I went to petco to purchase a long nose butterfly fish and they sold me a sick fish. All the fish in my tank are now sick. Went back to the store to ask for help and was told that there was nothing they could do. They are so inexperienced and under staff its not funny. I was then told I would have to come back to the store when the manager of the fish department was back. I then went back to the store to talk to that manager and I was told that she wasnt aware of the new shipment. I will not be going there to purchase anything ever again even supplies for my tank. I am not happy with my experience at all. We go to petsmart to buy animals not diseases. If you want a nice experience with friendly staff who know what they are talking about and are also into the hobbie themselves I suggest going to all pets club. They have locations in southington Wallingford Branford and windham. They are amazing. When I go with a problem with my animals they know exactly what it needs. They are very willing to help and have a wide variety of animals to pick from. Their prices are also very fair and they offer a rewards card that offers a member price thats always less then regular price. I would go to them before going anywhere else.

Very disturbing experience buying pet mice from this location. The attendant assumed I was buying the mice as food for another pet. I told her Id prefer to pick them out myself, shed packaged up 2 random ones. Maybe they just view them as food and thats why they have them loaded 20 or 30 to a 10 gallon tank. She lifted up a plastic lid-like hut to reveal a pile of hiding mice. I chose two and she grabbed each one by the tail and tossed it in a little carrier box. I figured she must know what she was doing, but I later read you should NEVER pick up a mouse solely by the tail, it can really injure their spine. She then dropped the plastic hut back in the tank, squishing one of the mice. I showed her the mouse struggling to free itself under the edge of the hut and she told me it was fine. She did fix it though. I told her Id never had mice before, she didnt offer any advice or recommend any product. Clearly they dont even pretend to care about the mice. I feel crappy about giving them my business but theyre the only place in 20 miles that sells females (they are supposedly less stinky.) I wont go back.

my poor cat, hes about 4 yrs and no longer plays, has any interest or desires, just lays... I bring his food to him now and hes taken one or two niblets since Saturday afternoon, you see he received vaccinations from the clinic Sturday afternoon, today is Monday. I dont believe he should be this way. I believe some damage was done during the vaccination needles being inserted into his body. Im mortified and frightened for him that he will be disabled and in pain and scared that he doesnt know whats happening for his lifetime now. I am very angry this has happened and sad more care was not taken. It was like a mill, get them in and get them out, very wrong choice I made to bring him to Petco , just to save a few dollars.... Now for what! ! Im so sorry Boojie Bear, mommy loves you

Very unsatisfied with the grooming department in this petco. Brought my dog in for a nail trim. First thing first- could not locate my records- mind you Ive been to this facility before. Should have known that they just didnt want to help but but I continued. My dog was in for not more than five minutes when I was called to return and told that the nails "were too short to trim". My dog had talons. While I understand beagles can be loud, this is NOT a reason to neglect from trimming my dogs nails. While I wasnt charged, it wasnt about the cost it was about the service being performed. I will NEVER return to this facility for grooming. I took my dog elsewhere there after and go figure- he DID need a nail trim. Pathetic excuse for a groomer.

I would like to acknowledge the worker there named Gary, I went to petco today with a massive cold and Im also pregnant so I was anxious about buying a large scratching post for my cats because Id have to carry it around and to my car. Nope! I asked him if hed mind helping me getting a scratching post down, not only did he get it down and carry it to the front for me, and promptly cash me out, but he also offered to carry it to my car for me, without me having to ask once. It was outstanding customer service, and made my whole day faster and so much easier. Thank you, Gary!

Not like the pet stores from back in the day.. Fish seam to be the only pet the have for sale... When i was a kid lol their were all kinds of pets. We used ro go to the pet store to play with the dogs and kittens see the snakes and the other reptiles or the different birds, just for fun..
