; that the staff hurries you; that the menu is written in chalk and hard to read; and that seating is very limited. All of these things were true to some degree, but not SO much that it ruined my night. After all, once youve dealt with that stuff, youve got ice cream! There was certainly a lot to choose from, and I didnt want to drive my group, or my server, nuts, so I went with my old standby -- Peanut butter ice cream. I ordered a small, but (again -- as I heard) the scoop was huge! The ice cream wasnt superior to all others but it was delicious -- I enjoyed it even though it was a freakishly cold night. I wish they had small tables inside instead of two huge family-reunion-style tables, and randomly placed chairs, but I guess you dont visit T Sweets for the ambiance, just the ice cream. As a side note, they have a "blending" option, and Ive heard both great and terrible things about the outcome of this -- maybe its just too much responsibility for us to decide which flavors go together -- so, choose carefully.

Had to try this place since it always has a line. And, I dont understand it. The ice cream is fine. Ive had better, and worse. The store is small, difficult to get in and out of, and the staff was harried and unwelcoming. Its dirty, the tables are not wiped down, the walls arent washed, et cetera. Its just a ho-hum ice cream shop. Save your time and sanity, Dolcezza Gelato is two blocks up Wisconsin with creative flavors, far friendlier staff, and appropriate standards of hygiene.

Because chocolate covered strawberry ice cream. This is a well known local ice cream shop that has a presidential endorsement. On the corner of Wisconsin and P in Georgetown this is a great place to take a break from shopping. There are some outdoor seating and room inside. They have traditional flavors and blend ins where you can mix in other treats. Their ice cream flavors stand on their own you can taste the freshness, blend ins and toppings would be overkill.

Too many amazing ice cream flavors and the fudge was to die for. The staff were polite and graciously provided samples at our request. I would say this is a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth, with a broad variety of flavors catering to any taste. I had the coconut ice cream and tried the chocolate/oreo/marshmallow ice cream as well - both were perfect for me. Think Ill get a double-scoop of the latter next time, because of course, there will be a next time!

I come here for desert every time Im near Georgetown since theyre open pretty late. It can be overwhelming at first because they have so many different flavors and the menu can be hard to read for some people but the server was kind and patient while I tried different flavors. I love the coffee heath bar and butter pecan flavors the best. I tried the coconut flavor the other day and it was surprisingly really good too (that is, if you like coconut)

This place got packed pretty quickly after we arrived. The ice cream is decent, but its pretty expensive and averages about $6 per cone. They also didnt take card at the time (but I think they regularly do since it seemed like the machine just wasnt working that day). Try to line up around lunch time. It may seem counter intuitive, but it makes sense since everyone else will be eating lunch and not getting ice cream.

Service was decent, bathroom was pretty gross (FYI for parents, I didnt see a changing table anywhere), but the ice cream was BOMB. I got the amaretto ice cream witch chocolate fudge, and it was heaven in a bowl. They have a lot of different toppings to choose from, but I would definitely recommend the hot fudge because its made with "real" chocolate, none of that Hershey business.

This is my favorite ice cream spot. They stay open late so I have time to cross town for a late night treat. The portions are generous. It is home to my favorite flavor: vanilla fudge. They use to be cash only but now are cash preferred. The ice cream has never disappointed. There is a bathroom for customers, an added bonus. I have taken everyone that visits me to this spot.

A great little dessert shop, perfect for a warm afternoon walking in Georgetown. I went for the ice cream, but theyve got fudge and other treats as well. Get the bitter chocolate! One of the best chocolate-flavored ice creams I have enjoyed. Most are overly sweet with little real chocolate flavor to speak of, so I enjoyed the balanced bittersweet flavors of this one.

By far my favorite place in DC! No matter how bad of a day you have at work, or out of work, this place will always life your spirits! Service is friendly and fast, and the ice cream and other treats are exceptional. I always make a point of bringing my out of town friends to TSG. PS the sundaes are twice the size of a cone serving but at the same price! Loveee TSG.

Thomas Sweet is some of the best ice cream in DC. When youre jonesin for the real deal (not gelato or froyo) this is the place to be. They offer a ton of flavors, some of which rotate seasonally. Its always packed but the line moves fairly quickly. The creamy indulgence is worth the 5 minutes. If youre up for it, go overboard with the brownie sundae.

Great selection of ice cream flavors!! The one disappointment was, when I saw that it was also a candy store, I smiled, however, the candy selection was limited to fudge and chocolate. It gets extremely crowed and there isnt any parking. My husband dropped us off and kept driving around the block. Ice cream tasted great on a hot day!!!

4 stars because of the ice cream and quality of it. Lacking 1 star because of the horrible customer service. Came in here a good amount of times with my girlfriend and every time greeted very rudely "what do you want?" As soon as we walk in the door. Not a thank you after paying. Blank stares. Good ice cream but get better employees!

Very poor service and quality. As well it is expensive. They served me the wrong flavor. I requested Swiss Chocolate and they gave me Cookies and Cream and wouldnt change it when it was wrong. The milkshake we had there was definitely the worst milkshake ever. It was like flavored milk. Not thick at all and poor taste.

I just moved to DC. Since my move, Ive tried Thomas Sweet Ice Cream Co and Giants store brand premium ice cream. The store brand ice cream is *way* better. Thomas Sweet ice cream wasnt very creamy and didnt have many "chunks." Its ice cream, so its still sweet, but Id prefer to spend my ice cream money somewhere else.

Delicious, delicious fudge and homemade yogurt. Their Oreo yogurt really, really tastes like Oreo cookies. Guy behind the counter was attentive, nice, and knowledgeable about all their desserts. Have tons of baked goods and ice cream as well. I only tried the homemage fudge (best Ive every tasted) and frozen yogurt.

These ice creams sucks. My wife and I had stomach-ache after we went there. The service is extremely bad. It looks like they were making you a favor instead of doing their job. And, one last thing: VERY EXPENSIVE. It would be better spend in Ben Jerry, Haggen Dazs or Georgetown Cupcake. Dont waist your time here.
