Let me preface this by saying: I love Aldi. My last job was in Texas and the town I was in had one built. This place kept me full at a low price. Their produce is amazing, their meats are superb, they pay their employees well, and they even have chairs for the cashiers to sit at (because standing for too long is ridiculous). "But James, if you love Aldi so much, why would you give them just 2 stars?" Well, let me tell ya. I talked this place up to a close friend for months. "Dude, we gotta to Aldi. Its amazing. Fantastic. Wonderful." So after 6 months of pestering we set off. I walked in the door and thought "Oh. My. God. What the heck happened to this place?" Now maybe they were getting restocked that day I walked in but the place was a wreck. They were out of a lot of things (even hot dogs), and it was so messy - empty boxes, the floor didnt seem clean, a literal rotting watermelon. I was ashamed and my friend wasnt impressed. His first Aldi experience was nothing like my own. It was the complete opposite. We bought a few things and then headed to Safeway across the street to get the rest. I now get made fun of. "James, lets go to Aldi. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" Theres room for improvement here and if I ever return to this location and I see it, Ill be sure to write another review.

I enjoyed my shopping experiences here. It has great quality produce and a lot of snack foods for people who are dieting. It is the only grocery store that I have been to in DC with its own easily accessible parking lot. The cashiers have consistently been wonderful and very knowledgeable about the area. If you are looking to eat well and spend less on the essentials this is the place for you! The biggest challenge is that it doesnt have the variety of places like Giant and Harris Teeter so I get as much as I can here and then make a trip to Giant or Safeway to finish off my grocery list.

Cheapest groceries in town, downside is a small selection and lack of stock. I find that the meat (frozen and fresh) is significantly cheaper here than anywhere else in town. Frozen fish is is about half of what Ive seen elsewhere. The produce is really hit or miss, and not cheaper than Harris Teeter or Giant. Overall though a great store to go to to bring down your grocery bill. Note they only take debit cards and cash, and you need a quarter to get a grocery cart.

I prefer it to the Safeway next door any day. Far better prices (the "fresh" and USDA "organic" products are cheaper than the regular products at Safeway). Although they charge to use the carts and dont offer bags, their slogan rings true: "fancy grocery stores mean fancy prices." Their produce was always in great condition and the store was clean. I was impressed with the quality and price of the food. Aldi is my new go-to grocery store.

My wife and I were at the Safeway across the street from Aldi and needed brie cheese and wine (Which the Safeway did not have). We walked to Aldi and were surprised they had both and an array of cheap grocery items. Aldi can get a bad rap, but we will for sure go back for good groceries at an affordable price. Note: They do not take credit card (just debit). The cashier says this may change in 2016, but for not its policy

Awesome staples, awesome produce, awesome house ware items and awesome prices! Aldi is a store for people who like to cook and eat healthy on a budget. They feature a wide range of organic and gourmet products as well as a decent selection of beer, wine and ethnic German food. The location is conveniently located behind the old Hechinger Mall, and there is plenty of parking in their lot.

Most of the goods in Aldi are store brands but that doesnt make them any worse the the "real" brands. In addition Aldi got lots of great stuff, some of it imported, you dont see in other stores. And most importantly: Its half the prize compared to regular super markets in the US. Thats 50 pct. and its true believe it or not!

Can usually always find competitive prices on food even if store brands. Love their whole wheat bread, they have great guarantees on items. Staff is the best. Sale wines and beer. Great prices on almost everything. Bad time to shop is 1st of the month. Good times are after 9 in the morning and between 1: 30 and 3 p.m.

Aldis cheap prices and push for essentials make it the place to shop for groceries. Even though you have to rent a cart, they make up for it with the inexpensive and quality food. The Safeway next door cannot compete with their prices and as their motto states, they really do pass the savings onto you!

Cheap prices, but quality is overall not that great. Great prices on fruit and vegetables but they sell out quickly. You need to get there early to make sure the item you want is available. I find that the generic brand is actually pretty tasty. Long lines because they dont have many staff.

This store is so so small, but the store brand items are the best quality for money ratio among DC grocery stores. Vegan friendly store brands. CHEAP wine by the bottle. CHEAP specialty items like agave and other organic stuff that costs $$$ at conventional grocery stores and $ here.

One of my favorite grocery stores in DC. Good prices, weekly deals, and has all the basic food Staples, and more. Its not quite 5 stars, because checkout often takes a long time, and although the selection of some foods changes occasionally, Im sometimes bored by the selection.

Pretty good choice of basic groceries. If you know how and like to cook yourself, you will get good rundown for your money. Although place tends to be overcrowded on weekends and understocked in the end of the day, it is still pretty good choice for savvy customers.

Even before the remodel we have loved Aldi in NE. We do all our shopping there except for select specialty items, but even then the seasonal and discount section has a lot of surprises. Our family of 3 spends under $250 a month for 90% of our groceries there.

Organised. Helpful and pleasant staff. I usually put everything in bags or bring my own cart. They do have bags and offer them. Great quality food with low prices. I never thought it was possible. Great for anyone on a strict budget. Highly recommend.

They have great prices and usually fully stocked. The check out process could do with some re-thinking. The cashiers should slow down the process a bit when you are going to bag your items as they are checking them, especially if you dont have a cart.

This place is so cheap and has a lot of the same products as Trader Joes (a subsidiary). We generally end up paying 50% less than Safeway, Giant, and Harris Teeter. The only problem is that lines can be quite long and fresh produce is limited.

The prices are pretty good they dont have a great selection though but the lines move pretty fast shopping carts always work right they dont have a crowd of people outside the store bumming change the workers are pretty helpful and respectful
