The store on Barracks Row is yet to open (coming in September), but if these folks treat business the same when they open as to how they are doing marketing, they will do very well. I met District Doughnut at the Yelp 10 Year Birthday Party and they invited us Yelpers to their soft launch in August. I went with two friends and the staff was super friendly. They let us try two of their doughnuts: Cookies and Cream and Blueberry. The cookies and cream is a cake doughnut and has glaze and Oreos on top. The blueberry one is a regular doughnut with all the blueberry toppings (It looks fancy). Both tasted amazing. They also have Compass coffee (which is opening in Shaw NW soon). One thing to note about Compass coffee is the decaf is actually good (Usually decaf coffee is only decent at best). 5 stars for great marketing, friendly staff, a strong social media presence, and a great location.

Cute little place! The doughnut selection is small but the flavors... TO DIE FOR. I had an iced coffee and a creme brulée doughnut. They actually torch the doughnut when you order it, so it has that wonderful creme brulée crunch on top! The coffee was as delicious as the doughnut. Service was fast and very friendly. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that I thought it was a bit too pricey. 2 regular coffees and 2 doughnuts came to $14 and change. Ouch! But I will go back for an occasional splurge. I look forward to trying the nutella bacon doughnut next time!

I like this place. The folks behind the counter are very friendly. Their creations are inventive, balanced, and not cloying. Most of the other fancy donut places Ive tried thus far manage to nail just 1 of these 3 categories. I could have definitely done without the noxious Social Register aspirant who walked in, surveyed me wordlessly, and then immediately sandwiched herself between me and the cashier WHILE I was being served (not making this up; no, it was not an honest mistake). But thats par for the course in Georgetown.

I came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. There was a long line and since the place was small, the line was out the door. We ordered the baklava and the salted dulce de leche doughnuts. The doughnuts were fluffy and not too sweet. I liked the baklava more since it had crunchy phyllo pieces and pistachios so the texture was interesting. The salted dulce de leche had a little too much cream for my taste but was delicious as well. If you want to come here in the morning, come early to avoid long lines.

This is probably one of the top places to get doughnuts in the district, but you have to get there early for a good selection. I also have had better, more creative doughnuts in other cities for similar prices. The $1 doughnuts at farmers & distillers beat this place, but district doughnut has more flavors and great staff. Coffee selection is OK. Not much space to sit and hang out but Ive only gone in cold months so Im not sure if outdoor seating is there when its warmer.

Great ideas for doughnuts BUT I should not have to read the website info backwards and forwards to know the "drill." Wanted a PB and J doughnut but I had to order 24 hrs in advance. Shrugs..didnt know. Have to order 4 or more. Shrugs..I wanted to try it first. AND the worker came off as a little rude and condescending when my wife and I werent aware of things OR asked about others. Maybe another try might produce better results...I believe you can do better District

The snickerdoodle is one of my all-time favorites, here, or anywhere else for that matter. The only thing I regret is how small the portions are; they have you paying upwards of $2.50 for something you can eat in 3 bites, and their stock is always pretty low (the infamous mocha crunch continues to avoid me for weeks on end). If it wasnt for the prices, or the less-than-stellar sizes, Id be back again every week.. for now -- their coffees good!

They have some good and interesting flavors but doesnt make my top five doughnut places. The only thing that really detracts from the doughnuts here is that the filling tastes like its instant pudding. I have gotten doughnuts from them several times and have been happy. They just arent as good as they can be. If you have the chance to try them please do.

The best, softest, melt in your mouth donuts, totally expensive but worth the indulgence at least once a quarter and they sell Compass Coffee, our new favorite local coffee! its beginning to show up everywhere, even Dolcezza uses it in their coffee flavored ice cream! Im a true DC girl! Love my hot spots! this is definitely one of them!

The venue is super quaint and its locations in both Georgetown and eastern market are perfect for exploring done of the best areas of dc. The staff are also super friendly and fun. Get a half dozen to share and sample with friends either at the store or take a little walk down to the water front! The donuts were very cake-like.

I had high expectations for District Doughnut. I appreciate the dulce de leche flavor, but overall, the experience was dull. Mildly better than krispey kreme/dunkin, but doesnt separate itself from the pack (on par with GBD, worse than Astro). If you dont live in the area, its not worth the trek.

I love love love the texture of these doughnuts: slightly chewy and as flavorful as good, risen bread. What I dont care for are the super sugary toppings, which are creative and beautiful but just not for me. But when the sweet tooth hits, I come here for a fix. Bonus: coffees good n strong here.

treat yourself! this is a great place with friendly staff, and delicious and unique flavors. a bit pricey, which is good. otherwise Id be here everyday. LOL. as it is, I treat myself about once or twice a month or when they introduce a new flavor that makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

Donuts were great! The dough part was soft but still held up to heavy flavors of the glazes. Donuts had good combinations of flavors. The Apple Glaze was a little too sweet for me. Good coffee too! Prices are good for the qualty and size, they look small but are very filling.

Meh doughnuts, generally. Sugar Shack is consistently better. They arbitrarily cancel online orders, with zero reasons, or customer contact. For me, this makes them a hard "pass". No one attempted to physically assault me, which is why they get the extra star

Okay. There was an excessive amount of bacon on mine, which I really enjoyed. But 2 doughnuts and a small coffee was $9! Still, nothing to write home about. I thought it would be insanely decadent or really big or be a nice experience in the store.

So delicious! The lemon merengue donut was absolutely fantastic. The brown butter is good too. My wife also enjoyed the milk chocolate glazed. The coffee is good, though nothing out of the ordinary. It is the donuts that shine here!

Not the most incredible donuts Ive ever eaten, but still very good. There isnt much space to sit inside or outside, so Id recommend taking the donuts out to a park or nearby bench. Overall, I think this shop is a bit overrated.
