I rarely shop at Fairway and will NEVER go back after my last experience. You need to watch out for their so called "fresh" food. A friend was shopping there so I had asked her to pick up 2 containers of fruit. My kids and I loves it so they were excited to have some. I did not tastes it first as how could a store have spoiled food on their shelves? The fruit made my two children so sick as it had spoiled! These were purchased on February 28th and the containers say "sell by March 28th"....how is that even possible? They would actually have these containers of fruit on their shelves for a month?? What was worse was that when I brought the containers back to the store they would only give me store credit as I did not have my friends card on me. I asked for my $20.00 back in cash and I was told "no" only store credit. How and why would I ever go back to their store after their food made my children so sick? In the end they would not even take the 2 packages of fruit back nor would they give me my money back. The customer service in this store is completely lacking. In addition not once did they ask me if my children were ok nor did they even apologize for selling spoiled fruit. BEWARE of this store and its inexcusably rude and unapologetic employees.

I have been to the store 3 times and would commend them for wide variety of products and how well they are arranged. Especially liked the section for Organic products. However, my shopping experience has not been that pleasant. It seems like every time a black man enters your store he is immediately labelled a criminal ( shop-lifter) and someone pushing a cart and pretending to be shopping is assigned to follow him. Last Saturday, I went with my daughter shopping (this was her fisrt time there) and as we were walking around , she happened to notice an aisle for British products and so she got excited because she is enamored with all things European. As we were walking along the aisle she noticed brands of chocolates that she was familiar with and as she was making a choice, I noticed one your employess surveying us and at that point I almost told that someone was watching us to see if we were shop-flifting but I decided against. Perhaps you should consider installing cameras if you do not want your racial profiling to be so obvious.

Great selection & price, bad customer service! I just wasted about .5 hr. in the Stamford fairway, trying to straighten out the price of the walnut, the sign on the stand said $8.99/lb, but the label on the packaged has 11.99, some at 12.99, I took the time to stop by the customer service, the young lady went to the manager, the mgr didnt do anything and asked the girl to go check with me, we did and confirmed the sign had $8.99, it also said "discount at register ", so she told me to try at the register, well it ringed up at $12.99, the cashier called the mgr, again he did nothing, I was so annoyed and just drop the item. This is a Friday after noon on Apr 14 2017, the store was not busy at all, obviously this bad customer experience is caused by poor mgmt and system, no wonder the company went bankrupt!

I would like to give ZERO star to its customer service. Customer service is slow, without energy and look lazy. Once a manger opened a check out line herself. I told her at very beginning that I wanted paper receipt. She said OK. But, at the end, she forgot. When I said to her that I wanted my receipt. At the time, she already past the point to print the receipt. She said that you will get an email receipt. I said to her that I told you at the beginning that I wanted a paper receipt. She did not apologized, but yelled at me that I was rude. I do not want to shop there even though I lived next to the store. Customer service in Stop&Shop and ShopRite are SUPER. I would rather drive and shop there. I felt at Fairway, I am paying for getting their attitude.

July 1 @ 9pm - Watched the deli manager (a stocky guy with lots of arm tattoos) open the curved glass partition of the prepared foods deli counter from the customer side, reach in with bare hands, grab chicken nuggets, and start eating. When he realized I had come up to the counter for service, he tried to hide the half eaten chicken nugget in his hand. Needless to say, this is VERY UNSANITARY and simply gross. If the manager is doing this, then is it wrong to assume more staff are doing this and other unsanitary things are going on? I spoke with Jennifer, the manager on duty today, to report what I saw. She said shed review the videotape and follow up accordingly. Its pretty likely I wont shop there again.

Fairway is a great market! We have some very good markets in Connecticut: Big Y, Whole Foods, Super Stop& Shop, Stew Leonards, and Shoprite, are all places at which I shop (I have put them in descending order of my personal preference), but Fairway is my top choice. It alone really feels like an old time European market made big. Its a hard quality to put into words, so all I can say is that they really get it right. Experience it for yourself to see why I (and many of my friends) will travel just to go to Fairway Market (I drive from Westport to Stamford - easily accessible from exit 7 off Route 95). If you want a great market experience, Fairway is the place to go.

Aside from their Unique/Vast selection, much of which you cant find at Whole Foods, its the Customer Care that keeps us there. 1) My husband was wheel chair bound for 3mo. & they immediately would drop what they were doing, each time, to help with the electronic chair 2) During my mothers beginning stages of Parkinsons, staff would offer & help shop with her, as her memory wasnt as sharp 3) I misplaced my purse/credit card a few times and EACH TIME they had recovered it for me. You cant get this type of caring, and friendly, staff anywhere else. We love it there.

Normally, Ill give this place 3-4 stars for cleanliness, better organization and cordial staff. However, more recently Ive been noticing greed and price discrepancies. My son favors stonyfield organic milk and the price on it has gone up from 4.79 --> 4.99 --> 5.29 in a matter of 3-4 weeks. Maybe its the manufacturer, dont really know. On a more positive note, their bakery is better compared to other places. Croissant used to be my sons favorite for a long long time and I like their organic bread and eggs.

I was in Fairway and whent to the liquor shop and it was obsured. I was buying a bottle and I gave the cashier a 100 dollar bill she had to stop everything and call a manager. That is when you know that the store is lacking. I dont think Fairway can compete with the other liquor stores around here. They selection they had was also very minimal, and the prices are higher then the ones at the other liquor stores. I can tell all of you that it was my first and last time going there.
