Aftter having had a cheapie sub $100 bicycle which showed considerable wear and decay over the 10 years that I owned it, I finally decided to investigate something with significantly better quality within a reasonable price range. A year ago, I had visited a store within a mile or so of this one (also along Main St), but I was turned off by the sales staff as they didnt seem to show that much interest in either selling or explaining bicycles. I had read the reviews on this particular store and thought Id give them a try instead. Upon entering the store, I noticed a large number of bicycles all around. As I walked over to the counter, I was greeted, but one guy was in the process of eating lunch and referred me to another salesman. I explained that I wanted to be fitted as I had never been fitted for a bike before, the salesman asked me what type of bicycle/ terrain I was going to ride on, and started recommending several bikes. I was never fitted, but I was allowed to try out several bicycles and they didnt seem to mind how long I rode them. Eventually, I did settle on a purchase, but upon returning home, I discovered there was no kickstand (they actually charge separate for a kickstand these days!!!!!) and I realized I overpaid by 1/3 of the prices I saw on the web. They did of course offer an extended warranty which I think was $59 and I have 30 days or something to decide whether or not I wanted to purchase it. PROS: No problem allowing riding of bicycles to try them out. The salesman I did talk to seemed knowledgeable and addressed many of my concerns as I brought them up. The bicycle I did purchase is of higher quality based on web reviews. CONS: If youre fairly new to bicycles of higher quality and just starting out, I think I would avoid this store especially if you dont want to overpay. It seems like you should already have some knowledge of what youre looking for, so if you are already experienced this may be the store for you. The bicycle I did purchase can easily be found online for about 1/3 less than I paid at the store. Extended warranty can take a significant bite out of an already strapped budget.

Didnt even make it into the store. I parked in the Wooden Wheels parking space in the parking lot for Starbucks, Wooden Wheels, Duck Donuts, and Del One. I quickly ran into Starbucks to grab my drink I ordered on the app. I realized as I was walking, I forgot my wallet. I ran back to my car to grab my wallet so I could GO to Wooden Wheels for a family members Christmas gift, as I planned to originally. As I was searching in my car, I looked at my windshield to see a sticker. I hopped out the car to see a sticker from the Wooden Wheels store stating I was in parking violation and my car would be towed unless it was moved in 15 minutes. I glanced up to see a staff member from Wooden Wheels watching my reaction. I was caught off guard because I was planning to go into the store. Not only did the sticker lack a time stamp, it was BLOCKING my field of vision in my windshield. The sticker was also very hard to get off and I eventually gave up standing out in the cold trying to peel a sticker off of my windshield so I could even drive away. Safe to say that Bike line will be getting my business from now on.

I am fairly new to the triathlon circuit..had a used bike that I brought in the Newark shop. Tom, owner is the best at fitting your bike for you. Its an art form for anyone who is an avid rider--anyone who doesnt want their knees, hips or back to tweak up when riding..EVERYONE--should come in for a good setup with these guys. Just like Cheers..they all know your name. John is also an expert at what YOU need based on your level of performance. They sponsor all the neighborhood venues. The idiot that wrote 1-star is a retard I dont care who you are. If it wasnt important to get their names, then why even leave a comment. Leaving a license is standard to any outfit. You wanted a helmet too? Does that require wine and a napkin too?!

I read several good reviews regarding Wooden Wheels Shop in Newark. Drove past a couple of competitors to have WW staff take a look at my Raleigh M80 that had been sitting for a few years. I was greeted as soon as I entered the store, and told the person (sorry didnt get his name) what I needed and if they were interested in giving the bike a check/tune whatever it needed. He stopped what he was doing, literally took a bike out of the "vice" and checked mine over, inflated the tires checked the shifter and brakes. Handed the bike back......no charge. If you have any problem bring it back. I did purchase a can of chain lube. Theyve got my business!!

Happened upon this gem of a bike store when I got a flat that I was trying to fix at a nearby Wawa. Robbie, who happens to work at the store saw me at the Wawa and offered to drop me off at the store even though he wasnt working that day. The service is prompt and I didnt realize that my mountain bike had two different types of tires. The guy at the counter, whose name I didnt get, located the correct replacement tire from his inventory and in short order my bike was fixed and I was back on the White Clay Creek Trail. I will definitely be back to do some serious shopping. Prompt service and super courteous staff.

I drive across state lines and past multiple bike shops to use Wooden Wheels. Their mechanics are the best Ive run into. They dont judge you by your bike, or where you purchased it (I have not bought a bike there...yet). My last visit was to fix an issue I created and made worse by trying to fix it myself. Again, no judgements just offers to help fix it before the next weekend so I could get out and ride. Worth the hour ride to have my bikes serviced correctly every time!

Just purchased a Cannondale at the Wooden Wheels store. Amazing and caring STAFF. FANTASTIC prices. I know people prefer buying things online because they are a lot cheaper than local shops. NOT at Wooden wheels. Got my bicycle for a fantastic price, (cheaper than anywhere online), in addition, parts and accessories are the same or even cheaper than buying online. I will now support the store and buy my cycling needs there.

Purchased my wheels recently from here. Service was excellent although salesman could have used more courtesy in offering a helmet (the below review is truthful). Price of the bike was decent but overall value (added accessories and discounts etc) it was a great. Recommended seller if you are willing to work with them and create a relationship.

I like the shop. Good people and a nice selection. Problem is that like all bike stores its overpriced. Not as bad as the other bike store in Newark though. If you want something on the cheap this isnt the place for you. If youve got the money and arent worried about spending it then this would be the place Id go in your shoes.
